Psalm 138

1 Von David. Von ganzem Herzen will ich dich preisen, angesichts der Götter dir lobsingen!

A Psalm for David, of Aggaeus and Zacharias. I will give you thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart; and I will sing psalms to you before the angels; for you have heard all the words of my mouth.

2 Ich will mich niederwerfen vor deinem heiligen Tempel und deinen Namen preisen um deiner Gnade und Treue willen; denn du hast deinen Namen, dein Wort über alles groß gemacht.

I will worship toward your holy temple, and give thanks to your name, on account of your mercy and your truth; for you have magnified your holy name above every thing.

3 Als ich rief, erhörtest du mich; du machtest mich stolz, mein Inneres war voll Kraft.

In whatever day I shall call upon you, hear me speedily; you shall abundantly provide me with your power in my soul.

4 Es sollen dich preisen, Jahwe, alle Könige der Erde, denn sie haben die Worte deines Mundes gehört,

Let all the kings of the earth, o Lord, give thanks to you; for they have heard all the words of your mouth.

5 und sollen singen von den Wegen Jahwes, denn die Herrlichkeit Jahwes ist groß.

And let them sing in the ways of the Lord; for great is the glory of the Lord.

6 Denn erhaben ist Jahwe und sieht den Niedrigen und erkennt den Stolzen von ferne.

For the Lord is high, and [yet] regards the lowly; and he knows high things from afar off.

7 Wenn ich inmitten von Drangsal wandeln muß, wirst du mich am Leben erhalten! Wider den Zorn meiner Feinde wirst du deine Hand ausstrecken, und deine Rechte wird mir helfen.

Though I should walk in the midst of affliction, you will quicken me; you have stretched forth your hands against the wrath of mine enemies, and your right hand has saved me.

8 Jahwe wird's für mich vollenden: Jahwe, deine Gnade währt ewig, laß deiner Hände Werke nicht fahren!

O Lord, you shall recompense [them] on my behalf: your mercy, O Lord, [endures] for ever: overlook not the works of your hands.
