Esodo 14
1 E il Signore parlò a Mosè, dicendo:
Then the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,
2 Di' a' figliuoli d'Israele, che si rivolgano, e si accampino dinanzi alla foce d'Hirot, fra Migdol e il mare, dirincontro a Baal-sefon; ponete campo presso al mare, dirimpetto a quel [luogo].
Speake to the children of Israel, that they returne and campe before Pi-hahiroth, betweene Migdol and the Sea, ouer against Baal-zephon: about it shall ye campe by the Sea.
3 E Faraone dirà de' figliuoli d'Israele: Sono intrigati nel paese; il deserto ha lor serrato [il passo].
For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are tangled in the land: the wildernesse hath shut them in.
4 Ed io indurerò il cuor di Faraone, talchè egli li perseguiterà, ed io sarò glorificato in Faraone e in tutto il suo esercito; e gli Egizj conosceranno ch'io [sono] il Signore. Ed essi fecero così.
And I will harden Pharaohs heart that hee shall follow after you: so I will get mee honour vpon Pharaoh, and vpon all his hoste: the Egyptians also shall knowe that I am the Lord: and they did so.
5 Or fu rapportato al re di Egitto, che il popolo se ne fuggiva; e il cuore di Faraone e de' suoi servitori si mutò inverso il popolo, e dissero: Che cosa [è] questo [che] noi abbiam fatto, di aver lasciato andar gl'Israeliti, per non servirci [più]?
Then it was told the King of Egypt, that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his seruants was turned against the people, and they sayde, Why haue we this done, and haue let Israel go out of our seruice?
6 E [Faraone] fece mettere i cavalli al suo carro, e prese la sua gente seco.
And he made ready his charets, and tooke his people with him,
7 E prese seicento carri scelti, e tutti i carri dell'Egitto, sopra tutti i quali [vi erano] de' capitani.
And tooke sixe hundreth chosen charets, and all the charets of Egypt, and captaines ouer euery one of them.
8 E il Signore indurò il cuor di Faraone, re di Egitto; ed egli perseguì i figliuoli di Israele, i quali se ne uscivano a mano alzata.
(For the Lord had hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he followed after the children of Israel: but the children of Israel went out with an hie hand)
9 Gli Egizj adunque li perseguirono; e tutti i cavalli, e i carri di Faraone, e i suoi cavalieri, e il suo esercito, li raggiunsero, mentre erano accampati presso al mare, in su la foce d'Hirot, dirimpetto a Baal-sefon.
And the Egyptians pursued after them, and all the horses and charets of Pharaoh, and his horsemen and his hoste ouertooke them camping by the Sea, beside Pi-hahiroth, before Baal-zephon.
10 E [quando] Faraone fu vicino, i figliuoli d'Israele alzarono gli occhi; ed ecco, gli Egizj venivano dietro a loro; onde temettero grandemente, e gridarono al Signore.
And when Pharaoh drew nie, the children of Israel lift vp their eyes, and beholde, the Egyptians marched after them, and they were sore afrayde: wherefore the children of Israel cried vnto the Lord.
11 E dissero a Mosè: Ci hai tu menati a morire nel deserto, perchè mancassero sepolture in Egitto? che cosa è questo [che] tu ci hai fatto, di averci fatti uscir di Egitto?
And they sayde vnto Moses, Hast thou brought vs to die in the wildernes, because there were no graues in Egypt? wherefore hast thou serued vs thus, to carie vs out of Egypt?
12 Non [è] egli ciò che noi ti dicevamo in Egitto, dicendo: Lasciaci stare, che serviamo agli Egizj? perciocchè meglio [era] per noi di servire agli Egizj, che di morir nel deserto.
Did not wee tell thee this thing in Egypt, saying, Let vs be in rest, that we may serue the Egyptians? for it had bene better for vs to serue the Egyptians, then that wee shoulde dye in the wildernesse.
13 E Mosè disse al popolo: Non temete; fermatevi, e state a vedere la liberazione del Signore, la quale oggi egli vi farà; perciocchè voi non vedrete mai più in eterno quegli Egizj che avete oggi veduti.
Then Moses sayde to the people, Feare ye not, stand still, and beholde the saluation of the Lord which he will shew to you this day. For the Egyptians, whome ye haue seene this day, ye shall neuer see them againe.
14 Il Signore combatterà per voi, e voi ve ne starete queti.
The Lord shall fight for you: therefore hold you your peace.
15 E il Signore disse a Mosè: Perchè gridi a me? di' a' figliuoli d'Israele che camminino.
And the Lord sayd vnto Moses, Wherefore cryest thou vnto me? speake vnto the children of Israel that they go forward:
16 E tu, alza la tua bacchetta, e stendi la tua mano sopra il mare, e fendilo; ed entrino i figliuoli di Israele dentro al mare per l'asciutto.
And lift thou vp thy rod, and stretche out thine hand vpon the Sea and deuide it, and let the children of Israel goe on drie ground thorow the middes of the Sea.
