テサロニケ人への手紙第一 1
1 パウロとシルワノとテモテから、父なる神と主イエス・キリストとにあるテサロニケ人たちの教会へ。恵みと平安とが、あなたがたにあるように。
Paul and Sylvanus and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians, in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
2 わたしたちは祈の時にあなたがたを覚え、あなたがた一同のことを、いつも神に感謝し、
Grace and peace to you. We give thanks to God always for all of you, keeping the memory of you in our prayers without ceasing,
3 あなたがたの信仰の働きと、愛の労苦と、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストに対する望みの忍耐とを、わたしたちの父なる神のみまえに、絶えず思い起している。
remembering your work of faith, and hardship, and charity, and enduring hope, in our Lord Jesus Christ, before God our Father.
4 神に愛されている兄弟たちよ。わたしたちは、あなたがたが神に選ばれていることを知っている。
For we know, brothers, beloved of God, of your election.
5 なぜなら、わたしたちの福音があなたがたに伝えられたとき、それは言葉だけによらず、力と聖霊と強い確信とによったからである。わたしたちが、あなたがたの間で、みんなのためにどんなことをしたか、あなたがたの知っているとおりである。
For our Gospel has not been among you in word alone, but also in virtue, and in the Holy Spirit, and with a great fullness, in the same manner as you know we have acted among you for your sake.
6 そしてあなたがたは、多くの患難の中で、聖霊による喜びをもって御言を受けいれ、わたしたちと主とにならう者となり、
And so, you became imitators of us and of the Lord, accepting the Word in the midst of great tribulation, but with the joy of the Holy Spirit.
7 こうして、マケドニヤとアカヤとにいる信者全体の模範になった。
So have you become a pattern for all who believe in Macedonia and in Achaia.
8 すなわち、主の言葉はあなたがたから出て、ただマケドニヤとアカヤとに響きわたっているばかりではなく、至るところで、神に対するあなたがたの信仰のことが言いひろめられたので、これについては何も述べる必要はないほどである。
For from you, the Word of the Lord was spread, not only in Macedonia and in Achaia, but also in every place. Your faith, which is toward God, has advanced so much so that we do not need to speak to you about anything.
9 わたしたちが、どんなにしてあなたがたの所にはいって行ったか、また、あなたがたが、どんなにして偶像を捨てて神に立ち帰り、生けるまことの神に仕えるようになり、
For others are reporting among us of the kind of acceptance we had among you, and how you were converted from idols to God, to the service of the living and true God,
10 そして、死人の中からよみがえった神の御子、すなわち、わたしたちをきたるべき怒りから救い出して下さるイエスが、天から下ってこられるのを待つようになったかを、彼ら自身が言いひろめているのである。
and to the expectation of his Son from heaven (whom he raised up from the dead), Jesus, who has rescued us from the approaching wrath.
