Psalm 105
1 Danket Jahwe, ruft seinen Namen an! Macht unter den Völkern seine Thaten kund!
Alleluia. Confess to the Lord, and invoke his name. Announce his works among the nations.
2 Singet ihm! Lobsingt ihm! Redet von allen seinen Wundern.
Sing to him, and sing psalms to him. Describe all his wonders.
3 Rühmt euch seines heiligen Namens; es freue sich das Herz derer, die Jahwe suchen.
Be praised in his holy name. Let the heart of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
4 Fragt nach Jahwe und seiner Stärke, sucht beständig sein Angesicht.
Seek the Lord, and be confirmed. Seek his face always.
5 Gedenkt seiner Wunder, die er gethan, seiner Zeichen und der Urteilssprüche seines Mundes,
Remember his miracles, which he has done, his portents and the judgments of his mouth:
6 Nachkommen Abrahams, seine Knechte, Söhne Jakobs, seine Auserwählten!
you offspring of Abraham his servant, you sons of Jacob his elect.
7 Er, Jahwe, ist unser Gott; über die ganze Erde ergehen seine Gerichte.
He is the Lord our God. His judgments are throughout the entire earth.
8 Er gedenkt ewig seines Bunds, des Wortes, das er verordnet hat, auf tausend Geschlechter,
He has remembered his covenant for all ages: the word that he entrusted to a thousand generations,
9 des Bundes, den er mit Abraham geschlossen, und seines Schwurs an Isaak.
which he assigned to Abraham, and his oath to Isaac.
10 Und er stellte ihn für Jakob als eine Satzung hin, als einen ewig giltigen Bund für Israel, -
And he stationed the same for Jacob with a precept, and for Israel with an eternal testament,
11 indem er sprach: “Dir will ich das Land Kanaan verleihen als euer erbliches Besitztum!” -
saying: To you, I will give the land of Canaan, the allotment of your inheritance.
12 als sie noch gering an Zahl waren, gar wenige, und als Fremdlinge darin weilten.
Though they may have been but a small number, very few and foreigners there,
13 Und sie zogen von Volk zu Volk, von einem Königreiche zu einer anderen Nation.
and though they passed from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people,
14 Er gestattete niemandem, sie zu bedrücken, und strafte um ihretwillen Könige.
he allowed no man to harm them, and he reproved kings on their behalf.
15 “Tastet meine Gesalbten nicht an und thut meinen Propheten kein Leid!”
Do not be willing to touch my Christ, and do not be willing to malign my prophets.
16 Als er nun eine Hungersnot ins Land rief, jegliche Stütze an Brot zerbrach,
And he called a famine upon the land, and he crushed every foundation of the bread.
17 da hatte er ihnen bereits einen vorausgesandt; Joseph war als Sklave verkauft.
He sent a man before them: Joseph, who had been sold as a slave.
18 Sie hatten seine Füße in den Block gezwängt, in Eisenfesseln war er gekommen,
They humbled his feet in shackles; the iron pierced his soul,
19 bis zu der Zeit, wo sein Wort eintraf, der Ausspruch Jahwes ihn bewährte.
until his word arrived. The eloquence of the Lord inflamed him.
20 Da sandte der König hin und machte ihn los, der Völkerbeherrscher, und befreite ihn.
The king sent and released him; he was the ruler of the people, and he dismissed him.
21 Er machte ihn zum Herrn über sein Haus und zum Herrscher über allen seinen Besitz,
He established him as master of his house and ruler of all his possessions,
22 daß er seine Fürsten nach seinem Belieben feßle und seine Vornehmen klug mache.
so that he might instruct his princes as himself, and teach his elders prudence.
23 Und Israel kam nach Ägypten und Jakob weilte als Fremdling im Lande Hams.
And Israel entered into Egypt, and Jacob became a sojourner in the land of Ham.
24 Und er machte sein Volk überaus fruchtbar und machte es zahlreicher als seine Bedränger.
And he helped his people greatly, and he strengthened them over their enemies.
25 Er wandelte ihren Sinn, sein Volk zu hassen, an seinen Knechten Arglist zu üben.
He turned their heart to hate his people, and to deal deceitfully with his servants.
26 Er sandte Mose, seinen Knecht, Aaron, den er erwählt hatte.
He sent Moses, his servant, and Aaron, the one whom he chose.
27 Er verrichtete an ihnen seine Wunder und seine Zeichen am Lande Hams.
He placed with them signs of his word, and portents in the land of Ham.
28 Er sandte Finsternis und machte es finster, aber sie achteten nicht auf sein Wort.
He sent darkness and made it conceal, and he did not afflict them with his speech.
29 Er verwandelte ihre Gewässer in Blut und ließ ihre Fische sterben.
He turned their waters into blood, and he slaughtered their fish.
30 Ihr Land wimmelte von Fröschen in den Gemächern ihrer Könige.
Their land brought forth frogs, even in the inner chambers of their kings.
31 Er gebot, da kamen Hundsfliegen, Stechmücken in ihr ganzes Gebiet.
He spoke, and there came forth common flies and gnats, in every region.
32 Er sandte ihnen Hagel als Regen, flammendes Feuer in ihr Land.
He gave them a shower of hail and a burning fire, in the same land.
33 Er schlug ihren Weinstock und ihren Feigenbaum und zerschmetterte die Bäume ihres Gebiets.
And he struck their vineyards and their fig trees, and he crushed the trees of their region.
34 Er gebot, da kamen die Heuschrecken und die Fresser ohne Zahl.
He spoke, and the locust came forth, and the caterpillar, of which there was no number.
35 Die fraßen alle Pflanzen in ihrem Land und fraßen die Frucht des Feldes.
And it devoured all the grass in their land, and it consumed all the fruit of their land.
36 Er schlug alle Erstgeborenen in ihrem Lande, die Erstlinge all' ihrer Manneskraft.
And he struck all the first-born in their land, the first-fruits of all their labor.
37 Er ließ sie ausziehen mit Silber und Gold, und es gab keinen Strauchelnden unter seinen Stämmen.
And he led them out with silver and gold, and there was not an infirm one among their tribes.
38 Ägypten freute sich über ihren Auszug, denn es hatte sie Schrecken vor ihnen befallen.
Egypt was joyful at their departure, for the fear of them lay heavy upon them.
39 Er breitete Gewölk als Decke aus und Feuer, um die Nacht zu erhellen.
He spread a cloud for their protection, and a fire, to give them light through the night.
40 Sie forderten, da ließ er Wachteln kommen und sättigte sie mit Himmelsbrot.
They petitioned, and the quail came; and he satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
41 Er öffnete den Felsen, da flossen Wasser, rannen in der Dürre als ein Strom.
He ruptured the rock and the waters flowed: rivers gushed in the dry land.
42 Denn er gedachte an sein heiliges Wort, an Abraham, seinen Knecht,
For he had called to mind his holy word, which he kept near to his servant Abraham.
43 und führte sein Volk in Freuden heraus, seine Auserwählten unter Jubel.
And he led forth his people in exultation, and his elect in rejoicing.
44 Er verlieh ihnen die Länder der Heiden, und was die Völker mit Mühe erworben, das nahmen sie in Besitz,
And he gave them the regions of the Gentiles, and they possessed the labors of the peoples,
45 damit sie seine Satzungen hielten und seine Weisungen beobachteten. Rühmet Jah!
so that they might observe his justifications, and inquire about his law.
