テトスへの手紙 3
1 あなたは彼らに注意を与えて、支配者たちと権威者たちに服従し、従順で、すべての良いわざを進んでする者とならせなさい。
Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,
2 また、だれをもそしらず、争わず、柔和で、すべての人に優しい態度を示す者とならせなさい。
To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, showing all meekness unto all men.
3 私たちも以前は、愚かな者であり、不従順で、迷った者であり、いろいろな欲情と快楽の奴隷になり、悪意とねたみの中に生活し、憎まれ者であり、互いに憎み合う者でした。
For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
4 しかし、私たちの救い主なる神のいつくしみと人への愛とが現われたとき、
But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
5 神は、私たちが行なった義のわざによってではなく、ご自分のあわれみのゆえに、聖霊による、新生と更新との洗いをもって私たちを救ってくださいました。
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit; (pneuma)
6 神は、この聖霊を、私たちの救い主なるイエス・キリストによって、私たちに豊かに注いでくださったのです。
Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
8 これは信頼できることばですから、私は、あなたがこれらのことについて、確信をもって話すように願っています。それは、神を信じている人々が、良いわざに励むことを心がけるようになるためです。これらのことは良いことであって、人々に有益なことです。
This is a faithful saying, (logos) and these things I will that you affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
9 しかし、愚かな議論、系図、口論、律法についての論争などを避けなさい。それらは無益で、むだなものです。
But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are useless and vain.
10 分派を起こす者は、一、二度戒めてから、除名しなさい。
A man that is an heretic after the first and second admonition reject;
11 このような人は、あなたも知っているとおり、堕落しており、自分で悪いと知りながら罪を犯しているのです。
Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sins, being condemned of himself.
12 私がアルテマスかテキコをあなたのもとに送ったら、あなたは、何としてでも、ニコポリにいる私のところに来てください。私はそこで冬を過ごすことに決めています。
When I shall send Artemas unto you, or Tychicus, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis: for I have determined there to winter.
13 ぜひとも、律法学者ゼナスとアポロとが旅に出られるようにし、彼らが不自由しないように世話をしてあげなさい。
Bring Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey diligently, that nothing be lacking unto them.
14 私たち一同も、なくてならないもののために、正しい仕事に励むように教えられなければなりません。それは、実を結ばない者にならないためです。
And let our's also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.
15 私といっしょにいる者たち一同が、あなたによろしくと言っています。私たちの信仰の友である人々に、よろしく言ってください。恵みが、あなたがたすべてとともにありますように。
