Psalm 33

1 Freuet euch des HERRN, ihr Gerechten! Die Frommen sollen ihn schön preisen.

Rejoice in the LORD, you righteous. Praise is fitting for the upright.

2 Danket dem HERRN mit Harfen und lobsinget ihm auf dem Psalter von zehn Saiten!

Give thanks to the LORD with the lyre. Sing praises to him with the harp of ten strings.

3 Singet ihm ein neues Lied; machet es gut auf Saitenspielen mit Schalle!

Sing to him a new song. Play skillfully with a shout of joy.

4 Denn des HERRN Wort ist wahrhaftig, und was er zusagt, das hält er gewiß.

For the word of the LORD is right. All his work is done in faithfulness.

5 Er liebet Gerechtigkeit und Gericht. Die Erde ist voll der Güte des HERRN.

He loves righteousness and justice. The earth is full of the loving kindness of the LORD.

6 Der Himmel ist durchs Wort des HERRN gemacht und all sein Heer durch den Geist seines Mundes.

By the word of the LORD the heavens were made; and all their host by the breath of his mouth.

7 Er hält das Wasser im Meer zusammen wie in einem Schlauch und legt die Tiefe ins Verborgene.

He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap. He lays up the deeps in storehouses.

8 Alle Welt fürchte den HERRN, und vor ihm scheue sich alles, was auf dem Erdboden wohnet!

Let all the earth fear the LORD. Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

9 Denn er spricht, so geschieht's; so er gebeut, so stehet's da.

For he spoke, and it was done. He commanded, and it stood firm.

10 Der HERR macht zunichte der Heiden Rat und wendet die Gedanken der Völker.

The LORD nullifies the counsel of the nations. He makes the thoughts of the peoples to be of no effect.

11 Aber der Rat des HERRN bleibet ewiglich, seines Herzens Gedanken für und für.

The counsel of the LORD stands fast forever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

12 Wohl dem Volk, des der HERR ein Gott ist, das Volk, das er zum Erbe erwählet hat!

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom he has chosen for his own inheritance.

13 Der HERR schauet vom Himmel und siehet aller Menschen Kinder.

The LORD looks from heaven. He sees all the descendants of Adam.

14 Von seinem festen Thron siehet er auf alle, die auf Erden wohnen.

From the place of his habitation he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth,

15 Er lenket ihnen allen das Herz, er merket auf alle ihre Werke.

he who fashions all of their hearts; and he considers all of their works.

16 Einem Könige hilft nicht seine große Macht; ein Riese wird nicht errettet durch seine große Kraft;

There is no king saved by the multitude of an army. A mighty man is not delivered by great strength.

17 Rosse helfen auch nicht, und ihre große Stärke errettet nicht.

A horse is a vain thing for safety, neither does he deliver any by his great power.

18 Siehe, des HErm Auge siehet auf die, so ihn fürchten, die auf seine Güte hoffen,

Look, the LORD's eye is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his loving kindness;

19 daß er ihre Seele errette vom Tode und ernähre sie in der Teurung.

to deliver their soul from death, to keep them alive in famine.

20 Unsere Seele harret auf den HERRN; er ist unsere Hilfe und Schild.

Our soul waits for the LORD. He is our help and our shield.

21 Denn unser Herz freuet sich sein, und wir trauen auf seinen heiligen Namen.

For our heart rejoices in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.

22 Deine Güte, HERR, sei über uns, wie wir auf dich hoffen.

Let your loving kindness be on us, LORD, since we have hoped in you.
