箴言 知恵の泉 5
1 わが子よ、わたしの知恵に心をとめ、わたしの悟りに耳をかたむけよ。
My son, attend to my wisdom, and bow thy ear to my understanding:
2 これは、あなたが慎みを守り、あなたのくちびるに知識を保つためである。
That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.
3 遊女のくちびるは蜜をしたたらせ、その言葉は油よりもなめらかである。
For the lips of an adulteress drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:
4 しかしついには、彼女はにがよもぎのように苦く、もろ刃のつるぎのように鋭くなる。
But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword.
Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell. (Sheol h7585)
6 彼女はいのちの道に心をとめず、その道は人を迷わすが、彼女はそれを知らない。
Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are unstable, that thou canst not know them.
7 子供らよ、今わたしの言うことを聞け、わたしの口の言葉から、離れ去ってはならない。
Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
8 あなたの道を彼女から遠く離し、その家の門に近づいてはならない。
Remove thy way far from her, and come not near the door of her house:
9 おそらくはあなたの誉を他人にわたし、あなたの年を無慈悲な者にわたすに至る。
Lest thou give thy honour to others, and thy years to the cruel:
10 おそらくは他人があなたの資産によって満たされ、あなたの労苦は他人の家に行く。
Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;
11 そしてあなたの終りが来て、あなたの身と、からだが滅びるとき、泣き悲しんで、
And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,
12 言うであろう、「わたしは教訓をいとい、心に戒めを軽んじ、
And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
13 教師の声に聞き従わず、わたしを教える者に耳を傾けず、
And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined my ear to them that instructed me!
14 集まりの中、会衆のうちにあって、わたしは、破滅に陥りかけた」と。
I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
15 あなたは自分の水ためから水を飲み、自分の井戸から、わき出す水を飲むがよい。
Drink waters out of thy own cistern, and running waters out of thy own well.
16 あなたの泉を、外にまきちらし、水の流れを、ちまたに流してよかろうか。
Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.
17 それを自分だけのものとし、他人を共にあずからせてはならない。
Let them be only thy own, and not for strangers with thee.
18 あなたの泉に祝福を受けさせ、あなたの若い時の妻を楽しめ。
Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.
19 彼女は愛らしい雌じか、美しいしかのようだ。いつも、その乳ぶさをもって満足し、その愛をもって常に喜べ。
Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.
20 わが子よ、どうして遊女に迷い、みだらな女の胸をいだくのか。
And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with an adulteress, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
21 人の道は主の目の前にあり、主はすべて、その行いを見守られる。
For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.
22 悪しき者は自分のとがに捕えられ、自分の罪のなわにつながれる。
His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be held with the cords of his sins.
23 彼は、教訓がないために死に、その愚かさの大きいことによって滅びる。
He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
