< Daniela 2 >

1 Ary tamin’ ny taona faharoa nanjakan’ i Nebokadnezara dia nanonofy Nebokadnezara, ka nitebiteby ny fanahiny, ary tsy nahita torimaso izy.
In the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, he had dreams. His mind was troubled, and he could not sleep.
2 Dia nasain’ ny mpanjaka nantsoina ny ombiasy sy ny mpisikidy sy ny mpanana ody ary ny Kaldeana hilaza amin’ ny mpanjaka ny nofiny. Dia tonga ireny ka nitsangana teo anatrehan’ ny mpanjaka.
Then the king summoned the magicians and those who claimed to speak with the dead. He also called the sorcerers and wise men. He wanted them to tell him about his dreams. So they came in and stood before the king.
3 Ary hoy ny mpanjaka taminy: Nanonofy aho, ka mitebiteby ta-hahalala ny nofy ny fanahiko.
The king said to them, “I have had a dream, and my mind is anxious to know what the dream means.”
4 Dia niteny tamin’ ny mpanjaka amin’ ny teny Aramiana ireny Kaldeana ireny ka nanao hoe: Ry mpanjaka ô, ho velona mandrakizay anie ianao, ambarao aminay mpanomponao ny nofy, dia holazainay ny heviny.
Then the wise men spoke to the king in Aramaic, “King, live forever! Tell the dream to us, your servants, and we will reveal the meaning.”
5 Dia namaly ny mpanjaka ka nanao tamin’ ireny Kaldeana ireny hoe: Efa niloa-bava aho; raha tsy hampahafantarinareo ahy ny nofy sy ny heviny, dia hotetitetehina ianareo, ary ny tranonareo hatao trano fivoahana.
The king replied to the wise men, “This matter has been settled. If you do not reveal the dream to me and interpret it, your bodies will be torn apart and your houses made into rubbish heaps.
6 Fa raha milaza ny nofy sy ny heviny kosa ianareo, dia hahazo fanomezana sy valim-pitia ary voninahitra be; koa ambarao ahy ny nofy mbamin’ ny heviny.
But if you will tell me the dream and its meaning, you will receive gifts from me, a reward, and great honor. So tell to me the dream and its meaning.”
7 Dia namaly indray ireo ka nanao hoe: Aoka ny mpanjaka hilaza ny nofy aminay mpanompony, dia hambaranay ny heviny.
They replied again and said, “Let the king tell us, his servants, the dream and we will tell you its meaning.”
8 Fa ny mpanjaka namaly ka nanao hoe: Fantatro marimarina fa mandany andro foana ianareo, satria hitanareo fa efa niloa-bava aho.
The king answered, “I know for certain that you want more time because you see how firm my decision is about this.
9 Fa raha tsy hampahafantarinareo ahy ny nofy, dia lalàna iray monja no hitondrana anareo; fa ianareo miray tetika hilaza teny lainga sy arirarira foana eto anatrehako mandra-pahatongan’ izay andro mahamety; koa ambarao ahy ny nofy, dia ho fantatro fa mahalaza ny heviny amiko koa ianareo.
But if you do not tell me the dream, there is only one sentence for you. You have decided to prepare false and deceptive words that you agreed together to say to me until I change my mind. So then, tell me the dream, and then I will know you can interpret it for me.”
10 Ny Kaldeana namaly teo anatrehan’ ny mpanjaka hoe: Tsy misy olona etỳ ambonin’ ny tany mahay milaza izany nofin’ ny mpanjaka izany; fa tsy mbola nisy mpanjaka, na dia izay lehibe sy mahery aza, nila zavatra toy izany tamin’ ny ombiasy sy ny mpisikidy ary ny Kaldeana.
The wise men replied to the king, “There is not a man on earth able to meet the king's demand. There is no great and powerful king who has demanded such a thing from any magician, or from anyone who claims to speak with the dead, or from a wise man.
11 Ary sarotra ny zavatra anontanian’ ny mpanjaka, ka tsy misy mahay milaza izany eo anatrehan’ ny mpanjaka afa-tsy ireo andriamanitra, izay tsy manam-ponenana amin’ ny nofo.
What the king demands is difficult, and there is no one who can tell it to the king except the gods, and they do not live among humans.”
12 Dia vinitra sady tezitra indrindra ny mpanjaka noho izany, ka nasainy naringana ny olon-kendrin’ i Babylona rehetra.
This made the king angry and very furious, and he gave an order to destroy all those in Babylon who were known for their wisdom.
