Psalm 3
1 Ein Psalm Davids, als er vor seinem Sohn Absalom floh. Jahwe, wie sind meiner Bedränger so viel, viele erheben sich wider mich!
A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many [are] they that rise up against me.
2 Viele sagen von mir: Es giebt keine Hilfe für ihn bei Gott! (Sela)
Many [there be] which say of my soul, [There is] no help for him in God. (Selah)
3 Aber du, Jahwe, bist Schild um mich - meine Ehre und der mein Haupt erhebt!
But thou, O LORD, [art] a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
4 Laut rief ich zu Jahwe; da erhörte er mich von seinem heiligen Berge. (Sela)
I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. (Selah)
5 Ich legte mich nieder und entschlief: ich bin erwacht, denn Jahwe stützt mich.
I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.
6 Ich fürchte mich nicht vor zahllosen Scharen von Kriegsvolk, die sich ringsum wider mich gelagert haben.
I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set [themselves] against me round about.
7 Auf, Jahwe! Hilf mir, mein Gott! Denn du schlugst alle meine Feinde auf den Kinnbacken, zerschmettertest die Zähne der Gottlosen.
Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies [upon] the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.
8 Bei Jahwe steht die Hilfe! Über dein Volk komme dein Segen! (Sela)
Salvation [belongeth] unto the LORD: thy blessing [is] upon thy people. (Selah)
