マタイの福音書 5
1 イエスはこの群衆を見て、山に登り、座につかれると、弟子たちがみもとに近寄ってきた。
And having seen the multitudes, he went up onto the mountain. And when he sat down, his disciples came to him.
2 そこで、イエスは口を開き、彼らに教えて言われた。
And having opened his mouth, he taught them, saying,
3 「こころの貧しい人たちは、さいわいである、天国は彼らのものである。
Blessed are the poor in spirit, because the kingdom of the heavens is theirs.
4 悲しんでいる人たちは、さいわいである、彼らは慰められるであろう。
Blessed are those who mourn, because they will be comforted.
5 柔和な人たちは、さいわいである、彼らは地を受けつぐであろう。
Blessed are the meek, because they will inherit the earth.
6 義に飢えかわいている人たちは、さいわいである、彼らは飽き足りるようになるであろう。
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, because they will be filled.
7 あわれみ深い人たちは、さいわいである、彼らはあわれみを受けるであろう。
Blessed are the merciful, because they will obtain mercy.
8 心の清い人たちは、さいわいである、彼らは神を見るであろう。
Blessed are the pure in heart, because they will see God.
9 平和をつくり出す人たちは、さいわいである、彼らは神の子と呼ばれるであろう。
Blessed are the peacemakers, because they will be called sons of God.
10 義のために迫害されてきた人たちは、さいわいである、天国は彼らのものである。
Blessed are those who have been persecuted because of righteousness, because the kingdom of the heavens is theirs.
11 わたしのために人々があなたがたをののしり、また迫害し、あなたがたに対し偽って様々の悪口を言う時には、あなたがたは、さいわいである。
Blessed are ye when they revile you, and persecute you, and say every evil word, being deceitful against you because of me.
12 喜び、よろこべ、天においてあなたがたの受ける報いは大きい。あなたがたより前の預言者たちも、同じように迫害されたのである。
Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, because your reward is great in the heavens, for so they persecuted the prophets before you.
13 あなたがたは、地の塩である。もし塩のききめがなくなったら、何によってその味が取りもどされようか。もはや、なんの役にも立たず、ただ外に捨てられて、人々にふみつけられるだけである。
Ye are the salt material of the earth. But if the salt material becomes ineffective, by what will it be salted? It is potent for nothing further, except to be cast outside and to be trodden down by men.
14 あなたがたは、世の光である。山の上にある町は隠れることができない。
Ye are the light of the world. A city setting on a hill cannot be hid,
15 また、あかりをつけて、それを枡の下におく者はいない。むしろ燭台の上において、家の中のすべてのものを照させるのである。
nor do they light a lamp, and put it under the bushel, but on the lampstand, and it shines to all in the house.
16 そのように、あなたがたの光を人々の前に輝かし、そして、人々があなたがたのよいおこないを見て、天にいますあなたがたの父をあがめるようにしなさい。
Thus your light should shine before men, so that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father in the heavens.
17 わたしが律法や預言者を廃するためにきた、と思ってはならない。廃するためではなく、成就するためにきたのである。
Think not that I came to abolish the law or the prophets. I came not to abolish, but to fulfill.
18 よく言っておく。天地が滅び行くまでは、律法の一点、一画もすたることはなく、ことごとく全うされるのである。
For truly I say to you, until the heaven and the earth pass away, one iota or one tittle will, no, not pass away from the law, until all things come to pass.
19 それだから、これらの最も小さいいましめの一つでも破り、またそうするように人に教えたりする者は、天国で最も小さい者と呼ばれるであろう。しかし、これをおこないまたそう教える者は、天国で大いなる者と呼ばれるであろう。
Whoever therefore may relax one of these least commandments, and may teach men so, he will be called least in the kingdom of the heavens. But whoever may do and may teach them, this man will be called great in the kingdom of the heavens.
20 わたしは言っておく。あなたがたの義が律法学者やパリサイ人の義にまさっていなければ、決して天国に、はいることはできない。
For I say to you, that unless your righteousness abounds more than of the scholars and Pharisees, ye will, no, not enter into the kingdom of the heavens.
21 昔の人々に『殺すな。殺す者は裁判を受けねばならない』と言われていたことは、あなたがたの聞いているところである。
Ye have heard that it was said to them in old times, Thou shall not murder, and whoever murders will be liable to the judgment.
22 しかし、わたしはあなたがたに言う。兄弟に対して怒る者は、だれでも裁判を受けねばならない。兄弟にむかって愚か者と言う者は、議会に引きわたされるであろう。また、ばか者と言う者は、地獄の火に投げ込まれるであろう。 (Geenna g1067)
But I say to you, that every man who is angry at his brother without cause will be liable to the judgment, and whoever speaks an insult to his brother will be liable to the council, and whoever says, Foolish man, will be liable to the hell of fire. (Geenna g1067)
23 だから、祭壇に供え物をささげようとする場合、兄弟が自分に対して何かうらみをいだいていることを、そこで思い出したなら、
If therefore thou should bring thy gift to the altar, and remember there that thy brother has anything against thee,
24 その供え物を祭壇の前に残しておき、まず行ってその兄弟と和解し、それから帰ってきて、供え物をささげることにしなさい。
leave there thy gift before the altar, and go. First be reconciled to thy brother, and then, after coming, bring thy gift.
