テトスへの手紙 2
1 しかし、あなたは健全な教えにふさわしいことを話しなさい。
But speak you the things which become sound doctrine:
2 老人たちには、自制し、謹厳で、慎み深くし、信仰と愛と忍耐とにおいて健全であるように。
That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in love, (agape) in patience.
3 同じように、年をとった婦人たちには、神に仕えている者らしく敬虔にふるまい、悪口を言わず、大酒のとりこにならず、良いことを教える者であるように。
The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becomes holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
4 そうすれば、彼女たちは、若い婦人たちに向かって、夫を愛し、子どもを愛し、
That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
5 慎み深く、貞潔で、家事に励み、優しく、自分の夫に従順であるようにと、さとすことができるのです。それは、神のことばがそしられるようなことのないためです。
To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word (logos) of God be not blasphemed.
6 同じように、若い人々には、思慮深くあるように勧めなさい。
Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.
7 また、すべての点で自分自身が良いわざの模範となり、教えにおいては純正で、威厳を保ち、
In all things showing yourself a pattern of good works: in doctrine showing incorruptness, gravity, sincerity,
8 非難すべきところのない、健全なことばを用いなさい。そうすれば、敵対する者も、私たちについて、何も悪いことが言えなくなって、恥じ入ることになるでしょう。
Sound speech, (logos) that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
9 奴隷には、すべての点で自分の主人に従って、満足を与え、口答えせず、
Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;
10 盗みをせず、努めて真実を表わすように勧めなさい。それは、彼らがあらゆることで、私たちの救い主である神の教えを飾るようになるためです。
Not embezzling, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
11 というのは、すべての人を救う神の恵みが現われ、
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,
Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; (aiōn g165)
13 祝福された望み、すなわち、大いなる神であり私たちの救い主であるキリスト・イエスの栄光ある現われを待ち望むようにと教えさとしたからです。
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 キリストが私たちのためにご自身をささげられたのは、私たちをすべての不法から贖い出し、良いわざに熱心なご自分の民を、ご自分のためにきよめるためでした。
Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself an exclusive people, zealous of good works.
15 あなたは、これらのことを十分な権威をもって話し、勧め、また、責めなさい。だれにも軽んじられてはいけません。
These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise you.
