Isaia 57

1 Il giusto muore, e non [vi è] alcuno che [vi] ponga mente; e gli uomini da bene son raccolti, senza che alcuno consideri che il giusto è raccolto d'innanzi al male.

The righteous perisheth, and no man considereth it in heart: and mercifull men are taken away, and no man vnderstandeth that the righteous is taken away from the euill to come.

2 Chi cammina nella sua dirittura se ne andrà in pace, si riposeranno sopra i lor letti.

Peace shall come: they shall rest in their beds, euery one that walketh before him.

3 Ma voi, figliuoli dell'incantatrice, progenie adultera, [che] non fai altro che fornicare, accostatevi qua.

But you witches children, come hither, the seede of the adulterer and of the whore.

4 Sopra cui vi sollazzate voi? sopra cui allargate la bocca, [ed] allungate la lingua? non siete voi figliuoli di misfatto, progenie di falsità?

On whome haue ye iested? vpon whome haue ye gaped and thrust out your tongue? are not ye rebellious children, and a false seede?

5 [Voi], che vi riscaldate dietro alle querce, sott'ogni albero verdeggiante, che scannate i figliuoli nelle valli, sotto alle caverne delle rocce.

Inflamed with idoles vnder euery greene tree? and sacrificing the children in the valleys vnder the tops of the rocks?

6 La tua parte [è] nelle [pietre] pulite de' torrenti; quelle, quelle [son] la tua sorte; a quelle eziandio hai sparse offerte da spandere, e presentate oblazioni; con tutte queste cose potrei io esser rappacificato?

Thy portion is in the smooth stones of the riuer: they, they are thy lot: euen to them hast thou powred a drinke offering: thou hast offered a sacrifice. Should I delite in these?

7 Tu hai posto il tuo letto sopra i monti alti ed elevati; e sei eziandio salita là, per sacrificar sacrificii.

Thou hast made thy bed vpon a very hie mountaine: thou wentest vp thither, euen thither wentest thou to offer sacrifice.

8 Ed hai messa la tua ricordanza dietro all'uscio, e dietro allo stipite; conciossiachè tu ti sii scoperta, [sviandoti] da me; e sii salita, [ed] abbi allargato il tuo letto, ed abbi fatto patto con [alcuni] di coloro; tu hai amata la lor giacitura, tu hai spiato il luogo.

Behinde the doores also and postes hast thou set vp thy remembrance: for thou hast discouered thy selfe to another then me, and wentest vp, and diddest enlarge thy bed, and make a couenant betweene thee and them, and louedst their bed in euery place where thou sawest it.

9 Ed hai portati al Re presenti d'olii odoriferi, con gran quantità delle tue composizioni aromatiche; ed hai mandati i tuoi ambasciatori fino in paese lontano, e ti sei abbassata fino all'inferno. (Sheol h7585)

Thou wentest to the Kings with oyle, and diddest increase thine oyntments and sende thy messengers farre off, and diddest humble thy selfe vnto hell. (Sheol h7585)

10 Tu ti sei affaticata nella lunghezza del tuo cammino; tu non hai detto: [La cosa è] disperata; tu hai ritrovata la vita della tua mano, perciò tu non ti sei stancata.

Thou weariedst thy selfe in thy manifolde iourneys, yet saydest thou not, There is no hope: thou hast found life by thine hand, therefore thou wast not grieued.

11 E di cui hai tu avuta paura? chi hai tu temuto? conciossiachè tu abbi mentito, e non ti sii ricordata di me, [e] non te ne sii curata? non mi sono io taciuto, anzi già da lungo tempo? e pur tu non mi hai temuto.

And whome diddest thou reuerence or feare, seeing thou hast lyed vnto me, and hast not remembred me, neither set thy minde thereon? is it not because I holde my peace, and that of long time? therefore thou fearest not me.

12 Io dichiarerò la tua giustizia, e le tue opere, che non ti gioveranno nulla.

I will declare thy righteousnes and thy workes, and they shall not profite thee.

13 Quando tu griderai, liberinti quelli che tu aduni; ma il vento li porterà via tutti quanti, un soffio [li] torrà via; ma chi spera in me possederà la terra, ed erederà il monte della mia santità.

When thou cryest, let them that thou hast gathered together deliuer thee: but the winde shall take them all away: vanitie shall pull them away: but he that trusteth in me, shall inherite the lande, and shall possesse mine holy Mountaine.

14 Ed ei si dirà: Rilevate, rilevate le strade, acconciatele; togliete via gl'intoppi dal cammino del mio popolo.

And he shall say, Cast vp, cast vp: prepare the way: take vp the stumbling blocks out of the way of my people.

15 Perciocchè, così ha detto l'Alto, e l'Eccelso, che abita l'eternità, e il cui Nome [è] il Santo: Io abito in [luogo] alto, e santo, e col contrito, ed umile di spirito; per vivificar lo spirito degli umili, e per vivificare il cuor de' contriti.

For thus sayth he that is hie and excellent, he that inhabiteth the eternitie, whose Name is the Holy one, I dwell in the high and holy place: with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirite to reuiue the spirite of the humble, and to giue life to them that are of a contrite heart.

16 Conciossiachè io non centenda in perpetuo, e non mi adiri in eterno; perciocchè [altrimenti ogni] spirito, e le anime [che] io ho fatte, verrebber meno per la mia presenza.

For I will not contende for euer, neither will I be alwayes wroth, for the spirite should fayle before me: and I haue made the breath.

17 Io sono stato adirato per l'iniquità della sua cupidigia, e l'ho percosso; io [mi] son nascosto, e sono stato indegnato; ma pur [quel] ribello è andato per la via del suo cuore.

For his wicked couetousnesse I am angry with him, and haue smitten him: I hid mee and was angry, yet he went away, and turned after the way of his owne heart.

18 Io ho vedute le sue vie, e pur lo guarirò, e lo ricondurrò, e restituirò consolazioni a lui, ed a quelli d'infra lui che fanno cordoglio.

I haue seene his wayes, and wil heale him: I wil leade him also, and restore comfort vnto him, and to those that lament him.

19 Io creo ciò ch'è proferito con le labbra; pace, pace al lontano, ed al vincino, dice il Signore; ed io lo guarirò.

I create the fruite of the lips, to be peace: peace vnto them that are farre off, and to them that are neere, sayth the Lord: for I will heale him.

20 Ma gli empi [sono] come il mare sospinto, il quale non può quietare, e le cui acque cacciano fuori pantano e fango.

But the wicked are like the raging sea, that can not rest, whose waters cast vp myre and dirt.

21 Non [vi è] niuna pace per gli empi; ha detto l'Iddio mio.

There is no peace, sayth my God, to the wicked.
