ಜ್ಞಾನೋಕ್ತಿಗಳು 19

1 ೧ ಕಪಟವಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುವ ಮೂಢನಿಗಿಂತಲೂ, ನಿರ್ದೋಷಿಯಾಗಿ ನಡೆಯುವ ದರಿದ್ರನೇ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ.

Better [is] the poor that walketh in his integrity, than [he that is] perverse in his lips, and is a fool.

2 ೨ ತಿಳಿವಳಿಕೆಯಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಕೋರುವುದು ಯುಕ್ತವಲ್ಲ, ದುಡುಕುವ ಕಾಲು ದಾರಿತಪ್ಪುವುದು.

Also, [that] the soul [be] without knowledge, [it is] not good; and he that hasteth with [his] feet sinneth.

3 ೩ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಮೂರ್ಖತನದಿಂದ ತನ್ನ ಗತಿಯನ್ನು ಕೆಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು, ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕುದಿಯುವನು.

The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.

4 ೪ ಭಾಗ್ಯವಂತನಿಗೆ ಬಹು ಮಂದಿ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರು, ಬಡವನಿಗೆ ಇದ್ದ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತನೂ ದೂರವಾಗುವನು.

Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.

5 ೫ ಸುಳ್ಳುಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯು ಶಿಕ್ಷಿಸಲ್ಪಡದೆ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಸುಳ್ಳಾಡುವವನು ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳನು.

A false witness shall not be unpunished, and [he that] speaketh lies shall not escape.

6 ೬ ಉದಾರಿಯ ಕಟಾಕ್ಷವನ್ನು ಅನೇಕರು ಕೋರುವರು, ದಾನಶೂರನಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನೂ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತನಲ್ಲವೇ.

Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man [is] a friend to him that giveth gifts.

7 ೭ ಬಡವನನ್ನು ಬಂಧುಗಳೆಲ್ಲಾ ಹಗೆಮಾಡುವರು, ಹೌದು, ಮಿತ್ರರೂ ಅವನಿಗೆ ದೂರವಾಗುವರು. ಅವರ ಬರೀ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ನಂಬಿ ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿದರೆ ಏನೂ ಸಿಕ್ಕದು.

All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth [them with] words, [yet] they [are] wanting [to him].

8 ೮ ಬುದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನು ಸಂಪಾದಿಸುವವನು ತನಗೆ ತಾನೇ ಮಿತ್ರನು, ವಿವೇಕವನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡುವವನು ಮೇಲನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುವನು.

He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.

9 ೯ ಸುಳ್ಳುಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯು ಶಿಕ್ಷಿಸಲ್ಪಡದೆ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಸುಳ್ಳಾಡುವವನು ಹಾಳಾಗುವನು.

A false witness shall not be unpunished, and [he that] speaketh lies shall perish.

10 ೧೦ ಮೂಢನಿಗೆ ಸುಖಭೋಗ ಜೀವನ ಯುಕ್ತವಲ್ಲ, ದಾಸನಿಗೆ ದೊರೆಗಳ ಮೇಲಣ ದೊರೆತನ ಯುಕ್ತವಲ್ಲ.

Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.

11 ೧೧ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ವಿವೇಕವು ಅವನ ಸಿಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡಿ, ಪರರ ದೋಷವನ್ನು ಲಕ್ಷಿಸದಿರುವುದು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಭೂಷಣ.

The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and [it is] his glory to pass over a transgression.

12 ೧೨ ರಾಜನ ರೋಷವು ಸಿಂಹದ ಗರ್ಜನೆ, ಅವನ ದಯೆಯು ಪೈರಿನ ಇಬ್ಬನಿ.

The king’s wrath [is] as the roaring of a lion; but his favour [is] as dew upon the grass.

13 ೧೩ ಜ್ಞಾನಹೀನನಾದ ಮಗನು ತಂದೆಗೆ ಹಾನಿ, ಜಗಳವಾಡುವ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯು ತಟತಟನೆ ತೊಟ್ಟಿಕ್ಕುವ ಹನಿ.

A foolish son [is] the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife [are] a continual dropping.

14 ೧೪ ಮನೆಮಾರು, ಆಸ್ತಿಪಾಸ್ತಿಯು ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರಿಂದ ದೊರಕುವವು, ವಿವೇಕಿನಿಯಾದ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಅನುಗ್ರಹವೇ.

House and riches [are] the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife [is] from the LORD.

15 ೧೫ ಮೈಗಳ್ಳತನವು ಗಾಢನಿದ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಳುಗಿಸುವುದು, ಸೋಮಾರಿಯು ಹಸಿವೆಗೊಳ್ಳುವನು.

Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.

16 ೧೬ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನು ಪಾಲಿಸುವವನು ಆತ್ಮವನ್ನು ಪಾಲಿಸುವನು, ನಡತೆಯನ್ನು ಲಕ್ಷಿಸದವನು ಸಾಯುವನು.

He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; [but] he that despiseth his ways shall die.

17 ೧೭ ಬಡವರಿಗೆ ದಯೆತೋರಿಸುವವನು ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ ಸಾಲಕೊಡುವವನು, ಆ ಉಪಕಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಯೆಹೋವನೇ ಪ್ರತ್ಯುಪಕಾರ ಮಾಡುವನು.

He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

18 ೧೮ ಬುದ್ಧಿ ಬರುವುದೆಂಬ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಯಿಂದ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಶಿಕ್ಷಿಸು, ಹಾಳುಮಾಡಲು ಮನಸ್ಸು ಮಾಡಬೇಡ,

Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.

19 ೧೯ ಕೋಪಿಷ್ಠನು ತನಗಾಗುವ ದಂಡನೆಯನ್ನು ಅನುಭವಿಸಲಿ, ಬಿಡಿಸಿದರೆ ಪ್ರತಿಬಾರಿಯೂ ಬಿಡಿಸಬೇಕಾಗುವುದು.

A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver [him], yet thou must do it again.

20 ೨೦ ಬುದ್ಧಿವಾದವನ್ನು ಕೇಳು, ಉಪದೇಶವನ್ನಾಲಿಸು, ಮುಂದೆ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯಾಗುವಿ.

Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

21 ೨೧ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅನೇಕ ಸಂಕಲ್ಪಗಳಿವೆ, ಯೆಹೋವನ ಸಂಕಲ್ಪವೇ ಈಡೇರುವುದು.

[There are] many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

22 ೨೨ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ತನ್ನ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಯಸುವಂಥದ್ದು ನಿಷ್ಠೆಯಾಗಿದೆ, ಬಡವನಾಗಿರುವುದು ಉತ್ತಮ.

The desire of a man [is] his kindness: and a poor man [is] better than a liar.

23 ೨೩ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಭಯವು ಜೀವದಾಯಕವು, ಭಯಭಕ್ತಿಯುಳ್ಳವನು ತೃಪ್ತನಾಗಿ ನೆಲೆಗೊಳ್ಳುವನು, ಅವನಿಗೆ ಕೇಡು ಸಂಭವಿಸದು.

The fear of the LORD [tendeth] to life: and [he that hath it] shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

24 ೨೪ ಮೈಗಳ್ಳನು ಪಾತ್ರೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಕೈ ಮುಳುಗಿಸಿದ ಮೇಲೆ, ತಿರುಗಿ ಬಾಯಿಯ ಹತ್ತಿರಕ್ಕೆ ತರಲಾರನು.

A slothful [man] hideth his hand in [his] bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.

25 ೨೫ ಧರ್ಮನಿಂದಕನಿಗೆ ಪೆಟ್ಟುಹೊಡೆ, ನೋಡಿದ ಅವಿವೇಕಿ ಜಾಣನಾಗುವನು, ವಿವೇಕಿಯನ್ನು ಗದರಿಸು, ತಾನೇ ತಿಳಿವಳಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಗ್ರಹಿಸುವನು.

Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, [and] he will understand knowledge.

26 ೨೬ ತಂದೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದು, ತಾಯಿಯನ್ನು ಓಡಿಸುವ ಮಗನು, ನಾಚಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಅವಮಾನವನ್ನು ಉಂಟುಮಾಡುವನು.

He that wasteth [his] father, [and] chaseth away [his] mother, [is] a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.

27 ೨೭ ಮಗನೇ, ಬುದ್ಧಿವಾದಗಳನ್ನು ಅನುಸರಿಸಲಿಕ್ಕೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೆ, ಉಪದೇಶ ಕೇಳುವುದನ್ನೇ ಬಿಟ್ಟುಬಿಡು.

Cease, my son, to hear the instruction [that causeth] to err from the words of knowledge.

28 ೨೮ ನೀಚ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯು ನ್ಯಾಯವನ್ನು ಗೇಲಿಮಾಡುವನು, ದುಷ್ಟರ ಬಾಯಿ ದ್ರೋಹವನ್ನು ಆತುರದಿಂದ ನುಂಗುವುದು.

An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.

29 ೨೯ ಧರ್ಮನಿಂದಕರಿಗೆ ದಂಡನೆಯ ತೀರ್ಪು ಸಿದ್ಧ, ಮೂಢರ ಬೆನ್ನಿಗೆ ಪೆಟ್ಟು ಖಂಡಿತ.

Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.
