マタイの福音書 26
1 イエスは、これらの話をすべて終えると、弟子たちに言われた。
And it came to pass when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said to his disciples,
2 「あなたがたの知っているとおり、二日たつと過越の祭りになります。人の子は十字架につけられるために引き渡されます。」
Ye know that after two days the passover takes place, and the Son of man is delivered up to be crucified.
3 そのころ、祭司長、民の長老たちは、カヤパという大祭司の家の庭に集まり、
Then the chief priests and the elders of the people were gathered together to the palace of the high priest who was called Caiaphas,
4 イエスをだまして捕え、殺そうと相談した。
and took counsel together in order that they might seize Jesus by subtlety and kill him;
5 しかし、彼らは、「祭りの間はいけない。民衆の騒ぎが起こるといけないから。」と話していた。
but they said, Not in the feast, that there be not a tumult among the people.
6 さて、イエスがベタニヤで、らい病人シモンの家におられると、
But Jesus being in Bethany, in Simon the leper's house,
7 ひとりの女がたいへん高価な香油のはいった石膏のつぼを持ってみもとに来て、食卓に着いておられたイエスの頭に香油を注いだ。
a woman, having an alabaster flask of very precious ointment, came to him and poured it out upon his head as he lay at table.
8 弟子たちはこれを見て、憤慨して言った。「何のために、こんなむだなことをするのか。
But the disciples seeing it became indignant, saying, To what end [was] this waste?
9 この香油なら、高く売れて、貧乏な人たちに施しができたのに。」
for this might have been sold for much and been given to the poor.
10 するとイエスはこれを知って、彼らに言われた。「なぜ、この女を困らせるのです。わたしに対してりっぱなことをしてくれたのです。
But Jesus knowing [it] said to them, Why do ye trouble the woman? for she has wrought a good work toward me.
11 貧しい人たちは、いつもあなたがたといっしょにいます。しかし、わたしは、いつもあなたがたといっしょにいるわけではありません。
For ye have the poor always with you, but me ye have not always.
12 この女が、この香油をわたしのからだに注いだのは、わたしの埋葬の用意をしてくれたのです。
For in pouring out this ointment on my body, she has done it for my burying.
13 まことに、あなたがたに告げます。世界中のどこででも、この福音が宣べ伝えられる所なら、この人のした事も語られて、この人の記念となるでしょう。」
Verily I say to you, Wheresoever these glad tidings may be preached in the whole world, that also which this [woman] has done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.
14 そのとき、十二弟子のひとりで、イスカリオテ・ユダという者が、祭司長たちのところへ行って、
Then one of the twelve, he who was called Judas Iscariote, went to the chief priests
15 こう言った。「彼をあなたがたに売るとしたら、いったいいくらくれますか。」すると、彼らは銀貨三十枚を彼に支払った。
and said, What are ye willing to give me, and I will deliver him up to you? And they appointed to him thirty pieces of silver.
16 そのときから、彼はイエスを引き渡す機会をねらっていた。
And from that time he sought a good opportunity that he might deliver him up.
17 さて、種なしパンの祝いの第一日に、弟子たちがイエスのところに来て言った。「過越の食事をなさるのに、私たちはどこで用意をしましょうか。」
Now on the first [day] of [the feast of] unleavened bread, the disciples came to Jesus, saying, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?
18 イエスは言われた。「都にはいって、これこれの人のところに行って、『先生が「わたしの時が近づいた。わたしの弟子たちといっしょに、あなたのところで過越を守ろう。」と言っておられる。』と言いなさい。」
And he said, Go into the city unto such a one, and say to him, The Teacher says, My time is near, I will keep the passover in thy house with my disciples.
19 そこで、弟子たちはイエスに言いつけられたとおりにして、過越の食事の用意をした。
And the disciples did as Jesus had directed them, and they prepared the passover.
20 さて、夕方になって、イエスは十二弟子といっしょに食卓に着かれた。
And when the evening was come he lay down at table with the twelve.
21 みなが食事をしているとき、イエスは言われた。「まことに、あなたがたに告げます。あなたがたのうちひとりが、わたしを裏切ります。」
And as they were eating he said, Verily I say to you, that one of you shall deliver me up.
