Jesaja 48
1 Hört dies, ihr vom Hause Jakobs, die ihr nach dem Namen Israels benannt seid und aus dem Quell Judas hervorgingt, die da schwören bei dem Namen Jahwes und den Gott Israels im Munde führen, wenngleich nicht in Wahrheit und nicht in Aufrichtigkeit!
Hear this, O house of Jacob! Ye that are called by the name of Israel; Ye that have come forth from the fountain of Judah; Ye that swear by the name of Jehovah, And praise the God of Israel, But not in truth and sincerity!
2 Denn von der heiligen Stadt tragen sie ihren Namen und auf den Gott Israels stützen sie sich: Jahwe der Heerscharen ist sein Name!
For they call themselves of the holy city, And stay themselves on the God of Israel, Whose name is Jehovah of hosts: —
3 Das Frühere habe ich vorlängst kund gethan; aus meinem und ist es ergangen, und ich teilte es ihnen mit. Plötzlich habe ich es ausgeführt, so daß es eintraf,
What hath happened I declared to you long ago; From my mouth it proceeded, and I made it known; On a sudden I effected it, and it came to pass.
4 weil ich wußte, daß du starrsinnig bist, und dein Nacken eine eiserne Sehne und deine Stirne Erz ist.
Because I knew that thou art obstinate, And that thy neck is a bar of iron, And that thy brow is brass,
5 Und so that ich es dir vorlängst kund: ehe es eintraf, teilte ich dir's mit, damit du nicht sagen könntest: Mein Götze hat es ausgeführt, und mein Schnitzbild und mein Gußbild hat es angeordnet!
I declared it to thee long ago; Before it came to pass, I made it known to thee; Lest thou shouldst say, My idol effected it, And my graven image, and my molten image ordained it.
6 Du hast's gehört - da sieh es nun alles! Ihr aber - wollt ihr's nicht bekennen? Ich habe dir Neues mitgeteilt von jetzt ab und verborgen Gehaltenes und was du nicht wußtest.
Thou hast heard it; now see it all! And will ye not confess it? From this time I make you hear a new thing, Even a hidden thing, which thou hast not known.
7 Jetzt ist es geschaffen und nicht vorlängst; und vor heute hattest du nicht davon gehört, damit du nicht sagen könntest: Ich wußte es ja!
It is produced now, and not long ago; Before this day thou hast not heard of it, Lest thou shouldst say, Behold, I knew it.
8 Weder hattest du davon gehört, noch wußtest du davon, noch war dir vorlängst das Ohr aufgethan; denn ich wußte: Ganz und gar bist du treulos und heißest “Übertreter” vom Mutterleibe an!
Yea, thou heardest it not; yea, thou knewest it not; Yea, it was not disclosed to thee long ago; For I knew that thou wast wholly faithless, And wast called rebellious from thy birth.
9 Um meines Namens willen halte ich meinen Zorn hin und meines Ruhmes halber bändige ich ihn dir zu lieb, daß ich dich nicht ausrotte.
For the sake of my name I will defer my anger, And for the sake of my praise I will restrain it from thee, That I may not utterly cut thee off.
10 Fürwahr, ich habe dich geschmolzen, aber nicht als Silber; ich habe dich geprüft im Schmelzofen des Elends.
Behold, I have melted thee, and found no silver; I have tried thee in the furnace of affliction.
11 Um meinetwillen, um meinetwillen thue ich's - denn wie würde mein Name entweiht werden! - und meine Ehre will ich keinem anderen abtreten!
For mine own sake will I do it; For how would my name be blasphemed? And my glory will I not give to another.
12 Höre auf mich, Jakob, und Israel, der du von mir berufen bist: Ich bin es, ich bin der erste und bin auch der letzte!
Hearken to me, O Jacob, And Israel, whom I have called! I am He, I am the first, and I the last.
13 Hat doch meine Hand die Erde gegründet, und meine Recht den Himmel ausgespannt. Ich rufe ihnen zu: insgesamt stehen sie da!
Yea, my hand hath founded the earth, And my right hand hath spread out the heavens; I called them; they stood forth together.
14 Versammelt euch, ihr alle, und hört: Wer unter ihnen hat solches verkündigt: Er, den Jahwe liebt, wird seinen Willen an Babel vollstrecken und seine Macht an den Chaldäern?
Assemble yourselves, all of you, and hear! Who among you hath declared these things? He whom Jehovah loveth will execute his pleasure upon Babylon, And his power upon the Chaldaeans.
15 Ich, ich habe es verkündigt und habe ihn auch berufen; ich habe ihn hergeführt und schenkte ihm Gelingen.
I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him; I have brought him, and his way shall be prosperous.
16 Tretet her zu mir und höret dies: Von Anfang an habe ich nicht im Verborgenen geredet; seitdem es geschah, bin ich zugegen! Jetzt aber hat der Herr, Jahwe, mich gesandt mit seinem Geiste!
Draw near to me, and hear ye this! I spake not in secret from the beginning; And since it began to be, I have been there; And now hath the Lord Jehovah sent me with his spirit.
17 So spricht Jahwe, dein Erlöser, der Heilige Israels: Ich, Jahwe, dein Gott, bin's, der dich unterweist, ersprießlich zu handeln der dich auf dem Wege leitet, den du gehen sollst.
Thus saith Jehovah, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am Jehovah, thy God, who teacheth thee what will profit thee; Who leadeth thee in the way thou shouldst go.
18 O daß du aufmerken wolltest auf meine Befehle, so würde einem Strome gleich deine Wohlfahrt werden, und deine Gerechtigkeit wie die Meereswogen;
O that thou wouldst hearken to my commandments! Then shall thy peace be as a river, And thy prosperity as the waves of the sea;
19 da würden zahlreich wie der Sand deine Nachkommen sein und die Sprößlinge deines Leibes wie die Krümchen der Erde: Nicht wird ausgerottet, noch vertilgt werden dein Name aus meinem Angesicht!
Then shall thy posterity be as the sand, And the fruit of thy body as the offspring of the sea; Thy name shall not be cut off, nor destroyed before me.
20 Zieht aus aus Babel, flieht hinweg von den Chaldäern unter schallendem Jubelgeschrei. Thut dies kund und verkündigt es, breitet es aus bis ans Ende der Erde! Sprecht: Erlöst hat Jahwe seinen Knecht Jakob!
Come ye forth from Babylon, flee ye from the land of the Chaldaeans with the voice of joy! Publish ye this, and make it known; Let it resound to the ends of the earth! Say: “Jehovah hath redeemed his servant Jacob;
21 Und sie dürsteten nicht, als er sie durch Wüsteneien führte, denn er ließ ihnen Wasser aus Felsen rieseln und spaltete Felsen, daß die Wasser rannen!
They thirst not in the deserts through which he leadeth them; Waters from the rock he causeth to flow for them; He cleaveth the rock, and the waters gush forth.
22 Keinen Frieden, spricht Jahwe, giebt es für die Gottlosen!
There is no peace, saith Jehovah, for the wicked.”
