2 Corinzi 4
1 Perciò, investiti di questo ministero per la misericordia che ci è stata usata, non ci perdiamo d'animo;
So then, as I have this ministry because of God’s mercy to me, I do not lose heart.
2 al contrario, rifiutando le dissimulazioni vergognose, senza comportarci con astuzia né falsificando la parola di Dio, ma annunziando apertamente la verità, ci presentiamo davanti a ogni coscienza, al cospetto di Dio.
I have renounced the hidden things of shame, not spending my life in craftiness, nor adulterating the word of God; but setting forth the truth openly, I strive to commend myself to every man’s conscience as in the sight of God.
3 E se il nostro vangelo rimane velato, lo è per coloro che si perdono,
But even if my gospel, too, is "veiled," it is among those who are on the way to perish that it is "veiled."
4 ai quali il dio di questo mondo ha accecato la mente incredula, perché non vedano lo splendore del glorioso vangelo di Cristo che è immagine di Dio. (aiōn g165)
Among them the god of this age has blinded the understanding of the unbelieving so that the sunshine of the gospel of God, should not dawn upon them. (aiōn g165)
5 Noi infatti non predichiamo noi stessi, ma Cristo Gesù Signore; quanto a noi, siamo i vostri servitori per amore di Gesù.
It is not myself that I proclaim, but Christ Jesus as Master, and myself that I proclaim, and myself your slave for Jesus’ sake.
6 E Dio che disse: Rifulga la luce dalle tenebre, rifulse nei nostri cuori, per far risplendere la conoscenza della gloria divina che rifulge sul volto di Cristo.
For God who said, "Out of darkness light shall shine," is he who has shone in my heart, that the sunrise of the knowledge of God may shine forth in the face of Christ.
7 Però noi abbiamo questo tesoro in vasi di creta, perché appaia che questa potenza straordinaria viene da Dio e non da noi.
But I hold this treasure in an earthen vessel, in order that the surpassing greatness of the power may be from God, and not from myself.
8 Siamo infatti tribolati da ogni parte, ma non schiacciati; siamo sconvolti, ma non disperati;
On every side I am hard pressed, yet not hemmed in; perplexed, but not in despair;
9 perseguitati, ma non abbandonati; colpiti, ma non uccisi,
persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.
10 portando sempre e dovunque nel nostro corpo la morte di Gesù, perché anche la vita di Gesù si manifesti nel nostro corpo.
Wherever I go, I am always carrying about in my body the dying of Jesus, in order that the life also of Jesus may be made manifest in this body of mine.
11 Sempre infatti, noi che siamo vivi, veniamo esposti alla morte a causa di Gesù, perché anche la vita di Gesù sia manifesta nella nostra carne mortale.
For, alive though I am, I am always given over to death for the sake of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may shine forth in my dying flesh.
12 Di modo che in noi opera la morte, ma in voi la vita.
So while death is working in me, life is working in you.
13 Animati tuttavia da quello stesso spirito di fede di cui sta scritto: Ho creduto, perciò ho parlato, anche noi crediamo e perciò parliamo,
But having the same spirit of faith of which it is written, I believed, and therefore have spoken, I also believe and so I speak.
14 convinti che colui che ha risuscitato il Signore Gesù, risusciterà anche noi con Gesù e ci porrà accanto a lui insieme con voi.
For I know that He who raised from the dead the Lord Jesus, will raise me also with Jesus, and set me at your side in his presence.
15 Tutto infatti è per voi, perché la grazia, ancora più abbondante ad opera di un maggior numero, moltiplichi l'inno di lode alla gloria di Dio.
For everything is for your sakes, so that more abundant grace, because of the thanksgiving of many voices, might overflow to the glory of God.
16 Per questo non ci scoraggiamo, ma se anche il nostro uomo esteriore si va disfacendo, quello interiore si rinnova di giorno in giorno.
For this reason, as I have said, I do not lose courage, but even though my outward man is wasting away, my inward man is being renewed, day by day.
17 Infatti il momentaneo, leggero peso della nostra tribolazione, ci procura una quantità smisurata ed eterna di gloria, (aiōnios g166)
For my light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working out for me a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, (aiōnios g166)
18 perché noi non fissiamo lo sguardo sulle cose visibili, ma su quelle invisibili. Le cose visibili sono d'un momento, quelle invisibili sono eterne. (aiōnios g166)
while I am gazing not at things seen, but at things unseen; for things seen are temporal, but things unseen are eternal. (aiōnios g166)
