ಜ್ಞಾನೋಕ್ತಿಗಳು 22

1 ೧ ಬಹುಧನಕ್ಕಿಂತಲೂ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಹೆಸರು ಉತ್ತಮ, ಬೆಳ್ಳಿ, ಬಂಗಾರಕ್ಕಿಂತಲೂ ಸತ್ಕೀರ್ತಿಯು ಅಮೂಲ್ಯ.

A [good] name [is] rather to be chosen than great riches, [and] loving favour rather than silver and gold.

2 ೨ ಬಡವರು ಮತ್ತು ಸಿರಿವಂತರು ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಎದುರುಬದುರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಯೆಹೋವನೇ ಅವರನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿದನು.

The rich and poor meet together: the LORD [is] the maker of them all.

3 ೩ ಜಾಣನು ಕೇಡನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಅಡಗಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು, ಬುದ್ಧಿಹೀನನು ಮುಂದೆ ಹೋಗಿ ನಷ್ಟಪಡುವನು.

A prudent [man] foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.

4 ೪ ಧನ, ಮಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಜೀವಗಳು ದೀನಭಾವಕ್ಕೂ, ಯೆಹೋವನ ಭಯಕ್ಕೂ ಫಲ.

By humility [and] the fear of the LORD [are] riches, and honour, and life.

5 ೫ ವಕ್ರಬುದ್ಧಿಯುಳ್ಳವನ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಳ್ಳುಗಳೂ, ಉರುಲುಗಳೂ ತುಂಬಿವೆ, ತನ್ನನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವವನು ಅವುಗಳಿಗೆ ದೂರವಾಗಿರುವನು.

Thorns [and] snares [are] in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.

6 ೬ ನಡೆಯಬೇಕಾದ ಮಾರ್ಗಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕಂತೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಶಿಕ್ಷಿಸು, ಮುಪ್ಪಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಓರೆಯಾಗರು.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

7 ೭ ಬಲ್ಲಿದನು ಬಡವನಿಗೆ ಒಡೆಯ, ಸಾಲಗಾರನು ಸಾಲಕೊಟ್ಟವನಿಗೆ ಸೇವಕ.

The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower [is] servant to the lender.

8 ೮ ಕೆಟ್ಟತನವನ್ನು ಬಿತ್ತುವವನು ಕೇಡನ್ನೇ ಕೊಯ್ಯುವನು, ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯಿಂದ ಹಿಡಿದ ದಂಡವು ಅವನ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಬಿದ್ದುಹೋಗುವುದು.

He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.

9 ೯ ದಯಾದೃಷ್ಟಿಯವನು ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದವನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುವನು, ತನ್ನ ಆಹಾರವನ್ನು ಬಡವರಿಗೆ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾನಲ್ಲವೆ.

He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.

10 ೧೦ ಧರ್ಮನಿಂದಕನನ್ನು ಓಡಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟರೆ ಜಗಳವು ತೊಲಗುವುದು, ಹೌದು, ವ್ಯಾಜ್ಯವು ತೀರಿ ಅವಮಾನವು ಇಲ್ಲವಾಗುವುದು.

Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.

11 ೧೧ ಹೃದಯಶುದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನು ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸುವ ಮತ್ತು ಸವಿಮಾತನಾಡುವ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ರಾಜನ ಸ್ನೇಹವು ದೊರೆಯುವುದು.

He that loveth pureness of heart, [for] the grace of his lips the king [shall be] his friend.

12 ೧೨ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಕಣ್ಣು ತಿಳಿವಳಿಕೆಗೆ ಕಾವಲು, ಆತನು ವಂಚಕನ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೆಡವಿಬಿಡುವನು.

The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor.

13 ೧೩ “ಹೊರಗೆ ಸಿಂಹವಿದೆ, ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಬೀದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಂದ್ದಿತು” ಎಂಬುದು ಸೋಮಾರಿಯ ನೆವ.

The slothful [man] saith, [There is] a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.

14 ೧೪ ಜಾರಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ಬಾಯಿ ಆಳವಾದ ಹಳ್ಳ, ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ ಸಿಟ್ಟನ್ನೆಬ್ಬಿಸಿದವನು ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಬೀಳುವನು.

The mouth of strange women [is] a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein.