17 E quant'è a me, ecco, io induro il cuor degli Egizj, ed essi entreranno dietro a loro; ed io sarò glorificato in Faraone, e in tutto il suo esercito, e ne' suoi carri, e nella sua cavalleria.
And I, beholde, I will harden the heart of the Egyptians, that they may follow them, and I wil get me honour vpon Pharaoh, and vpon all his host, vpon his charets, and vpon his horsemen.
18 E gli Egizj sapranno che io [sono] il Signore, quando io mi sarò glorificato in Faraone, e ne' suoi carri, e nella sua cavalleria.
Then the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I haue gotten me honour vpon Pharaoh, vpon his charets, and vpon his horsemen.
19 Allora l'Angelo di Dio che andava davanti al campo degl'Israeliti, si partì, e andò dietro a loro; parimente la colonna della nuvola si partì d'innanzi a loro, e si fermò dietro a loro.
(And the Angel of God, which went before the hoste of Israel, remoued and went behinde them: also the pillar of the cloude went from before them, and stoode behinde them,
20 E venne fra il campo degli Egizj e il campo degl'Israeliti; e [agli uni] era nuvola e oscurità; e [agli altri] illuminava la notte; e l'un [campo] non si appressò all'altro in tutta quella notte.
And came betweene the campe of the Egyptians and the campe of Israel: it was both a cloude and darkenes, yet gaue it light by night, so that all the night long the one came not at the other)
21 E Mosè stese la sua mano sopra il mare; e il Signore fece con un potente vento orientale ritrarre il mare tutta quella notte; e ridusse il mare in asciutto, e l'acque furono spartite.
And Moses stretched forth his hande vpon the Sea, and the Lord caused the sea to runne backe by a strong East winde all the night, and made the Sea dry land: for the waters were deuided.
22 E i figliuoli d'Israele entrarono in mezzo al mare per l'asciutto; e l'acque [erano] loro [a guisa di] muro, a destra e a sinistra.
Then the children of Israel went through the middes of the Sea vpon the drie ground, and the waters were a wall vnto them on their right hand, and on their left hand.
23 E gli Egizj [li] perseguirono; e tutti i cavalli di Faraone, e i suoi carri, e i suoi cavalieri, entrarono dietro a loro in mezzo al mare.
And the Egyptians pursued and went after them to the middes of the Sea, euen all Pharaohs horses, his charets, and his horsemen.
24 E avvenne, alla vigilia della mattina, che il Signore, dalla colonna del fuoco e della nuvola, riguardò verso il campo degli Egizj, e lo mise in rotta.
Nowe in the morning watche, when the Lord looked vnto the hoste of the Egyptians, out of the firie and cloudie pillar, he strooke the host of the Egyptians with feare.
25 E, levate le ruote de' lor carri, li conduceva pesantemente. E gli Egizj dissero: Fuggiamo d'innanzi agl'Israeliti; perciocchè il Signore combatte per loro contr'agli Egizj.
For he tooke off their charet wheeles, and they draue them with much a doe: so that the Egyptians euery one sayd, I wil flee from the face of Israel: for the Lord fighteth for them against the Egyptians.
26 Allora il Signore disse a Mosè: Stendi la tua mano in sul mare, e l'acque ritorneranno sopra gli Egizj, e sopra i lor carri, e sopra i lor cavalieri.
Then the Lord sayde to Moses, Stretche thine hand vpon the Sea, that the waters may returne vpon the Egyptians, vpon their charets and vpon their horsemen.
27 Mosè adunque stese la sua mano in sul mare; e, in sul far della mattina, il mare ritornò al suo corso violento; e gli Egizj gli fuggivano incontro; ma il Signore li traboccò in mezzo al mare.
Then Moses stretched forth his hand vpon the Sea, and the Sea returned to his force early in the morning, and the Egyptians fled against it: but the Lord ouerthrew the Egyptians in the mids of the Sea.
28 E l'acque ritornarono, e coprirono i carri e i cavalieri di tutto l'esercito di Faraone, i quali erano entrati dentro al mare dietro agl'Israeliti; e' non iscampò di loro neppur uno.
So the water returned and couered the charets and the horsemen, euen all the hoste of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them: there remained not one of them.
29 Ma i figliuoli d'Israele camminarono per l'asciutto in mezzo al mare, e l'acque [erano] loro [a guisa di] muro a destra e a sinistra.
But the children of Israel walked vpon dry land thorowe the middes of the Sea, and the waters were a wall vnto them on their right hande, and on their left.
30 Così in quel giorno il Signore salvò gl'Israeliti dalle mani degli Egizj; e gli Israeliti videro gli Egizj morti in sul lito del mare.
Thus the Lord saued Israel the same day out of the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel sawe the Egyptians dead vpon the Sea banke.
31 E Israele vide la gran mano che il Signore avea adoperata contro agli Egizj, e temette il Signore, e credette al Signore e a Mosè suo servitore.
And Israel saw the mightie power, which the Lord shewed vpon the Egyptians: so the people feared the Lord, and beleeued the Lord, and his seruant Moses.
