Johannes 18
1 Solches redete Jesus, und ging mit seinen Jüngern hinaus jenseits des Baches Kidron; daselbst war ein Garten, in dem ging er hinein, und seine Jünger.
When Iesus had spoken these things, hee went foorth with his disciples ouer the brooke Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entred, and his disciples.
2 Es kannte aber auch Judas, der ihn verriet, den Ort, denn Jesus versammelte sich oft daselbst mit seinen Jüngern.
And Iudas which betraied him, knewe also the place: for Iesus oft times resorted thither with his disciples.
3 Judas nun nahm die Schar und von den hohen Priestern und Pharisäern Gerichtsdiener, und kommt dorthin mit Fackeln, und Lampen und Waffen.
Iudas then, after hee had receiued a band of men and officers of the high Priests, and of the Pharises, came thither with lanternes and torches, and weapons.
4 Jesus aber, der alles wußte, was über ihn kommen würde, ging hinaus und sprach zu ihnen: Wen suchet ihr?
Then Iesus, knowing all things that shoulde come vnto him, went foorth and said vnto them, Whom seeke yee?
5 Sie antworteten ihm: Jesus, den Nazaräer. Sagt ihnen Jesus: Ich bin es. Es stund aber auch Judas, der ihn verriet, bei ihnen.
They answered him, Iesus of Nazareth. Iesus sayde vnto them, I am hee. Nowe Iudas also which betraied him, stoode with them.
6 Als er nun zu ihnen sagte: Ich bin es, da wichen sie zurück, und fielen zu Boden.
Assoone then as hee had saide vnto them, I am hee, they went away backewardes, and fell to the grounde.
7 Da frug er sie abermals: Wen suchet ihr? Sie aber sprachen: Jesus, den Nazaräer.
Then he asked them againe, Whome seeke yee? And they sayd, Iesus of Nazareth.
8 Jesus antwortete ihnen: Ich habe es euch gesagt, daß ich es bin; wenn ihr nun mich suchet, so lasset diese gehen.
Iesus answered, I said vnto you, that I am he: therefore if ye seeke me, let these go their way.
9 Damit erfüllt würde das Wort, welches er sagte: Ich habe keinen verloren von denen, die du mir gegeben hast.
This was that the worde might be fulfilled which hee spake, Of them which thou gauest me, haue I lost none.
10 Simon Petrus nun hatte ein Schwert, zog es, und schlug den Knecht des Hohenpriesters, und hieb ihm sein rechtes Ohr ab; der Name des Knechtes aber war Malchus.
Then Simon Peter hauing a sword, drewe it, and smote the hie Priests seruant, and cut off his right eare. Nowe the seruants name was Malchus.
11 Da sprach Jesus zu Petrus: Stecke dein Schwert in die Scheide. soll ich den Kelch nicht trinken, den mir der Vater gegeben hat?
Then sayde Iesus vnto Peter, Put vp thy sworde into the sheath: shall I not drinke of the cuppe which my Father hath giuen me?
12 Die Schar nun, und der Hauptmann, und die Gerichtsdiener der Juden ergriffen Jesus, und banden ihn;
Then the bande and the captaine, and the officers of the Iewes tooke Iesus, and bound him,
13 Und führten ihn ab, zuerst zu Hannas; denn er war der Schwiegervater des Kaiphas, welcher jenes Jahr Hoherpriester war.
And led him away to Annas first (for he was father in lawe to Caiaphas, which was the hie Priest that same yeere)
14 Es war aber Kaiaphas, der den Juden riet, daß es besser wäre, ein Mensch komme um für das ganze Volk.
And Caiaphas was he, that gaue counsel to the Iewes, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.
15 Simon Petrus aber folgte Jesus nach, und ein anderer Jünger. Jener Jünger aber war dem Hohenpriester bekannt, und er ging mit Jesus hinein in den Hof des Hohenpriesters.
Nowe Simon Peter folowed Iesus, and another disciple, and that disciple was knowen of the hie Priest: therefore he went in with Iesus into the hall of the hie Priest:
16 Petrus aber stund draußen vor der Tür. Da ging der andere Jünger, der dem Hohenpriester bekannt war, hinaus, und redete mit der Türhüterin, und führte Petrus hinein.
But Peter stood at the doore without. Then went out the other disciple which was knowen vnto the hie Priest, and spake to her that kept the doore, and brought in Peter.
17 Da sagt die Magd, die Türhüterin: Bist nicht auch du von den Jüngern dieses Menschen? Er sagt: Ich bin´s nicht.
Then saide the maide that kept the doore, vnto Peter, Art not thou also one of this mans disciples? He sayd, I am not.
18 Es stunden aber die Knechte und Gerichtsdiener, welche ein Kohlenfeuer gemacht hatten, und wärmten sich, denn es war kalt. Petrus aber stund bei ihnen, und wärmte sich.
And the seruants and officers stoode there, which had made a fire of coles: for it was colde, and they warmed themselues. And Peter also stood among them, and warmed himselfe.
19 Der Hohepriester nun frug Jesus wegen seiner Jünger, und seiner Lehre.
(The hie Priest then asked Iesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine.
20 Jesus antwortete ihm: Ich habe öffentlich geredet zur Welt. Ich habe allezeit gelehrt in einer Synagoge, oder in dem Tempel, wo alle Juden zusammenkommen, und im Versteckten habe ich nichts geredet.
Iesus answered him, I spake openly to the world: I euer taught in the Synagogue and in the Temple, whither the Iewes resort continually, and in secret haue I sayde nothing.
21 Warum fragst du mich? Frage die Zuhörer, was ich zu ihnen geredet habe; siehe, die wissen, was ich gesät habe.
Why askest thou mee? aske them which heard mee what I sayde vnto them: beholde, they knowe what I sayd.