13 Ary navoaka ny didy nampamono ny olon-kendry; ary Daniela sy ny namany koa mba notadiaviny hovonoina.
So the decree went out that all those who were known for their wisdom were to be put to death. Because of this decree, they searched for Daniel and his friends so they could be put to death.
14 Dia novalian’ i Daniela tamin’ ny fanahy sy ny fahendrena Arioka lehiben’ ny mpiambina ny mpanjaka, izay nivoaka hamono ny olon-kendrin’ i Babylona;
Then Daniel replied with prudence and discretion to Arioch the commander of the king's bodyguard, who had come to kill all those in Babylon who were known for their wisdom.
15 eny, namaly izy ka nanao tamin’ i Arioka, lehibe voatendrin’ ny mpanjaka, hoe: Nahoana no dia mafy toy izany ny teny avy amin’ ny mpanjaka? Dia nambaran’ i Arioka tamin’ i Daniela ilay teny.
Daniel asked the king's commander, “Why is the king's decree so urgent?” So Arioch told Daniel what had happened.
16 Dia niditra Daniela ka nangataka tamin’ ny mpanjaka hanome andro azy, dia holazainy amin’ ny mpanjaka ny hevitry ny nofy.
Then Daniel went in and requested an appointment with the king so that he could present the interpretation to the king.
17 Ary Daniela nody tany an-tranony ka nanambara ilay teny tamin’ i Hanania sy Misaela ary Azaria namany,
Then Daniel went to his house and explained to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, what had happened.
18 mba hangatahan’ ireo famindram-po amin’ Andriamanitry ny lanitra ny amin’ izany zava-miafina izany, mba tsy haringana Daniela sy ny namany mbamin’ ny olon-kendrin’ i Babylona rehetra.
He urged them to seek mercy from the God of heaven concerning this mystery so that he and they might not be killed with the rest of the men of Babylon who were known for their wisdom.
19 Dia naseho an’ i Daniela tamin’ ny fahitana amin’ ny alina izany zava-miafina izany, ka dia nisaotra an’ Andriamanitry ny lanitra Daniela.
That night the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven
20 Eny, niteny izy ka nanao hoe: Isaorana anie ny anaran’ Andriamanitra mandrakizay mandrakizay, fa Azy ny fahendrena sy ny hery.
and said, “Praise the name of God forever and ever; for wisdom and power belong to him.
21 Ary Izy no mandahatra ny andro sy ny fotoana; Izy no manaisotra mpanjaka sy manangana mpanjaka; Izy no manome fahendrena ho an’ ny hendry sy fahalalana ho an’ izay mazava saina.
He changes the times and seasons; he removes kings and places kings on their thrones. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.
22 Izy no mampiseho ny zavatra lalina sy miafina; Izy no mahalala izay ao amin’ ny maizina, ary ny mazava mitoetra ao aminy.
He reveals the deep and hidden things because he knows what is in the darkness, and the light lives with him.
23 Hianao, ry Andriamanitry ny razako ô, no deraiko sy isaorako, satria nomenao fahendrena sy hery aho, ary ankehitriny efa nampahafantarinao ahy izay nangatahinay taminao; fa nampahafantarinao anay ilay nofin’ i ny mpanjaka.
God of my ancestors, I thank you and praise you for the wisdom and power you gave to me. Now you have made known to me what we asked of you, you have made known to us the matter that concerns the king.”
24 Ary noho izany Daniela dia niditra nankao amin’ i Arioka, izay notendren’ ny mpanjaka handringana ny olon-kendrin’ i Babylona, eny, nandeha izy ka nanao taminy hoe: Aza mandringana ny olon-kendrin’ i Babylona; fa ento ho eo anatrehan’ ny mpanjaka aho, dia hambarako aminy ny hevitry ny nofiny.
Then Daniel went in to see Arioch (the one the king appointed to kill everyone who was wise in Babylon). He went and said to him, “Do not kill the wise men in Babylon. Take me to the king and I will show the king the interpretation of his dream.”
25 Dia nentin’ i Arioka faingana ho eo anatrehan’ ny mpanjaka Daniela, ka hoy izy taminy: Nahita lehilahy isan’ ny babo avy any Joda aho, izay hilaza amin’ ny mpanjaka ny hevitry ny nofy.
Then Arioch quickly brought in Daniel before the king and said, “I have found among the exiles of Judah a man who will reveal the meaning of the king's dream.”
26 Ny mpanjaka namaly ka nilaza tamin’ i Daniela, izay atao hoe koa Beltesazara, hoe: Moa mahay manambara amiko ny nofy izay hitako mbamin’ ny heviny va ianao?
The king said to Daniel (who was called Belteshazzar), “Are you able to tell me the dream that I saw and its meaning?”
