列王記Ⅰ 19
1 アハブ、イゼベルにエリヤの凡て爲たる事及び其如何に諸の預言者を刀劍にて殺したるかを告しかば
And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and likewise how he had slain all the prophets with the sword.
2 イゼベル使をエリヤに遣はして言けるは神等斯なし復重て斯なしたまへ我必ず明日の今時分汝の命を彼人々の一人の生命のごとくせんと
Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time.
3 かれ恐れて起ち其生命のために逃げ往てユダに屬するベエルシバに至り少者を其處に遺して
And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there.
4 自ら一日程ほど曠野に入り往て金雀花の下に坐し其身の死んことを求めていふヱホバよ足り今わが生命を取たまへ我はわが父祖よりも善にはあらざるなりと
But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.
5 彼金雀花の下に伏して寝りしが天の使彼に捫り興て食へと言ければ
And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.
6 彼見しに其頭の側に炭に燒きたるパンと一瓶の水ありき乃ち食ひ飮て復偃臥たり
And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baked on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.
7 ヱホバの使者復再び來りて彼に捫りていひけるは興て食へ其は途長くして汝勝べからざればなりと
And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for you.
8 彼興て食ひ且飮み其食の力に仗て四十日四十夜行て神の山ホレブに至る
And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.
9 彼處にて彼洞穴に入りて其處に宿りしが主の言彼に臨みて彼に言けるはエリヤよ汝此にて何を爲や
And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What do you here, Elijah?
10 彼いふ我は萬軍の神ヱホバのために甚だ熱心なり其はイスラエルの子孫汝の契約を棄て汝の壇を毀ち刀劍を以て汝の預言者を殺したればなり惟我一人存るに彼等我生命を取んことを求むと
And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and slain your prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
11 ヱホバ言たまひけるは出てヱホバの前に山の上に立てと茲にヱホバ過ゆきたまふにヱホバのまへに當りて大なる強き風山を裂き岩石を碎しが風の中にはヱホバ在さざりき風の後に地震ありしが地震の中にはヱホバ在さざりき
And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:
12 又地震の後に火ありしが火の中にはヱホバ在さざりき火の後に靜なる細微き聲ありき
And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
13 エリヤ聞て面を外套に蒙み出て洞穴の口に立ちけるに聲ありて彼に臨みエリヤよ汝此にて何をなすやといふ
And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What do you here, Elijah?
14 かれいふ我は萬軍の神ヱホバの爲に甚だ熱心なり其はイスラエルの子孫汝の契約を棄て汝の壇を毀ち刀劍を以て汝の預言者を殺したればなり惟我一人存れるに彼等我が生命を取んことを求むと
And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and slain your prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
15 ヱホバかれに言たまひけるは往て汝の途に返りダマスコの曠野に至り往てハザエルに膏を沃ぎてスリアの王となせ
And the LORD said unto him, Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when you come, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria:
16 又汝ニムシの子エヒウに膏を注ぎてイスラエルの王となすべし又アベルメホラのシヤパテの子エリシヤに膏をそそぎ爾に代りて預言者とならしむべし
And Jehu the son of Nimshi shall you anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shall you anoint to be prophet in your room.
17 ハザエルの刀劍を逃るる者をばエヒウ殺さんエヒウの刀劍を逃るる者をばエリシヤ殺さん
And it shall come to pass, that him that escapes the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapes from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay.
18 又我イスラエルの中に七千人を遺さん皆其膝をバアルに跼めず其口を之に接ざる者なりと
Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which has not kissed him.
19 エリヤ彼處よりゆきてシヤパテの子エリシヤに遭ふ彼は十二軛の牛を其前に行しめて己は其第十二の牛と偕にありて耕し居たりエリヤ彼の所にわたりゆきて外套を其上にかけたれば
So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.
20 牛を棄てエリヤの後に趨ゆきて言けるは請ふ我をしてわが父母に接吻せしめよしかるのち我爾にしたがはんとエリヤかれに言けるは行け還れ我爾に何をなしたるやと
And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray you, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you. And he said unto him, Go back again: for what have I done to you?
21 エリシヤ彼をはなれて還り一軛の牛をとりて之をころし牛の器具を焚て其肉を煮て民にあたへて食はしめ起て往きエリヤに從ひて之に事へたり
And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him.