22 Als er aber solches sagte, gab einer von den Gerichtsdienern, die dabeistunden, Jesus einen Backenstreich, und sagte: So antwortest du dem Hohenpriester?
When he had spoken these thinges, one of the officers which stoode by, smote Iesus with his rod, saying, Answerest thou the hie Priest so?
23 Jesus antwortete ihm: Habe ich unrecht geredet, so beweise das Unrecht; habe ich aber recht geredet, warum schlägst du mich?
Iesus answered him, If I haue euill spoken, beare witnes of the euil: but if I haue well spoken, why smitest thou me?
24 Da sandte ihn Hannas gebunden zum Hohenpriester Kaiaphas.
Nowe Annas had sent him bound vnto Caiaphas the hie Priest)
25 Simon Petrus aber stund draußen, und wärmte sich. Da sprachen sie zu ihm: Bist nicht auch du von seinen Jüngern? Er leugnete, und sprach: Ich bin es nicht.
And Simon Peter stoode and warmed himselfe, and they said vnto him, Art not thou also of his disciples? He denied it, and said, I am not.
26 Sagt einer von den Knechten des Hohenpriesters, der ein Verwandter war dess´, dem Petrus das Ohr abgehauen hatte: Habe ich dich nicht im Garten bei ihm gesehen?
One of the seruaunts of the hie Priest, his cousin whose eare Peter smote off, saide, Did not I see thee in the garden with him?
27 Da leugnete Petrus abermals, und alsblad krähte der Hahn.
Peter then denied againe, and immediatly the cocke crewe.
28 Da führten sie Jesus von Kaiaphas zum Richthaus; es war aber früh morgens. Und sie gingen nicht hinein in das Richthaus, damit sie nicht verunreinigt würden, sondern damit sie das Passah essen möchten.
Then led they Iesus from Caiaphas into the common hall. Nowe it was morning, and they themselues went not into the common hall, least they should be defiled, but that they might eate the Passeouer.
29 Da ging Pilatus zu ihnen, und sprach: Welche Anklage bringet ihr wider diesen Menschen?
Pilate then went out vnto them, and said, What accusation bring yee against this man?
30 Sie antworteten, und sagten ihm: Wenn diese nicht ein Übeltäter wäre, so hätten wir ihn dir nicht überliefert.
They answered, and saide vnto him, If hee were not an euill doer, we woulde not haue deliuered him vnto thee.
31 Da sprach Pilatus zu ihnen: Nehmet ihr ihn, und richtet ihn nach euerm Gesetz. Da sagten ihm die Juden: Uns ist es nicht gestattet, jemand hinzurichten.
Then sayde Pilate vnto them, Take yee him, and iudge him after your owne Lawe. Then the Iewes sayde vnto him, It is not lawfull for vs to put any man to death.
32 Damit das Wort Jesu erfüllt würde, welches er sagte, um anzuzeigen, welches Todes er sterben würde.
It was that the worde of Iesus might be fulfilled which he spake, signifying what death he should die.
33 Da ging Pilatus abermals in das Richthaus hinein, und rief Jesus, und sagte ihm: Bist du der König der Juden?
So Pilate entred into the common hall againe, and called Iesus, and sayde vnto him, Art thou the king of the Iewes?
34 Jesus antwortete ihm: Sagst du dies von dir selbst, oder haben dir es andere von mir gesagt?
Iesus answered him, Saiest thou that of thy selfe, or did other tell it thee of me?
35 Pilatus antwortete: Bin ich denn ein Jude? Dein Volk und die hohen Priester haben dich mir überliefert. Was hast du getan?
Pilate answered, Am I a Iewe? Thine owne nation, and the hie Priestes haue deliuered thee vnto me. What hast thou done?
36 Jesus antwortete: Meine Königsherrschaft ist nicht aus dieser Welt. Wenn meine Königsherrschaft aus dieser Welt wäre, so würden meine Diener kämpfen, daß ich den Juden nicht überliefert würde, nun aber ist meine Königsherrschaft nicht von daher.
Iesus answered, My kingdome is not of this worlde: if my kingdome were of this worlde, my seruants would surely fight, that I should not be deliuered to the Iewes: but nowe is my kingdome not from hence.
37 Da sprach Pilatus zu ihm: So bist du dennoch ein König? Jesus antwortete: Du sagst es, ich bin ein König. Darum bin ich geboren, und darum bin ich in die Welt gekommen, damit ich der Wahrheit Zeugnis gebe. Jeder, der aus der Wahrheit ist, hört meine Stimme.
Pilate then said vnto him, Art thou a King then? Iesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a King: for this cause am I borne, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should beare witnes vnto the trueth: euery one that is of the trueth, heareth my voyce.
38 Sagt ihm Pilatus: Was ist Wahrheit? Und als er dies gesagt, ging er wieder hinaus zu den Juden, und sagt ihnen: Ich finde keine Schuld an ihm.
Pilate said vnto him, What is trueth? And when he had saide that, hee went out againe vnto the Iewes, and said vnto them, I finde in him no cause at all.
39 Es ist aber ein Herkommen bei euch, daß ich euch einen am Passah losgebe. Wollt ihr nun, daß ich euch den König der Juden losgebe?
But you haue a custome, that I shoulde deliuer you one loose at the Passeouer: will yee then that I loose vnto you the King of ye Iewes?
40 Da schrieen abermals alle, und sagten: Nicht diesen, sondern den Barrabas. Barrabas aber war ein Räuber.
Then cried they all againe, saying, Not him, but Barabbas: nowe this Barabbas was a murtherer.