27 Dia namaly teo anatrehan’ ny mpanjaka Daniela nanao hoe: Ilay zava-miafina nanontanian’ ny mpanjaka dia tsy hain’ ny olon-kendry, na ny mpisikidy, na ny ombiasy, na ny mpanandro, nolazaina tamin’ ny mpanjaka;
Daniel answered the king and said, “The mystery that the king has asked about cannot be revealed by those who have wisdom, nor by those who claim to speak with the dead, nor by magicians, and not by astrologers.
28 kanefa misy Andriamanitra any an-danitra, Izay mampiseho zava-miafina ka mampahafantatra an’ i Nebokadnezara mpanjaka izay ho tonga any am-parany. Ny nofinao sy ny fahitan’ ny lohanao teo amin’ ny farafaranao dia izao:
Nevertheless, there is a God who lives in the heavens, who reveals mysteries, and he has made known to you, King Nebuchadnezzar, what will happen in the days to come. These were your dream and the visions of your mind as you lay on your bed.
29 Ny aminao, ry mpanjaka ô, raha nandry ianao, dia tonga ny eritreritrao ny amin’ izay ho avy rahatrizay; ary Izay mampiseho zava-miafina dia mampahafantatra anao izay ho avy.
As for you, king, your thoughts on your bed were about things to come, and the one who reveals mysteries has made known to you what is about to happen.
30 Ary izaho aza, dia tsy noho ny fahendrena ananako mihoatra noho ny olombelona rehetra tsy akory no nampisehoana tamiko ny zava-miafina, fa ny mba hampahafantarana ny mpanjaka ilay hevitra, ka hahafantaranao ny eritreritry ny fonao.
As for me, this mystery was not revealed to me because of any wisdom that I have more than any other living person. This mystery was revealed to me so that you, king, may understand the meaning, and so that you may know the thoughts deep within you.
31 Hianao, ry mpanjaka ô, nahita fa, indro, nisy sariolona lehibe anankiray. Izany sary izany dia lehibe sady namirapiratra tsara, nijoro teo anatrehanao izy, ary ny tarehiny dia nahatahotra.
King, you looked up and you saw a large statue. This statue, which was very powerful and bright, stood before you. Its brightness was terrifying.
32 Ny lohan’ izany sary izany dia volamena tsara, ny tratrany sy ny sandriny dia volafotsy, ny kibony sy ny feny dia varahina,
The head of the statue was made of fine gold. Its breast and arms were of silver. Its middle and its thighs were made of bronze,
33 ny ranjony dia vy, ary ny tongony dia vy sy tanimanga.
and its legs were made of iron. Its feet were made partly of iron and partly of clay.
34 Nijery ianao ambara-pahanisy vato voaendaka, nefa tsy nendahan-tanana, ary namely ilay sary teo amin’ ny tongony vy sy tanimanga iny ka nahatorotoro azy.
You looked up, and a stone was cut out, although not by human hands, and it struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay, and it shattered them.
35 Dia niara-torotoro ny vy sy ny tanimanga sy ny varahina sy ny volafotsy ary ny volamena ka tonga toy ny akofa eo am-pamoloana fahavaratra; ary nopaohin’ ny rivotra izy, ka tsy nisy hitoerany, ary ilay vato namely ny sary dia tonga tendrombohitra lehibe nahafeno ny tany rehetra.
Then the iron, clay, bronze, silver, and gold at the same time were broken into pieces and became like the chaff of the threshing floors in the summer. The wind carried them away and there was no trace of them left. But the stone that struck the statue became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.
36 Izany no nofy, ary holazainay eto anatrehan’ ny mpanjaka koa ny heviny.
This was your dream. Now we will tell the king the meaning.
37 Hianao, ry mpanjaka ô, izay mpanjakan’ ny mpanjaka sady nomen’ Andriamanitry ny lanitra fanjakana sy hery sy fahaleovana ary voninahitra,
You, king, are king of the kings to whom the God of heaven has given the kingdom, the power, the strength, and the honor.
38 ka ny zanak’ olombelona sy ny bibi-dia ary ny voro-manidina, na aiza na aiza itoerany, dia nomeny ho eo an-tananao, ary nataony ho mpanjakan’ izy rehetra ianao, dia ianao izany loha volamena izany.
He has given into your hand the place where the human beings live. He has given over the animals of the fields and the birds of the heavens into your hand, and he has made you rule over them all. You are the statue's head of gold.
39 Ary manarakaraka anao dia hisy fanjakana hafa hitsangana ambany noho ny anao, ary hisy fanjakana fahatelo koa izay varahina sady hanam-pahefana amin’ ny tany rehetra.
