മർക്കൊസ് 1
The beginning of the good news about Jesus Christ.
It is said in the prophet Isaiah – “I am sending my messenger ahead of you; he will prepare your way.
3 ൩ കർത്താവിന്റെ വഴി ഒരുക്കുവിൻ, അവന്റെ പാത നിരപ്പാക്കുവിൻ എന്നു മരുഭൂമിയിൽ വിളിച്ചുപറയുന്നവന്റെ ശബ്ദം” എന്നിങ്ങനെ യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന്റെ പുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ
The voice of one crying aloud in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the road for the Lord, make a straight path for him.’”
4 ൪ യോഹന്നാൻ വന്നു മരുഭൂമിയിൽ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചും പാപമോചനത്തിനായുള്ള മാനസാന്തരസ്നാനം പ്രസംഗിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
John the Baptizer appeared in the wilderness, proclaiming a baptism on repentance, for the forgiveness of sins.
5 ൫ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ യെഹൂദ്യദേശം ഒക്കെയും യെരൂശലേമ്യർ എല്ലാവരും വന്നു തങ്ങളുടെ പാപങ്ങളെ ഏറ്റുപറഞ്ഞ് യോർദ്ദാൻ നദിയിൽ അവനാൽ സ്നാനം ഏറ്റു.
The whole of Judea, as well as all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, went out to him; and they were baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins.
6 ൬ യോഹന്നാനോ ഒട്ടകരോമംകൊണ്ടുള്ള ഉടുപ്പും അരയിൽ തോൽ വാറും ധരിച്ചും വെട്ടുക്കിളിയും കാട്ടുതേനും ഭക്ഷിച്ചും പോന്നു.
John wore clothes made of camels’ hair, with a leather strap round his waist, and lived on locusts and wild honey;
7 ൭ “എന്നിലും ബലമേറിയവൻ എന്റെ പിന്നാലെ വരുന്നു; അവന്റെ ചെരിപ്പിന്റെ വാറ് കുനിഞ്ഞഴിക്കുവാൻ ഞാൻ യോഗ്യനല്ല.
and he proclaimed – ‘After me is coming someone more powerful than I am, and I am not fit even to stoop down and unfasten his sandals.
8 ൮ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ വെള്ളത്തിൽ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; അവനോ നിങ്ങളെ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിൽ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കും” എന്നു അവൻ പ്രസംഗിച്ചു.
I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.’
Now about that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
Just as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens split open and the Spirit coming down to him like a dove,
11 ൧൧ നീ എന്റെ പ്രിയപുത്രൻ; നിന്നിൽ ഞാൻ പ്രസാദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽനിന്നു ഒരു ശബ്ദവും ഉണ്ടായി.
and from the heavens came a voice – ‘You are my dearly loved son; you bring me great joy.’
Immediately afterwards the Spirit drove Jesus out into the wilderness;
13 ൧൩ അവിടെ അവൻ സാത്താനാൽ പരീക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടു, നാല്പതു ദിവസം മരുഭൂമിയിൽ കാട്ടുമൃഗങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ആയിരുന്നു; ദൂതന്മാർ അവനെ ശുശ്രൂഷിച്ചു പോന്നു.
and he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan, and among the wild beasts, while the angels helped him.
After John had been arrested, Jesus went to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God –
15 ൧൫ “കാലം തികഞ്ഞു, ദൈവരാജ്യം സമീപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; മാനസാന്തരപ്പെട്ട് സുവിശേഷത്തിൽ വിശ്വസിപ്പിൻ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
‘The time has come, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe the good news.’
16 ൧൬ അവൻ ഗലീലക്കടല്പുറത്ത് നടക്കുമ്പോൾ ശിമോനും അവന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അന്ത്രെയാസും കടലിൽ വല വീശുന്നത് കണ്ട്; അവർ മീൻ പിടിക്കുന്നവർ ആയിരുന്നു.
As Jesus was going along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net in the sea, for they were fishermen.
‘Come and follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will teach you to fish for people.’
They left their nets at once, and followed him.
19 ൧൯ യേശു അവിടെനിന്നു അല്പം മുന്നോട്ടു ചെന്നപ്പോൾ സെബെദിയുടെ മകനായ യാക്കോബും അവന്റെ സഹോദരനായ യോഹന്നാനും പടകിൽ ഇരുന്നു വല നന്നാക്കുന്നത് കണ്ട്.
Going on a little further, he saw James, Zebedee’s son, and his brother John, who were in their boat mending the nets.
20 ൨൦ അവൻ ഉടനെ അവരെയും വിളിച്ചു; അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ അപ്പനായ സെബെദിയെ കൂലിക്കാരോടുകൂടെ പടകിൽ വിട്ടു അവനെ അനുഗമിച്ചു.
Jesus called them at once, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the crew, and went after him.
They walked to Capernaum. On the next Sabbath Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach.
22 ൨൨ അവന്റെ ഉപദേശത്തിങ്കൽ അവർ വിസ്മയിച്ചു; അവൻ ശാസ്ത്രിമാരെപ്പോലെയല്ല, അധികാരമുള്ളവനായിട്ടത്രേ അവരെ ഉപദേശിച്ചത്.
The people were amazed at his teaching, for he taught them like one who had authority, and not like the teachers of the Law.
Now there was in their synagogue at the time a man under the power of a foul spirit, who called out,
24 ൨൪ “നസറായനായ യേശുവേ, ഞങ്ങൾക്കും നിനക്കും തമ്മിൽ എന്ത്? ഞങ്ങളെ നശിപ്പിപ്പാൻ വന്നുവോ? നീ ആർ എന്നു ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധൻ തന്നേ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
‘What do you want with us, Jesus the Nazarene? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are – the Holy One of God!’