15 ೧೫ ಮೂರ್ಖತನವು ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಸಹಜ, ಆದರೆ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕನ ಬೆತ್ತವು ಅದನ್ನು ತೊಲಗಿಸುವುದು.

Foolishness [is] bound in the heart of a child; [but] the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

16 ೧೬ ಸ್ವಂತ ಲಾಭಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಬಡವರನ್ನು ಹಿಂಸಿಸುವವನಿಗೂ, ಸಿರಿವಂತರಿಗೆ ಲಂಚಕೊಡುವವನಿಗೂ ಕೊರತೆಯೇ ಗತಿ.

He that oppresseth the poor to increase his [riches, and] he that giveth to the rich, [shall] surely [come] to want.

17 ೧೭ ಕಿವಿಗೊಟ್ಟು ಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳು, ನನ್ನ ಜ್ಞಾನಬೋಧೆಗೆ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಕೊಡು.

Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge.

18 ೧೮ ನೀನು ಆ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಅಂತರಂಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಪಾಡುತ್ತಾ, ತುಟಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿದ್ಧಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರೆ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ರಮ್ಯ.

For [it is] a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips.

19 ೧೯ ನೀನು ಯೆಹೋವನಲ್ಲಿ ಭರವಸವಿಡಬೇಕೆಂದು, ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಈ ದಿನ ನಿನಗೇ ತಿಳಿಯಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ.

That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.

20 ೨೦ ಸತ್ಯವಚನಗಳು ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಯಥಾರ್ಥವೆಂದು ನೀನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡು, ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದವರಿಗೆ ಸತ್ಯವಚನಗಳನ್ನೇ ಅರಿಕೆ ಮಾಡುವಂತೆ,

Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge,

21 ೨೧ ಸತ್ಯ, ತಿಳಿವಳಿಕೆಯ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಮೊದಲೇ ನಿನಗಾಗಿ ಬರೆದಿರುವೆನಲ್ಲಾ.

That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?

22 ೨೨ ಬಡವರಿಗೆ ದಿಕ್ಕಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದು ಅವರನ್ನು ಸೂರೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಡ, ನ್ಯಾಯಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ದರಿದ್ರರನ್ನು ತುಳಿಯಬೇಡ.

Rob not the poor, because he [is] poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:

23 ೨೩ ಯೆಹೋವನೇ ಅವರ ವ್ಯಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಿ, ಹಾಳುಮಾಡಿದವರ ಜೀವವನ್ನು ಹಾಳುಮಾಡುವನು.

For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.

24 ೨೪ ಕೋಪಿಷ್ಠನ ಸಂಗಡ ಸ್ನೇಹ ಬೆಳಸಬೇಡ, ಸಿಟ್ಟುಗಾರನ ಸಹವಾಸ ಮಾಡಬೇಡ.

Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:

25 ೨೫ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಅವನ ದುರ್ನಡತೆಯನ್ನು ಅನುಸರಿಸಿ, ನಿನ್ನ ಆತ್ಮವನ್ನು ಉರುಲಿಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಿ ನೋಡಿಕೋ.

Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.

26 ೨೬ ಮಾತುಕೊಟ್ಟು ಸಾಲಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊಣೆಯಾಗುವವರಲ್ಲಿ, ನೀನೂ ಒಬ್ಬನಾಗಬೇಡ,

Be not thou [one] of them that strike hands, [or] of them that are sureties for debts.

27 ೨೭ ಆ ಸಾಲವನ್ನು ತೀರಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನಿನ್ನಿಂದಾಗದಿರಲು, ಸಾಲಕೊಟ್ಟವನು ನಿನ್ನ ಕೆಳಗಿನ ಹಾಸಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಕಿತ್ತುಹಾಕುವುದು ಬೇಕೇ?

If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?

28 ೨೮ ನಿನ್ನ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರು ಹಾಕಿದ ಪೂರ್ವಕಾಲದ ಮೇರೆಯನ್ನು ದಾಟಬೇಡ.

Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.

29 ೨೯ ತನ್ನ ಕೆಲಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಚಾತುರ್ಯವುಳ್ಳವನನ್ನು ನೋಡು, ಇಂಥವನು ರಾಜನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಲ್ಲುವನೇ ಹೊರತು, ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಜನರ ಮುಂದೆ ಅಲ್ಲ.

Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean [men].
