Psalm 97

1 Jahwe ward König! Es frohlocke die Erde, es sollen sich freuen zahlreiche Inseln!

Yahweh he reigns let it be glad the earth let them rejoice islands many.

2 Gewölk und Dunkel ist um ihn her; Gerechtigkeit und Recht ist die Grundfeste seines Throns.

Cloud and thick darkness [are] around him [is] righteousness and justice [the] foundation of throne his.

3 Feuer geht vor ihm her und verbrennt ringsum seine Feinde.

Fire before him it goes and it may burn up all around opponents his.

4 Seine Blitze erleuchteten den Erdkreis; die Erde sah's und erzitterte.

They light up lightning flashes his [the] world it sees and it trembled the earth.

5 Berge zerschmolzen wie Wachs vor Jahwe, vor dem Herrn der ganzen Erde.

Mountains like wax they melt from to before Yahweh from to before [the] lord of all the earth.

6 Der Himmel verkündete seine Gerechtigkeit, und alle Völker sahen seine Herrlichkeit.

They declare the heavens righteousness his and they see all the peoples glory his.

7 Beschämt sind alle, die Bildern dienen, die sich der Götzen berühmen: werft euch nieder vor ihm, all' ihr Götter!

Let them be ashamed - all [those who] serve an image those [who] boast in worthless idols bow down to him O all gods.

8 Zion hörte es und ward fröhlich, und es frohlockten die Töchter Judas um deiner Gerichte willen, Jahwe.

It hears and it rejoiced - Zion and they were glad [the] daughters of Judah on account of judgments your O Yahweh.

9 Denn du, Jahwe, bist der Höchste auf der ganzen Erde, bist hoch erhaben über alle Götter.

For you O Yahweh [are] most high over all the earth exceedingly you are exalted above all gods.

10 Die ihr Jahwe liebt, hasset das Arge! Er bewahrt die Seelen seiner Frommen; aus der Gewalt der Gottlosen rettet er sie.

O [you who] love Yahweh hate evil [he is] protecting [the] lives of faithful [people] his from [the] hand of wicked [people] he delivers them.

11 Licht geht den Frommen auf und Freude denen, die redliches Sinnes sind.

Light [is] sown for the righteous and for [people] upright of heart joy.

12 Freut euch, ihr Frommen, über Jahwe und dankt seinem heiligen Namen!

Rejoice O righteous [people] in Yahweh and give thanks to [the] remembrance of holiness his.
