Jesaja 66

1 So spricht Jahwe: Der Himmel ist mein Thron und die Erde meiner Füße Schemel. Was wäre das für ein Haus, das ihr mir bauen wolltet, und welcher Ort meine Ruhestätte?

Thus says the Lord: Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What is this house that you would build for me? And what is this place of my rest?

2 Hat doch meine Hand dieses alles gemacht, so daß alles dieses entstand, ist der Spruch Jahwes. Auf solche aber blicke ich hin: auf die, welche elend sind und zerschlagenes Geistes und um meines Wortes willen erzittern.

My hand has made all these things, and all these things have been made, says the Lord. But upon whom will I look with favor, except upon a poor little one, who is contrite in spirit, and who trembles at my words?

3 Wer Stiere schlachtet, zugleich aber Menschen erschlägt; wer Schafe opfert, zugleich aber Hunde würgt; wer Speisopfer darbringt, zugleich aber auch Schweinsblut; wer Weihrauch verbrennt, zugleich aber einen Abgott grüßt -: ebenso wie sie zu ihren eigenen Wegen Lust hatten, und an ihren Scheusalen Wohlgefallen haben,

Whoever immolates an ox, it is as if he slaughters a man. Whoever sacrifices a sheep, it is as if he is smashing the head of a dog. Whoever offers an oblation, it is as if he is offering swine’s blood. Whoever makes remembrance with incense, it is as if he is blessing an idol. All these things, they have chosen according to their own ways, and their soul has taken delight in their own abominations.

4 so will auch ich an ihrer Mißhandlung Lust habenund ihnen bringen, wovor ihnen graut, dieweil ich rief, ohne daß jemand antwortete, redete, ohne daß sie hörten; vielmehr, was mir mißfiel, das thaten sie, und das, woran ich keinen Gefallen habe, hatten sie gern.

Therefore, I also will choose their illusions, and I will lead over them the things that they feared. For I called, and there was no one who would respond. I have spoken, and they have not listened. And they have done evil in my eyes; and what I did not will, they have chosen.

5 Hört das Wort Jahwes, ihr, die ihr vor seinem Wort erzittert! Gesagt haben eure Brüder, die euch hassen, euch von sich stoßen um meines Namens willen: “Möge sich nur Jahwe verherrlichen, daß wir eure Freude mit ansehen können!” Aber sie sollen zu Schanden werden.

Listen to the word of the Lord, you who tremble at his word. Your brothers, who hate you and who cast you out because of my name, have said: “Let the Lord be glorified, and we will see by your rejoicing.” But they themselves will be confounded.

6 Horch! Getöse erschallt von der Stadt her; horch! vom Tempel her erschallt die Donnerstimme Jahwes, der heimzahlt seinen Feinden, was sie verübt haben!

A voice of the people from the city! A voice from the temple! The voice of the Lord repaying retribution to his enemies!

7 Ehe sie kreißte, hat sie geboren; ehe noch eine Wehe sie ankam, ist sie eines Knäbleins genesen.

Before she was in labor, she gave birth. Before her time arrived for delivery, she gave birth to a male child.

8 Wer hat je derartiges gehört? wer hat je solches gesehen? Wird denn ein Land zur Welt gebracht an einem Tage, oder ein Volk geboren auf einmal? - daß gekreißt und zugleich auch geboren hat Zion ihre Kinder?

Who has ever heard of such a thing? And who has seen anything like this? Will the earth give birth in one day? Or will a nation be born all at once? For Zion has been in labor, and she has given birth to her sons.

9 Werde ich etwa das Kind dem Durchbruche nahe bringen, ohne es gebären zu lassen? spricht Jahwe. oder bin ich ein solcher, der gebären läßt und dann zurückhält? spricht dein Gott.

Will I, who causes others to give birth, not also give birth myself, says the Lord? Will I, who bestows generation upon others, be barren myself, says the Lord your God?

10 Freut euch mit Jerusalem und jubelt über sie, ihr alle, die ihr sie lieb habt; frohlockt mit ihr, ihr alle, die ihr über sie trauert,

Rejoice with Jerusalem, and exult in her, all you who love her! Rejoice greatly with her, all you who mourn over her!

11 damit ihr euch satt saugt aus der Brust ihrer Tröstungen, damit ihr schlürft und euch erlabt an der Fülle ihrer Herrlichkeit!

So may you nurse and be filled, from the breasts of her consolations. So may you receive milk and overflow with delights, from every portion of her glory.

12 Denn so spricht Jahwe: Fürwahr, ich wende ihr Frieden zu gleich einem Strom und die Herrlichkeit der Völker gleich einem überflutenden Bache, daß ihr euch vollsaugen sollt, und auf der Hüfte werdet ihr getragen und auf den Knieen geliebkost werden.

