Isaia 65

1 IO sono stato ricercato da quelli che non domandavano [di me], io sono stato trovato da quelli che non mi cercavano; io ho detto alla gente che non si chiamava del mio Nome: Eccomi, eccomi.

I let myself be consulted by people who weren't even asking me questions; I let myself be found by people who weren't even looking for me. To a nation that wasn't even calling for me, I said, “I'm here, I'm here!”

2 Io ho stese tuttodì le mani ad un popolo ribello, il qual cammina per una via che non è buona, dietro a' suoi pensieri;

I spread out my hands all day long, pleading with a stubborn people who follow bad ways, doing whatever they choose.

3 [ad] un popolo, che del continuo mi dispetta in faccia, che sacrifica nei giardini, e fa profumi sopra i mattoni.

These people are always making me angry, because they present sacrifices to idols in their sacred gardens, and offer incense on pagan altars made of brick.

4 Il qual dimora fra i sepolcri, e passa le notti ne' luoghi appartati; che mangia carne di porco, e [ne]'cui vaselli [vi è] del brodo di cose abbominevoli.

They spend the night among the graves and in caves, eating pork and cooking other unclean meats.

5 Che dice: Fatti in là, non accostarti a me; perciocchè io son più santo di te. Tali [sono] un fumo al mio naso, un fuoco ardente tuttodì.

They tell others, “Keep your distance! Don't come close to me as I'm too holy to be touched by you!” These people are like smoke in my nostrils, a stink burning all day long!

6 Ecco, [tutto questo è] scritto nel mio cospetto; io non mi tacerò, ma [ne] farò la retribuzione; ne farò loro la retribuzione in seno.

Look—it's all written down right in front of me! I'm not going to keep quiet. I'm going to pay them back by throwing their punishment into their laps.

7 Le vostre iniquità, e l'iniquità de' vostri padri, che han fatti profumi sopra i monti, e mi hanno villaneggiato sopra i colli, [son] tutte insieme, ha detto il Signore; perciò, io misurerò loro in seno il pagamento di ciò che han fatto fin dal principio.

I'm going to pay you back for both your own sins and the sins of your forefathers, says the Lord, because they burned incense on the mountains and ridiculed me on the hills. I'm going to measure into their laps full payment for what they've done.

8 Così ha detto il Signore: Siccome, quando si trova del mosto ne' grappoli, si dice: Non guastar la [vigna], perciocchè [vi è] della benedizione; così farò io per amor de' miei servitori, per non guastare ogni cosa.

This is what the Lord says: It's like when there's a bit of juice left in a bunch of grapes and people say, “Don't get rid of it all; there's still some good in it,” I'll do the same for my servants—I won't destroy them all.

9 E farò uscire di Giacobbe una progenie, e di Giuda de' possessori de' miei monti; ed i miei eletti possederanno la terra, ed i miei servitori abiteranno in essa.

I will make sure Jacob has descendants, and people from Judah who can take ownership of my mountain. My chosen ones, my servants, will own the land and live there.

10 E Saron sarà per mandra del minuto bestiame, e la valle di Acor per mandra del grosso; per lo mio popolo che mi avrà cercato.

Sharon will become a pasture for flocks, and the Valley of Achor a place for herds to rest, for my people who follow me.

11 Ma quant'è a voi che abbandonate il Signore, che dimenticate il monte della mia santità, che apparecchiate la mensa al [pianeta] Gad, e fate a piena coppa offerte da spandere a Meni,

But those of you who desert the Lord and forget about my holy mountain, who prepare feasts for the god of good luck, who fill jugs of mixed wine for the god of destiny,

12 io vi darò a conto alla spada, e voi tutti sarete messi giù per essere scannati; perciocchè io ho chiamato, e voi non avete risposto; io ho parlato, e voi non avete ascoltato; anzi avete fatto ciò che mi dispiace, ed avete eletto ciò che non mi aggrada.

I will make sure your destiny is to be killed by the sword. All of you will bow down to be slaughtered, because I called out to you but you didn't answer; I spoke to you, but you didn't listen. Instead you did what's evil in my sight, choosing to do what I hate.