22 すると、弟子たちは非常に悲しんで、「主よ。まさか私のことではないでしょう。」とかわるがわるイエスに言った。
And being exceedingly grieved they began to say to him, each of them, Is it I, Lord?
23 イエスは答えて言われた。「わたしといっしょに鉢に手を浸した者が、わたしを裏切るのです。
But he answering said, He that dips his hand with me in the dish, he it is who shall deliver me up.
24 確かに、人の子は、自分について書いてあるとおりに、去って行きます。しかし、人の子を裏切るような人間はのろわれます。そういう人は生まれなかったほうがよかったのです。」
The Son of man goes indeed, according as it is written concerning him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is delivered up; it were good for that man if he had not been born.
25 すると、イエスを裏切ろうとしていたユダが答えて言った。「先生。まさか私のことではないでしょう。」イエスは彼に、「いや、そうだ。」と言われた。
And Judas, who delivered him up, answering said, Is it I, Rabbi? He says to him, Thou hast said.
26 また、彼らが食事をしているとき、イエスはパンを取り、祝福して後、これを裂き、弟子たちに与えて言われた。「取って食べなさい。これはわたしのからだです。」
And as they were eating, Jesus, having taken [the] bread and blessed, broke [it] and gave [it] to the disciples, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.
27 また杯を取り、感謝をささげて後、こう言って彼らにお与えになった。「みな、この杯から飲みなさい。
And having taken [the] cup and given thanks, he gave [it] to them, saying, Drink ye all of it.
28 これは、わたしの契約の血です。罪を赦すために多くの人のために流されるものです。
For this is my blood, that of the [new] covenant, that shed for many for remission of sins.
29 ただ、言っておきます。わたしの父の御国で、あなたがたと新しく飲むその日までは、わたしはもはや、ぶどうの実で造った物を飲むことはありません。」
But I say to you, that I will not at all drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in the kingdom of my Father.
30 そして、賛美の歌を歌ってから、みなオリーブ山へ出かけて行った。
And having sung a hymn, they went out to the mount of Olives.
31 そのとき、イエスは弟子たちに言われた。「あなたがたはみな、今夜、わたしのゆえにつまずきます。『わたしが羊飼いを打つ。すると、羊の群れは散り散りになる。』と書いてあるからです。
Then saith Jesus to them, All ye shall be offended in me during this night. For it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.
32 しかしわたしは、よみがえってから、あなたがたより先に、ガリラヤへ行きます。」
But after that I shall be risen, I will go before you to Galilee.
33 すると、ペテロがイエスに答えて言った。「たとい全部の者があなたのゆえにつまずいても、私は決してつまずきません。」
And Peter answering said to him, If all shall be offended in thee, I will never be offended.
34 イエスは彼に言われた。「まことに、あなたに告げます。今夜、鶏が鳴く前に、あなたは三度、わたしを知らないと言います。」
Jesus said to him, Verily I say to thee, that during this night, before [the] cock shall crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
35 ペテロは言った。「たとい、ごいっしょに死ななければならないとしても、私は、あなたを知らないなどとは決して申しません。」弟子たちはみなそう言った。
Peter says to him, If I should needs die with thee, I will in no wise deny thee. Likewise said all the disciples also.
36 それからイエスは弟子たちといっしょにゲツセマネという所に来て、彼らに言われた。「わたしがあそこに行って祈っている間、ここにすわっていなさい。」
Then Jesus comes with them to a place called Gethsemane, and says to the disciples, Sit here until I go away and pray yonder.
37 それから、ペテロとゼベダイの子ふたりとをいっしょに連れて行かれたが、イエスは悲しみもだえ始められた。
And taking with [him] Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and deeply depressed.
38 そのとき、イエスは彼らに言われた。「わたしは悲しみのあまり死ぬほどです。ここを離れないで、わたしといっしょに目をさましていなさい。」
Then he says to them, My soul is very sorrowful even unto death; remain here and watch with me.
39 それから、イエスは少し進んで行って、ひれ伏して祈って言われた。「わが父よ。できますならば、この杯をわたしから過ぎ去らせてください。しかし、わたしの願うようにではなく、あなたのみこころのように、なさってください。」
And going forward a little he fell upon his face, praying and saying, My Father, if it be possible let this cup pass from me; but not as I will, but as thou [wilt].