For thus says the Lord: Behold, I will turn a river of peace toward her, with an inundating torrent: the glory of the Gentiles, from which you will nurse. You will be carried at the breasts, and they will caress you upon the knees.

13 Wie einen, den seine Mutter tröstet, so will ich euch trösten, und in Jerusalem sollt ihr getröstet werden.

In the manner of one whom a mother caresses, so will I console you. And you will be consoled in Jerusalem.

14 Und wenn ihr es seht, so wird euer Herz frohlocken, und eure Gebeine werden sprossen wie junges Grün. Da wird sich die Hand Jahwes seinen Knechten offenbaren, aber aufbrausen wird er gegen seine Feinde.

You will see, and your heart will be glad, and your bones will flourish like a plant, and the hand of the Lord will be known to his servants, and he will be angry with his enemies.

15 Denn fürwahr, Jahwe wird im Feuer daherkommen, und dem Sturmwinde gleichen seine Wagen, daß er in Glut seinen Zorn heimzahle und sein Schelten in Feuerflammen.

For behold, the Lord will arrive with fire, and his four-horse chariots will be like a whirlwind: to render his wrath with indignation, and his rebuke with flames of fire.

16 Denn mit Feuer rechtet Jahwe und durch sein Schwert mit jeglichem Fleisch, und die von Jahwe Erschlagenen werden zahlreich sein.

For the Lord will divide with fire, and with his sword among all flesh, and those slain by the Lord will be many.

17 Sie, die sich weihen und reinigen für die Gärten hinter dem Einen in der Mitte, dabei aber Fleisch verzehren vom Schwein und von eklem Getier und der Maus: mit ihnen soll es insgesamt ein Ende nehmen! ist der Spruch Jahwes.

Those who were sanctified, who thought themselves to be clean in the gardens behind the inner gate, who were eating swine’s flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse: they will be consumed all at once, says the Lord.

18 Ich aber kenne ihr Thun und ihre Gedanken! Und ich werde kommen, zu versammeln alle Völker und Zungen, daß sie kommen und meine Herrlichkeit sehen.

But I know their works and their thoughts. I am arriving, so that I may gather them together with all nations and languages. And they will approach, and they will see my glory.

19 Und ich werde ein Zeichen unter ihnen thun und etliche von ihnen als Entronnene zu den Völkern senden: nach Tarsis, zu Put und Lud, die den Bogen spannen, zu Thubal und Javan, nach den fernen Inseln, die von meinem Namen nichts vernommen, noch meine Herrlichkeit gesehen haben. Und sie sollen meine Herrlichkeit unter den Völkern kund thun,

And I will set a sign among them. And I will send some of those who will have been saved to the Gentiles in the sea, to Africa, and to those who draw the bow in Lydia, to Italy and Greece, to islands far away, to those who have not heard of me, and to those who have not seen my glory. And they will announce my glory to the Gentiles.

20 damit sie alle eure Brüder aus allen Völkern heimbringen als eine Opfergabe für Jahwe, auf Rossen und auf Wagen und auf Sänften, auf Maultieren und Dromedaren, hinauf zu meinem heiligen Berge, nach Jerusalem, spricht Jahwe, gleichwie die Israeliten die Opfergaben in reinem Gefäße zum Tempel Jahwes zu bringen pflegen.

And they will lead all of your brothers from all of the Gentiles as a gift to the Lord, on horses, and in four-horse chariots, and on stretchers, and on mules, and in coaches, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, says the Lord, in the same manner that the sons of Israel would carry an offering in a pure vessel into the house of the Lord.

21 Und auch von jenen werde ich mir welche zu Priestern nehmen, spricht Jahwe.

And I will take from them to be priests and Levites, says the Lord.

22 Denn gleichwie der neue Himmel und die neue Erde, die ich schaffe, vor mir fortbestehen werden - ist der Spruch Jahwes -, so wird auch euer Geschlecht und euer Name fortbestehen.

For in like manner as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will cause to stand before me, says the Lord, so will your offspring and your name stand.

23 Und dereinst an jedem Neumondstage und an jedem Sabbattage wird alles Fleisch kommen, um vor mir anzubeten, spricht Jahwe.

And there will be month after month, and Sabbath after Sabbath. And all flesh will approach, so as to adore before my face, says the Lord.

24 Und sie werden hinausgehen und ihre Lust sehen an den Leichnamen der Männer, die von mir abtrünnig geworden sind; denn ihr Wurm wird nicht sterben und ihr Feuer nicht verlöschen, und sie werden ein Abscheu sein für alles Fleisch!

And they will go out, and they will view the carcasses of the men who have transgressed against me. Their worm will not die, and their fire will not be extinguished. And they will be a sight to all flesh even unto revulsion.
