Isaia 9
1 Perciocchè colei che fu afflitta, non sarà [più] ravvolta in tenebre. Come al tempo di prima [Iddio] avvilì il paese di Zabulon, e il paese di Neftali, così, nel tempo posteriore, egli riempirà di gloria [il paese] dalla parte del mare, di là dal Giordano, la Galilea de' Gentili.
Yet the darkenesse shall not be according to the affliction that it had when at the first hee touched lightly the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, nor afteward when he was more grieuous by the way of the sea beyond Iorden in Galile of the Gentiles.
2 IL popolo che camminava nelle tenebre, ha veduta una gran luce; la luce è risplenduta a quelli che abitavano nella terra dell'ombra della morte.
The people that walked in darkenes haue seene a great light: they that dwelled in the land of the shadowe of death, vpon them hath the light shined.
3 Tu hai moltiplicata la nazione, tu gli hai accresciuta l'allegrezza; essi si son rallegrati nel tuo cospetto, come l'uomo si rallegra nella ricolta, come altri festeggia quando si spartiscono le spoglie.
Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased their ioye: they haue reioyced before thee according to the ioye in haruest, and as men reioyce when they deuide a spoyle.
4 Perciocchè tu hai spezzato il giogo del quale egli era caricato, e la verga con la quale gli erano battute le spalle, [e] il bastone di chi lo tiranneggiava, come al giorno di Madian.
For the yoke of their burthen, and the staffe of their shoulder and the rod of their oppressour hast thou broken as in the day of Midian.
5 Conciossiachè ogni saccheggiamento di saccheggiatori [sia] con istrepito e tumulto; e i vestimenti son voltolati nel sangue; poi sono arsi, e divengon pastura del fuoco.
Surely euery battell of the warriour is with noyse, and with tumbling of garments in blood: but this shall be with burning and deuouring of fire.
6 Perciocchè il Fanciullo ci è nato, il Figliuolo ci è stato dato; e l'imperio è stato [posto] sopra le sue spalle; e il suo Nome sarà chiamato: L'Ammirabile, il Consigliere, l'Iddio forte, il Padre dell'eternità, il Principe della pace.
For vnto vs a childe is borne, and vnto vs a Sonne is giuen: and the gouernement is vpon his shoulder, and he shall call his name Wonderfull, Counseller, The mightie God, The euerlasting Father, The prince of peace,
7 [Vi sarà] senza fine accrescimento d'imperio e di pace, sopra il trono di Davide, e sopra il suo regno; per istabilirlo, e per fermarlo in giudicio, e in giustizia, da ora fino in eterno. La gelosia del Signor degli eserciti farà questo.
The increase of his gouernement and peace shall haue none end: he shall sit vpon the throne of Dauid, and vpon his kingdome, to order it, and to stablish it with iudgement and with iustice, from hencefoorth, euen for euer: the zeale of the Lord of hostes will performe this.
8 IL Signore ha mandata una parola contro a Giacobbe, ed ella caderà sopra Israele.
The Lord hath sent a worde into Iaakob, and it hath lighted vpon Israel.
9 E tutto il popolo [la] saprà; Efraim, e gli abitanti di Samaria, i quali dicono con superbia, e con grandigia di cuore;
And all the people shall knowe, euen Ephraim, and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and presumption of the heart,
10 I mattoni son caduti, ma noi edificheremo di pietre pulite; i sicomori sono stati tagliati, ma noi [li] muteremo [in] cedri.
The brickes are fallen, but we will build it with hewen stones: the wilde figge trees are cut downe, but we will change them into ceders.
11 [Quando] adunque il Signore avrà innalzati i nemici di Resin sopra lui, farà anche muovere alla mescolata i nemici d'Israele:
Neuerthelesse the Lord will raise vp the aduersaries of Rezin against him, and ioyne his enemies together.
12 i Siri dall'Oriente, i Filistei dall'Occidente; ed essi divoreranno Israele a piena bocca. Per tutto ciò la sua ira non si racqueterà; anzi la sua mano [sarà] ancora stesa.
Aram before and the Philistims behinde, and they shall deuoure Israel with open mouth: yet for all this his wrath is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
13 E [perchè] il popolo non si sarà convertito a colui che lo percuote, e non avrà ricercato il Signor degli eserciti,
For the people turneth not vnto him that smiteth them, neither doe they seeke the Lord of hostes.
14 il Signore riciderà in un medesimo giorno da Israele il capo e la coda, il ramo ed il giunco.
Therefore will the Lord cut off from Israel head and taile, branche and rush in one day.
15 L'anziano e l'uomo d'autorità [sono] il capo; e il profeta che insegna menzogna [è] la cosda.
The ancient and the honorable man, he is the head: and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the taile.
16 E quelli che predicano beato questo popolo saranno seduttori, e quelli d'infra esso che si persuadono d'esser beati saranno distrutti.
For the leaders of the people cause them to erre: and they that are led by them are deuoured.
17 Perciò, il Signore non prenderà alcun diletto ne' giovani di esso, e non avrà pietà de' suoi orfani, nè delle sue vedove; perchè tutti [son] profani e maligni; ed ogni bocca parla cose vituperose. Per tutto ciò l'ira sua non si racqueterà; anzi la sua mano [sarà] ancora stesa.
Therefore shall the Lord haue no pleasure in their yong men, neither will he haue compassion of their fatherlesse and of their widowes: for euery one is an hypocrite and wicked, and euery mouth speaketh follie: yet for all this his wrath is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out stil.
18 Perciocchè l'empietà arderà come un fuoco, divorerà le vepri ed i pruni, e si accenderà negli alberi più folti del bosco, e quelli se ne andranno a viluppi, come si alza il fumo.
For wickednesse burneth as a fire: it deuoureth the briers and the thornes and will kindle in the thicke places of the forest: and they shall mount vp like the lifting vp of smoke.
19 Per l'indegnazione del Signor degli eserciti la terra scurerà, e il popolo sarà come l'esca del fuoco; l'uomo non risparmierà il suo fratello;
By the wrath of the Lord of hostes shall the land be darkened, and the people shall be as the meate of ye fire: no man shall spare his brother.
20 anzi strapperà a destra, e pure avrà fame; e divorerà a sinistra, e pur non sarà saziato; ciascuno mangerà la carne del suo braccio.
And he shall snatch at the right hand, and be hungrie: and he shall eate on the left hand, and shall not be satisfied: euery one shall eate ye flesh of his owne arme.
21 Manasse [divorerà] Efraim, ed Efraim Manasse; [benchè] sieno insieme contro a Giuda. Per tutto ciò l'ira sua non si racqueterà; anzi la sua mano [sarà] ancora stesa.
Manasseh, Ephraim: and Ephraim Manasseh, and they both shall be against Iudah yet for all this his wrath is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