40 それから、イエスは弟子たちのところに戻って来て、彼らの眠っているのを見つけ、ペテロに言われた。「あなたがたは、そんなに、一時間でも、わたしといっしょに目をさましていることができなかったのか。
And he comes to the disciples and finds them sleeping, and says to Peter, Thus ye have not been able to watch one hour with me?
41 誘惑に陥らないように、目をさまして、祈っていなさい。心は燃えていても、肉体は弱いのです。」
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed [is] ready, but the flesh weak.
42 イエスは二度目に離れて行き、祈って言われた。「わが父よ。どうしても飲まずには済まされぬ杯でしたら、どうぞみこころのとおりをなさってください。」
Again going away a second time he prayed saying, My Father, if this cannot pass [from me] unless I drink it, thy will be done.
43 イエスが戻って来て、ご覧になると、彼らはまたも眠っていた。目をあけていることができなかったのである。
And coming he found them again sleeping, for their eyes were heavy.
44 イエスは、またも彼らを置いて行かれ、もう一度同じことをくり返して三度目の祈りをされた。
And leaving them, he went away again and prayed the third time, saying the same thing.
45 それから、イエスは弟子たちのところに来て言われた。「まだ眠って休んでいるのですか。見なさい。時が来ました。人の子は罪人たちの手に渡されるのです。
Then he comes to the disciples and says to them, Sleep on now and take your rest; behold, the hour has drawn nigh, and the Son of man is delivered up into the hands of sinners.
46 立ちなさい。さあ、行くのです。見なさい。わたしを裏切る者が近づきました。」
Arise, let us go; behold, he that delivers me up has drawn nigh.
47 イエスがまだ話しておられるうちに、見よ、十二弟子のひとりであるユダがやって来た。剣や棒を手にした大ぜいの群衆もいっしょであった。群衆はみな、祭司長、民の長老たちから差し向けられたものであった。
And while he was yet speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great crowd with swords and sticks from the chief priests and elders of the people.
48 イエスを裏切る者は、彼らと合図を決めて、「私が口づけをするのが、その人だ。その人をつかまえるのだ。」と言っておいた。
Now he that delivered him up had given them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, he it is: seize him.
49 それで、彼はすぐにイエスに近づき、「先生。お元気で。」と言って、口づけした。
And immediately coming up to Jesus he said, Hail, Rabbi, and covered him with kisses.
50 イエスは彼に、「友よ。何のために来たのですか。」と言われた。そのとき、群衆が来て、イエスに手をかけて捕えた。
But Jesus said to him, [My] friend, for what purpose art thou come? Then coming up they laid hands upon Jesus and seized him.
51 すると、イエスといっしょにいた者のひとりが、手を伸ばして剣を抜き、大祭司のしもべに撃ってかかり、その耳を切り落とした。
And behold, one of those with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, and smiting the bondman of the high priest took off his ear.
52 そのとき、イエスは彼に言われた。「剣をもとに納めなさい。剣を取る者はみな剣で滅びます。
Then saith Jesus to him, Return thy sword to its place; for all who take the sword shall perish by the sword.
53 それとも、わたしが父にお願いして、十二軍団よりも多くの御使いを、今わたしの配下に置いていただくことができないとでも思うのですか。
Or thinkest thou that I cannot now call upon my Father, and he will furnish me more than twelve legions of angels?
54 だが、そのようなことをすれば、こうならなければならないと書いてある聖書が、どうして実現されましょう。」
How then should the scriptures be fulfilled that thus it must be?
55 そのとき、イエスは群衆に言われた。「まるで強盗にでも向かうように、剣や棒を持ってわたしをつかまえに来たのですか。わたしは毎日、宮ですわって教えていたのに、あなたがたは、わたしを捕えなかったのです。
In that hour Jesus said to the crowds, Are ye come out as against a robber with swords and sticks to take me? I sat daily [with you] teaching in the temple, and ye did not seize me.
56 しかし、すべてこうなったのは、預言者たちの書が実現するためです。」そのとき、弟子たちはみな、イエスを見捨てて、逃げてしまった。
But all this is come to pass that the scriptures of the prophets may be fulfilled. Then all the disciples left him and fled.
57 イエスをつかまえた人たちは、イエスを大祭司カヤパのところへ連れて行った。そこには、律法学者、長老たちが集まっていた。
Now they that had seized Jesus led [him] away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.
