コロサイ人への手紙 1
1 神の御旨によるキリスト・イエスの使徒パウロと兄弟テモテから、
Paul, an Apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy, a brother,
2 コロサイにいる、キリストにある聖徒たち、忠実な兄弟たちへ。わたしたちの父なる神から、恵みと平安とが、あなたがたにあるように。
to the saints and faithful brothers in Christ Jesus who are at Colossae.
3 わたしたちは、いつもあなたがたのために祈り、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストの父なる神に感謝している。
Grace and peace to you, from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. We give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying for you always.
4 これは、キリスト・イエスに対するあなたがたの信仰と、すべての聖徒に対していだいているあなたがたの愛とを、耳にしたからである。
For we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love that you have toward all the saints,
5 この愛は、あなたがたのために天にたくわえられている望みに基くものであり、その望みについては、あなたがたはすでに、あなたがたのところまで伝えられた福音の真理の言葉によって聞いている。
because of the hope that has been stored up for you in heaven, which you have heard through the Word of Truth in the Gospel.
6 そして、この福音は、世界中いたる所でそうであるように、あなたがたのところでも、これを聞いて神の恵みを知ったとき以来、実を結んで成長しているのである。
This has reached you, just as it is present in the whole world, where it grows and bears fruit, as it has also done in you, since the day when you first heard and knew the grace of God in truth,
7 あなたがたはこの福音を、わたしたちと同じ僕である、愛するエペフラスから学んだのであった。彼はあなたがたのためのキリストの忠実な奉仕者であって、
just as you learned it from Epaphras, our most beloved fellow servant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ Jesus.
8 あなたがたが御霊によっていだいている愛を、わたしたちに知らせてくれたのである。
And he has also manifested to us your love in the Spirit.
9 そういうわけで、これらの事を耳にして以来、わたしたちも絶えずあなたがたのために祈り求めているのは、あなたがたがあらゆる霊的な知恵と理解力とをもって、神の御旨を深く知り、
Then, too, from the day when we first heard it, we have not ceased praying for you and requesting that you be filled with the knowledge of his will, with all wisdom and spiritual understanding,
10 主のみこころにかなった生活をして真に主を喜ばせ、あらゆる良いわざを行って実を結び、神を知る知識をいよいよ増し加えるに至ることである。
so that you may walk in a manner worthy of God, being pleasing in all things, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God,
11 更にまた祈るのは、あなたがたが、神の栄光の勢いにしたがって賜わるすべての力によって強くされ、何事も喜んで耐えかつ忍び、
being strengthened in every virtue, in accord with the power of his glory, with all patience and longsuffering, with joy,
12 光のうちにある聖徒たちの特権にあずかるに足る者とならせて下さった父なる神に、感謝することである。
giving thanks to God the Father, who has made us worthy to have a share in the portion of the saints, in the light.
13 神は、わたしたちをやみの力から救い出して、その愛する御子の支配下に移して下さった。
For he has rescued us from the power of darkness, and he has transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of his love,
14 わたしたちは、この御子によってあがない、すなわち、罪のゆるしを受けているのである。
in whom we have redemption through his blood, the remission of sins.
15 御子は、見えない神のかたちであって、すべての造られたものに先だって生れたかたである。
He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of every creature.
16 万物は、天にあるものも地にあるものも、見えるものも見えないものも、位も主権も、支配も権威も、みな御子にあって造られたからである。これらいっさいのものは、御子によって造られ、御子のために造られたのである。
For in him was created everything in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominations, or principalities, or powers. All things were created through him and in him.
17 彼は万物よりも先にあり、万物は彼にあって成り立っている。
And he is before all, and in him all things continue.
18 そして自らは、そのからだなる教会のかしらである。彼は初めの者であり、死人の中から最初に生れたかたである。それは、ご自身がすべてのことにおいて第一の者となるためである。
And he is the head of his body, the Church. He is the beginning, the first-born from the dead, so that in all things he may hold primacy.
19 神は、御旨によって、御子のうちにすべての満ちみちた徳を宿らせ、
For the Father is well-pleased that all fullness reside in him,
20 そして、その十字架の血によって平和をつくり、万物、すなわち、地にあるもの、天にあるものを、ことごとく、彼によってご自分と和解させて下さったのである。
and that, through him, all things be reconciled to himself, making peace through the blood of his cross, for the things that are on earth, as well as the things that are in heaven.
21 あなたがたも、かつては悪い行いをして神から離れ、心の中で神に敵対していた。
And you, though you had been, in times past, understood to be foreigners and enemies, with works of evil,
22 しかし今では、御子はその肉のからだにより、その死をとおして、あなたがたを神と和解させ、あなたがたを聖なる、傷のない、責められるところのない者として、みまえに立たせて下さったのである。
yet now he has reconciled you, by his body of flesh, through death, so as to offer you, holy and immaculate and blameless, before him.
23 ただし、あなたがたは、ゆるぐことがなく、しっかりと信仰にふみとどまり、すでに聞いている福音の望みから移り行くことのないようにすべきである。この福音は、天の下にあるすべての造られたものに対して宣べ伝えられたものであって、それにこのパウロが奉仕しているのである。
So then, continue in the faith: well-founded and steadfast and immovable, by the hope of the Gospel that you have heard, which has been preached throughout all creation under heaven, the Gospel of which I, Paul, have become a minister.
24 今わたしは、あなたがたのための苦難を喜んで受けており、キリストのからだなる教会のために、キリストの苦しみのなお足りないところを、わたしの肉体をもって補っている。
For now I rejoice in my passion on your behalf, and I complete in my flesh the things that are lacking in the Passion of Christ, for the sake of his body, which is the Church.
25 わたしは、神の言を告げひろめる務を、あなたがたのために神から与えられているが、そのために教会に奉仕する者になっているのである。
For I have become a minister of the Church, according to the dispensation of God that has been given to me among you, so that I may fulfill the Word of God,
the mystery which had remained hidden to past ages and generations, but which now is manifested to his saints. (aiōn g165)
27 神は彼らに、異邦人の受くべきこの奥義が、いかに栄光に富んだものであるかを、知らせようとされたのである。この奥義は、あなたがたのうちにいますキリストであり、栄光の望みである。
To them, God willed to make known the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ and the hope of his glory within you.
28 わたしたちはこのキリストを宣べ伝え、知恵をつくしてすべての人を訓戒し、また、すべての人を教えている。それは、彼らがキリストにあって全き者として立つようになるためである。
We are announcing him, correcting every man and teaching every man, with all wisdom, so that we may offer every man perfect in Christ Jesus.
29 わたしはこのために、わたしのうちに力強く働いておられるかたの力により、苦闘しながら努力しているのである。
In him, too, I labor, striving according to his action within me, which he works in virtue.
