マタイの福音書 6
1 人に見せるために人前で善行をしないように気をつけなさい。そうでないと、天におられるあなたがたの父から、報いが受けられません。
Take heed that you do not your justice before men, to be seen by them: otherwise you shall not have a reward of your Father who is in heaven.
2 だから、施しをするときには、人にほめられたくて会堂や通りで施しをする偽善者たちのように、自分の前でラッパを吹いてはいけません。まことに、あなたがたに告げます。彼らはすでに自分の報いを受け取っているのです。
Therefore when thou dost an almsdeed, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be honoured by men. Amen I say to you, they have received their reward.
3 あなたは、施しをするとき、右の手のしていることを左の手に知られないようにしなさい。
But when thou dost alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doth.
4 あなたの施しが隠れているためです。そうすれば、隠れた所で見ておられるあなたの父が、あなたに報いてくださいます。
That thy alms may be in secret, and thy Father who seeth in secret will repay thee.
5 また、祈るときには、偽善者たちのようであってはいけません。彼らは、人に見られたくて会堂や通りの四つ角に立って祈るのが好きだからです。まことに、あなたがたに告げます。彼らはすでに自分の報いを受け取っているのです。
And when ye pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites, that love to stand and pray in the synagogues and corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men: Amen I say to you, they have received their reward.
6 あなたは、祈るときには自分の奥まった部屋にはいりなさい。そして、戸をしめて、隠れた所におられるあなたの父に祈りなさい。そうすれば、隠れた所で見ておられるあなたの父が、あなたに報いてくださいます。
But thou when thou shalt pray, enter into thy chamber, and having shut the door, pray to thy Father in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret will repay thee.
7 また、祈るとき、異邦人のように同じことばを、ただくり返してはいけません。彼らはことば数が多ければ聞かれると思っているのです。
And when you are praying, speak not much, as the heathens. For they think that in their much speaking they may be heard.
8 だから、彼らのまねをしてはいけません。あなたがたの父なる神は、あなたがたがお願いする先に、あなたがたに必要なものを知っておられるからです。
Be not you therefore like to them, for your Father knoweth what is needful for you, before you ask him.
9 だから、こう祈りなさい。 『天にいます私たちの父よ。 御名があがめられますように。
Thus therefore shall you pray: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
10 御国が来ますように。 みこころが天で行なわれるように地でも行なわれますように。
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
11 私たちの日ごとの糧をきょうもお与えください。
Give us this day our supersubstantial bread.
12 私たちの負いめをお赦しください。 私たちも、私たちに負いめのある人たちを赦しました。
And forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors.
13 私たちを試みに会わせないで、悪からお救いください。』［国と力と栄えは、とこしえにあなたのものだからです。アーメン。］
And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. Amen.
14 もし人の罪を赦すなら、あなたがたの天の父もあなたがたを赦してくださいます。
For if you will forgive men their offences, your heavenly Father will forgive you also your offences.
15 しかし、人を赦さないなら、あなたがたの父もあなたがたの罪をお赦しになりません。
But if you will not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive you your offences.
16 断食するときには、偽善者たちのようにやつれた顔つきをしてはいけません。彼らは、断食していることが人に見えるようにと、その顔をやつすのです。まことに、あなたがたに告げます。彼らはすでに自分の報いを受け取っているのです。
And when you fast, be not as the hypocrites, sad. For they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Amen I say to you, they have received their reward.
17 しかし、あなたが断食するときには、自分の頭に油を塗り、顔を洗いなさい。
But thou, when thou fastest anoint thy head, and wash thy face;
18 それは、断食していることが、人には見られないで、隠れた所におられるあなたの父に見られるためです。そうすれば、隠れた所で見ておられるあなたの父が報いてくださいます。
That thou appear not to men to fast, but to thy Father who is in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret, will repay thee.
19 自分の宝を地上にたくわえるのはやめなさい。そこでは虫とさびで、きず物になり、また盗人が穴をあけて盗みます。
Lay not up to yourselves treasures on earth: where the rust, and moth consume, and where thieves break through and steal.
20 自分の宝は、天にたくわえなさい。そこでは、虫もさびもつかず、盗人が穴をあけて盗むこともありません。
But lay up to yourselves treasures in heaven: where neither the rust nor moth doth consume, and where thieves do not break through, nor steal.
21 あなたの宝のあるところに、あなたの心もあるからです。
For where thy treasure is, there is thy heart also.
22 からだのあかりは目です。それで、もしあなたの目が健全なら、あなたの全身が明るいが、
The light of thy body is thy eye. If thy eye be single, thy whole body shall be lightsome.
23 もし、目が悪ければ、あなたの全身が暗いでしょう。それなら、もしあなたのうちの光が暗ければ、その暗さはどんなでしょう。
But if thy eye be evil thy whole body shall be darksome. If then the light that is in thee, be darkness: the darkness itself how great shall it be!
24 だれも、ふたりの主人に仕えることはできません。一方を憎んで他方を愛したり、一方を重んじて他方を軽んじたりするからです。あなたがたは、神にも仕え、また富にも仕えるということはできません。
No man can serve two masters. For either he will hate the one, and love the other: or he will sustain the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
25 だから、わたしはあなたがたに言います。自分のいのちのことで、何を食べようか、何を飲もうかと心配したり、また、からだのことで、何を着ようかと心配したりしてはいけません。いのちは食べ物よりたいせつなもの、からだは着物よりたいせつなものではありませんか。
Therefore I say to you, be not solicitous for your life, what you shall eat, nor for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than the meat: and the body more than the raiment?
26 空の鳥を見なさい。種蒔きもせず、刈り入れもせず、倉に納めることもしません。けれども、あなたがたの天の父がこれを養っていてくださるのです。あなたがたは、鳥よりも、もっとすぐれたものではありませんか。
Behold the birds of the air, for they neither sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns: and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not you of much more value than they?
27 あなたがたのうちだれが、心配したからといって、自分のいのちを少しでも延ばすことができますか。
And which of you by taking thought, can add to his stature by one cubit?
28 なぜ着物のことで心配するのですか。野のゆりがどうして育つのか、よくわきまえなさい。働きもせず、紡ぎもしません。
And for raiment why are you solicitous? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they labour not, neither do they spin.
29 しかし、わたしはあなたがたに言います。栄華を窮めたソロモンでさえ、このような花の一つほどにも着飾ってはいませんでした。
But I say to you, that not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed as one of these.
30 きょうあっても、あすは炉に投げ込まれる野の草さえ、神はこれほどに装ってくださるのだから、ましてあなたがたに、よくしてくださらないわけがありましょうか。信仰の薄い人たち。
And if the grass of the field, which is today, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, God doth so clothe: how much more you, O ye of little faith?
31 そういうわけだから、何を食べるか、何を飲むか、何を着るか、などと言って心配するのはやめなさい。
Be not solicitous therefore, saying, What shall we eat: or what shall we drink, or wherewith shall we be clothed?
32 こういうものはみな、異邦人が切に求めているものなのです。しかし、あなたがたの天の父は、それがみなあなたがたに必要であることを知っておられます。
For after all these things do the heathens seek. For your Father knoweth that you have need of all these things.
33 だから、神の国とその義とをまず第一に求めなさい。そうすれば、それに加えて、これらのものはすべて与えられます。
Seek ye therefore first the kingdom of God, and his justice, and all these things shall be added unto you.
34 だから、あすのための心配は無用です。あすのことはあすが心配します。労苦はその日その日に、十分あります。
Be not therefore solicitous for tomorrow; for the morrow will be solicitous for itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof.