After you, another kingdom will arise that is inferior to you, and yet a third kingdom of bronze will rule over all the earth.
40 Ary ny fanjakana fahefatra dia ho mafy toy ny vy; fa toy ny vy manorotoro sy mahamongomongo ny zavatra rehetra, ary toy ny famakivakin’ ny vy ireo rehetra ireo, dia toy izany no amakivakiany sy anorotoroany azy.
There will be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron, because iron breaks other things into pieces and shatters everything. It will shatter all these things and crush them.
41 Ary satria hitanao ny tongotra sy ny rantsan-tongotra, fa ny tapany tanimangan’ ny mpanefy tanimanga, ary ny tapany vy dia ho fanjakana mizarazara izy; nefa hisy herim-by ao aminy, satria nahita vy miharo tanimanga mbola fotaka ianao.
Just as you saw, the feet and toes were partly made of baked clay and partly made of iron, so it will be a divided kingdom; some of the strength of iron will be in it, just as you saw iron mixed with the soft clay.
42 Ary toy ny rantsan-tongotra, ny tapany vy, ny tapany tanimanga, dia ho toy izany ny fanjakana, ny tapany ho mafy, ary ny tapany ho malemy.
As the toes of the feet were partly made of iron and partly made of clay, so the kingdom will be partly strong and partly brittle.
43 Ary toy ny nahitanao ny vy miharo tanimanga mbola fotaka, dia ho toy izany no hiharoany amin’ ny taranak’ olombelona; nefa tsy hitambatra izy, dia toy ny tsi-fetezan’ ny vy miharo amin’ ny tanimanga.
As you saw the iron mixed with soft clay, so the people will be a mixture; they will not stay together, just as iron does not mix with clay.
44 Ary amin’ ny andron’ ireo mpanjaka ireo Andriamanitry ny lanitra dia hanorina fanjakana izay tsy ho rava mandrakizay; ary izany fanjakana izany tsy havela ho an’ olon-kafa, fa ireo fanjakana rehetra ireo dia hotorotoroiny sy holevoniny, fa izy kosa hitoetra mandrakizay.
In the days of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be conquered by another people. It will break the other kingdoms into pieces and put an end to all of them, and it will remain forever.
45 Fa toy ilay nahitanao ny vato nendahana tamin’ ny tendrombohitra, nefa tsy nendahan-tanana, sy ny nanorotoroany ny vy sy ny varahina sy ny tanimanga sy ny volafotsy ary ny volamena, dia ampahafantarin’ Andriamanitra lehibe ny mpanjaka ny amin’ ny zavatra ho avy rahatrizay: marina ny nofy, ary tsy maintsy ho tò ny heviny.
Just as you saw, a stone was cut out of the mountain, but not by human hands. It broke the iron, bronze, clay, silver, and gold into pieces. The great God has made known to you, king, what will happen after this. The dream is true and this interpretation is reliable.”
46 Dia niankohoka Nebokadnezara mpanjaka ka nivavaka tamin’ i Daniela ary nampanatitra fanatitra sy hanitra ankasitrahana ho azy.
King Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face before Daniel and honored him; he commanded that an offering be made and that incense be offered up to him.
47 Ny mpanjaka namaly an’ i Daniela ka nanao hoe: Marina tokoa fa Andriamanitrareo dia Andriamanitry ny andriamanitra sy Tompon’ ny mpanjaka ary Mampiseho zava-miafina, ka dia nahay nampiseho izany zava-miafina izany ianao.
The king said to Daniel, “Truly your God is the God of gods, the Lord of kings, and the one who reveals mysteries, for you have been able to reveal this mystery.”
48 Ary tamin’ izany ny mpanjaka dia nanandratra an’ i Daniela ho lehibe, ka nanome azy zavatra maro sady lehibe ary nanendry azy ho mpanapaka any Babylona sy ny fehiny rehetra, sy ho lehiben’ ny mpanapaka ny olon-kendrin’ i Babylona rehetra.
Then the king made Daniel highly honored and gave him many wonderful gifts. He made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon. Daniel became chief governor over the wisest men of Babylon.
49 Ary Daniela nangataka tamin’ ny mpanjaka, ary izy nanendry an’ i Sadraka sy Mesaka ary Abednego ho tonian’ ny raharahan’ i Babylona sy ny fehiny; ary Daniela dia teo am-bavahadin’ ny mpanjaka.
Daniel made a request of the king, and the king appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to be administrators over the province of Babylon. But Daniel remained at the king's court.