But Jesus rebuked the spirit, ‘Be silent! Come out from him.’
The foul spirit threw the man into a fit, and with a loud cry came out from him.
27 ൨൭ എല്ലാവരും ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ട്: “ഇതെന്ത്? അധികാരത്തോടെയുള്ള ഒരു പുതിയ ഉപദേശം! അവൻ അശുദ്ധാത്മാക്കളോടുപോലും കല്പിക്കുന്നു; അവ അവനെ അനുസരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു തമ്മിൽ വാദിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
They were all so amazed that they kept asking each other, ‘What is this? What is this, a new kind of teaching? He gives his commands with authority even to the foul spirits, and they obey him!’
His fame spread at once in all directions, through the whole region of Galilee.
29 ൨൯ അവർ പള്ളിയിൽ നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിയ ഉടനെ യാക്കോബും യോഹന്നാനുമായി ശിമോന്റെയും അന്ത്രെയാസിന്റെയും വീട്ടിൽ വന്നു.
As soon as they had left the synagogue, they went to the house of Simon and Andrew, along with James and John.
Now Simon’s mother-in-law was lying ill with a fever, and they at once told Jesus about her.
31 ൩൧ അവൻ അടുത്തുചെന്ന് അവളെ കൈക്കു പിടിച്ച് എഴുന്നേല്പിച്ചു; പനി അവളെ വിട്ടുമാറി, അവൾ അവരെ ശുശ്രൂഷിച്ചു.
Jesus went up to her and, grasping her hand, raised her up; the fever left her, and she began to take care of them.
32 ൩൨ വൈകുന്നേരം സൂര്യൻ അസ്തമിച്ചശേഷം അവർ സകലവിധ ദീനക്കാരെയും ഭൂതഗ്രസ്തരെയും അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
In the evening, after sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who were ill or possessed by demons;
and the whole city was gathered round the door.
34 ൩൪ നാനാവ്യാധികളാൽ വലഞ്ഞിരുന്ന അനേകരെ അവൻ സൌഖ്യമാക്കി, അനേകം ഭൂതങ്ങളെയും പുറത്താക്കി; ഭൂതങ്ങൾ അവനെ അറിയുകകൊണ്ട് അവയെ സംസാരിപ്പാൻ അവൻ സമ്മതിച്ചില്ല.
Jesus cured many who were ill with various diseases, and drove out many demons, and would not permit them to speak, because they knew him to be the Christ.
35 ൩൫ അവൻ അതികാലത്ത്, ഇരുട്ടുള്ളപ്പോൾതന്നെ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് പുറപ്പെട്ടു ഒരു നിർജ്ജനസ്ഥലത്ത് ചെന്ന് പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചു.
In the morning, long before daylight, Jesus got up and went out to a lonely spot, where he began to pray.
But Simon and his companions went out searching for him;
and, when they found him, they exclaimed, ‘Everyone is looking for you!’
38 ൩൮ അവൻ അവരോട്: “ഞാൻ ചുറ്റുമുള്ള ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിലും പ്രസംഗിക്കേണ്ടതിന് നാം അവിടേക്ക് പോക; ഇതിനായിട്ടല്ലോ ഞാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു വന്നിരിക്കുന്നത്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
But Jesus said to them, ‘Let us go somewhere else, into the country towns nearby so that I can make my proclamation in them also; for that was why I came.’
39 ൩൯ അങ്ങനെ അവൻ ഗലീലയിൽ ഒക്കെയും അവരുടെ പള്ളികളിൽ ചെന്ന് പ്രസംഗിക്കുകയും ഭൂതങ്ങളെ പുറത്താക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
And he went about making his proclamation in their synagogues all through Galilee, and driving out the demons.
40 ൪൦ ഒരു കുഷ്ഠരോഗി അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു മുട്ടുകുത്തി: “നിനക്ക് മനസ്സുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ എന്നെ ശുദ്ധമാക്കുവാൻ കഴിയും” എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
One day a leper came to Jesus and, falling on his knees, begged him for help. ‘If only you are willing,’ he said, ‘you are able to make me clean.’
Moved with compassion, Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying as he did so, ‘I am willing; become clean.’
Instantly the leprosy left the man, and he became clean;
and then Jesus, after sternly warning him, immediately sent him away,
44 ൪൪ “നോക്കൂ, ആരോടും ഒന്നും പറയരുത്; എന്നാൽ ചെന്ന് പുരോഹിതന് നിന്നെത്തന്നെ കാണിച്ചു, നിന്റെ ശുദ്ധീകരണത്തിന് വേണ്ടി മോശെ കല്പിച്ചത് അവർക്ക് സാക്ഷ്യത്തിനായി അർപ്പിക്ക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ വിട്ടയച്ചു.
and said to him, ‘Be careful not to say anything to anyone; but go and show yourself to the priest, and make the offerings for your cleansing directed by Moses, as evidence of your cure.’
45 ൪൫ അവനോ പുറപ്പെട്ടു ഈ കാര്യം അനേകരോട് ഘോഷിക്കുവാനും വളരെ പ്രചരിപ്പിക്കുവാനും തുടങ്ങി; തന്മൂലം യേശുവിനു പരസ്യമായി പട്ടണത്തിൽ കടക്കുവാൻ കഴിയായ്കകൊണ്ട് അവൻ പുറത്തു നിർജ്ജനസ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ പാർത്തു; എല്ലായിടത്തുനിന്നും ആളുകൾ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നുകൂടി.
The man, however, went away, and began to speak about it publicly, and to spread the story so widely, that Jesus could no longer go openly into a town, but stayed outside in lonely places; and people came to him from every direction.