58 しかし、ペテロも遠くからイエスのあとをつけながら、大祭司の中庭まではいって行き、成り行きを見ようと役人たちといっしょにすわった。
And Peter followed him at a distance, even to the palace of the high priest, and entering in sat with the officers to see the end.
59 さて、祭司長たちと全議会は、イエスを死刑にするために、イエスを訴える偽証を求めていた。
And the chief priests and the elders and the whole sanhedrim sought false witness against Jesus, so that they might put him to death.
60 偽証者がたくさん出て来たが、証拠はつかめなかった。しかし、最後にふたりの者が進み出て、
And they found none, though many false witnesses came forward. But at the last two false witnesses came forward
61 言った。「この人は、『わたしは神の神殿をこわして、それを三日のうちに建て直せる。』と言いました。」
and said, He said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and in three days build it.
62 そこで、大祭司は立ち上がってイエスに言った。「何も答えないのですか。この人たちが、あなたに不利な証言をしていますが、これはどうなのですか。」
And the high priest standing up said to him, Answerest thou nothing? What do these witness against thee?
63 しかし、イエスは黙っておられた。それで、大祭司はイエスに言った。「私は、生ける神によって、あなたに命じます。あなたは神の子キリストなのか、どうか。その答えを言いなさい。」
But Jesus was silent. And the high priest answering said to him, I adjure thee by the living God that thou tell us if thou art the Christ the Son of God.
64 イエスは彼に言われた。「あなたの言うとおりです。なお、あなたがたに言っておきますが、今からのち、人の子が、力ある方の右の座に着き、天の雲に乗って来るのを、あなたがたは見ることになります。」
Jesus says to him, Thou hast said. Moreover, I say to you, From henceforth ye shall see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.
65 すると、大祭司は、自分の衣を引き裂いて言った。「神への冒涜だ。これでもまだ、証人が必要でしょうか。あなたがたは、今、神をけがすことばを聞いたのです。
Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He has blasphemed: what need have we any more of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard the blasphemy.
66 どう考えますか。」彼らは答えて、「彼は死刑に当たる。」と言った。
What think ye? And they answering said, He is liable to the penalty of death.
67 そうして、彼らはイエスの顔につばきをかけ、こぶしでなぐりつけ、また、他の者たちは、イエスを平手で打って、
Then they spit in his face, and buffeted him, and some struck him with the palms of their hand,
68 こう言った。「当ててみろ。キリスト。あなたを打ったのはだれか。」
saying, Prophesy to us, Christ, Who is it who struck thee?
69 ペテロが外の中庭にすわっていると、女中のひとりが来て言った。「あなたも、ガリラヤ人イエスといっしょにいましたね。」
But Peter sat without in the palace-court; and a maid came to him, saying, And thou wast with Jesus the Galilaean.
70 しかし、ペテロはみなの前でそれを打ち消して、「何を言っているのか、私にはわからない。」と言った。
But he denied before all, saying, I do not know what thou sayest.
71 そして、ペテロが入口まで出て行くと、ほかの女中が、彼を見て、そこにいる人々に言った。「この人はナザレ人イエスといっしょでした。」
And when he had gone out into the entrance, another [maid] saw him, and says to those there, This [man] also was with Jesus the Nazaraean.
72 それで、ペテロは、またもそれを打ち消し、誓って、「そんな人は知らない。」と言った。
And again he denied with an oath: I do not know the man.
73 しばらくすると、そのあたりに立っている人々がペテロに近寄って来て、「確かに、あなたもあの仲間だ。ことばのなまりではっきりわかる。」と言った。
And after a little, those who stood [there], coming to [him], said to Peter, Truly thou too art of them, for also thy speech makes thee manifest.
74 すると彼は、「そんな人は知らない。」と言って、のろいをかけて誓い始めた。するとすぐに、鶏が鳴いた。
Then he began to curse and to swear, I know not the man. And immediately [the] cock crew.
75 そこでペテロは、「鶏が鳴く前に三度、あなたは、わたしを知らないと言います。」とイエスの言われたあのことばを思い出した。そうして、彼は出て行って、激しく泣いた。
And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, who had said [to him], Before [the] cock crow thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went forth without, and wept bitterly.