13 Perciò, così ha detto il Signore Iddio: Ecco, i miei servitori mangeranno, e voi sarete affamati; ecco, i miei servitori berranno, e vio sarete assetati; ecco, i miei servitori si rallegreranno, e voi sarete confusi;

So this is what the Lord says, My servants will eat, but you will go hungry. My servants will drink, but you will go thirsty. My servants will celebrate, but you will feel ashamed.

14 ecco, i miei servitori giubileranno di letizia di cuore, e voi striderete di cordoglio, ed urlerete di rottura di spirito.

Listen! My servants will shout because they're so happy inside, but you will cry out in deepest pain, howling because your spirit is broken.

15 E lascerete il vostro nome a' miei eletti, per [servir d]'esecrazione; e il Signore Iddio ti ucciderà; ma egli nominerà i suoi servitori d'un altro nome.

Your name will only be used as a curse by my chosen ones, for the Lord God will kill you and give his servants another name.

16 Colui che si benedirà nella terra si benedirà nell'Iddio di verità; e colui che giurerà nella terra giurerà per l'Iddio di perità; perciocchè le afflizioni di prima saranno dimenticate, e saranno nascoste dagli occhi miei.

Whoever asks a blessing or takes an oath in the land will do so by the one true God, for I have forgotten the troubles of the past—I don't look on them anymore.

17 Perciocchè, ecco, io creo nuovi cieli, e nuova terra; e le cose di prima non saranno [più] rammemorate, e non verranno [più] alla mente.

Look! I'm going to create new heavens and a new earth. The former things won't be remembered—they won't cross anyone's mind!

18 Anzi rallegratevi, e festeggiate in perpetuo, per le cose che io son per creare; perciocchè, ecco, io creerò Gerusalemme [per esser tutta] gioia, ed il suo popolo [per esser tutto] letizia.

Be glad, and be happy forever and ever in what I'm going to create, for I will make Jerusalem a delightful place, and its people a real joy.

19 Ed io festeggerò di Gerusalemme, e mi rallegrerò del mio popolo; ed in quella non si udirà più voce di pianto, nè voce di strido.

I will be so happy over Jerusalem; I will celebrate among my people. The sound of weeping and cries for help won't ever be heard there again.

20 Non vi sarà più da indi innanzi bambino di [pochi] giorni nè vecchio, che non compia la sua età; perciocchè [chi] morrà d'età di cent'anni [sarà ancora] fanciullo, e il malfattore d'età di cent'anni sarà maledetto.

No babies will die after just a few days, and no adults will die without having lived a long life. Those who reach a hundred will be thought of as just a child, and anyone who doesn't reach a hundred will be seen as being under a curse.

21 Ed edificheranno delle case, e [vi] abiteranno; e pianteranno delle vigne, e ne mangeranno il frutto.

They will build houses and live in them; they will eat the fruit of the vineyards they themselves planted.

22 Ei non avverrà [più] ch'essi edifichino [delle case], e che altri [vi] abiti [dentro]; ch'essi piantino, e che altri mangi [il frutto]; perciocchè i giorni del mio popolo [saranno] come i giorni degli alberi, e i miei eletti faranno invecchiar l'opera delle lor mani.

No longer will they build houses for others to live in; no longer will they plant for others to eat. For my people will live as long as trees do; my chosen ones will live long enough to enjoy all they've worked for.

23 Non si affaticheranno [più] in vano, e non genereranno [più] a turbamento; perciocchè [saranno] la progenie de' benedetti del Signore, ed [avran] seco quelli che saranno usciti di loro.

They won't work for nothing, and they won't have children destined for disaster. For they are people living under the blessing of the Lord, and their children will be too.

24 Ed avverrà che, avanti che abbian gridato, io risponderò; mentre parleranno ancora, io [li] avrò esauditi.

I will reply even before they ask me. While they are still speaking, I will answer them!

25 Il lupo e l'agnello pastureranno insieme; e il leone mangerà lo strame come il bue; e il cibo della serpe [sarà] la polvere; [queste bestie], in tutto il monte della mia santità, non faranno danno, nè guasto; ha detto il Signore.

The wolf and the lamb will eat together. The lion will eat straw like the ox. The snakes will eat dust. Nothing will cause any harm or damage anywhere on my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord in the same way that water fills the sea.