25 あなたを訴える者と一緒に道を行く時には、その途中で早く仲直りをしなさい。そうしないと、その訴える者はあなたを裁判官にわたし、裁判官は下役にわたし、そして、あなたは獄に入れられるであろう。
Be agreeing with thine opponent quickly, while thou are with him on the way, lest the opponent deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the subordinate, and thou will be cast into prison.
26 よくあなたに言っておく。最後の一コドラントを支払ってしまうまでは、決してそこから出てくることはできない。
Truly I say to thee, thou will, no, not come out from there, until thou have paid the last quadran.
27 『姦淫するな』と言われていたことは、あなたがたの聞いているところである。
Ye have heard that it was said, Thou shall not commit adultery.
28 しかし、わたしはあなたがたに言う。だれでも、情欲をいだいて女を見る者は、心の中ですでに姦淫をしたのである。
But I say to you, that every man who looks on a woman to crave her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
And if thy right eye causes thee to stumble, remove it and cast it from thee, for it is advantageous for thee that one of thy body-parts should perish, and not thy whole body be cast into hell. (Geenna g1067)

31 また『妻を出す者は離縁状を渡せ』と言われている。
And it was said, Whoever may divorce his wife, let him give her a divorce certificate.
32 しかし、わたしはあなたがたに言う。だれでも、不品行以外の理由で自分の妻を出す者は、姦淫を行わせるのである。また出された女をめとる者も、姦淫を行うのである。
But I say to you, that whoever may divorce his wife apart from a matter of fornication, disposes her to commit adultery, and whoever may marry her who has been divorced commits adultery.
33 また昔の人々に『いつわり誓うな、誓ったことは、すべて主に対して果せ』と言われていたことは、あなたがたの聞いているところである。
Again, ye have heard that it was said to them in old times, Thou shall not swear falsely, but shall render to the Lord thine oaths.
34 しかし、わたしはあなたがたに言う。いっさい誓ってはならない。天をさして誓うな。そこは神の御座であるから。
But I say to you, not to swear at all, neither by heaven, because it is the throne of God,
35 また地をさして誓うな。そこは神の足台であるから。またエルサレムをさして誓うな。それは『大王の都』であるから。
nor by the earth, because it is the footstool of his feet, nor by Jerusalem, because it is the city of the great King.
36 また、自分の頭をさして誓うな。あなたは髪の毛一すじさえ、白くも黒くもすることができない。
Neither shall thou swear by thy head, because thou cannot make one hair white or black.
37 あなたがたの言葉は、ただ、しかり、しかり、否、否、であるべきだ。それ以上に出ることは、悪から来るのである。
But let your word be, Yes, yes, No, no. And anything beyond these is from evil.
38 『目には目を、歯には歯を』と言われていたことは、あなたがたの聞いているところである。
Ye have heard that it was said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.
39 しかし、わたしはあなたがたに言う。悪人に手向かうな。もし、だれかがあなたの右の頬を打つなら、ほかの頬をも向けてやりなさい。
But I say to you, not to resist what is troublesome, but whoever will strike thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40 あなたを訴えて、下着を取ろうとする者には、上着をも与えなさい。
And to the man who wants to sue thee, and take away thy coat, thou shall leave him thy cloak also.
41 もし、だれかが、あなたをしいて一マイル行かせようとするなら、その人と共に二マイル行きなさい。
And whoever will draft thee for one mile, go thou with him two.
42 求める者には与え、借りようとする者を断るな。
Give to him who asks thee, and turn thou not away from him who wants to borrow from thee.
43 『隣り人を愛し、敵を憎め』と言われていたことは、あなたがたの聞いているところである。
Ye have heard that it was said, Thou shall love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy.
44 しかし、わたしはあなたがたに言う。敵を愛し、迫害する者のために祈れ。
But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,
45 こうして、天にいますあなたがたの父の子となるためである。天の父は、悪い者の上にも良い者の上にも、太陽をのぼらせ、正しい者にも正しくない者にも、雨を降らして下さるからである。
so that ye may become sons of your Father in the heavens, because he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and makes rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
46 あなたがたが自分を愛する者を愛したからとて、なんの報いがあろうか。そのようなことは取税人でもするではないか。
For if ye love those who love you, what reward have ye? Do not even the tax collectors the same?
47 兄弟だけにあいさつをしたからとて、なんのすぐれた事をしているだろうか。そのようなことは異邦人でもしているではないか。
And if ye only greet your friends, what do ye extra? Do not even the tax collectors this way?
48 それだから、あなたがたの天の父が完全であられるように、あなたがたも完全な者となりなさい。
Ye therefore shall be perfect, even as your Father in the heavens is perfect.
