2 Chronik 20
1 Darnach aber rückten die Moabiter und die Ammoniter und mit ihnen welche von den Meunitern gegen Josaphat an, um ihn anzugreifen.
And it was after this they came [the] people of Moab and [the] people of Ammon and with them - some of the Ammonites on Jehoshaphat for battle.
2 Als nun Boten kamen und Josaphat meldeten: Von jenseits des Meers, von Edom, rückt ein gewaltiger Haufe gegen dich an, und sie sind schon in Hazezon-Thamar (das ist Engedi)! -
And people came and they told to Jehoshaphat saying [is] coming on you a multitude great from [the] other side of the sea from Aram and there they [are] in Hazezon Tamar it [is] En Gedi.
3 da geriet Josaphat in Furcht und schickte sich an, Jahwe zu suchen, und ließ in ganz Juda ein Fasten ausrufen.
And he was afraid and he gave Jehoshaphat face his to seek Yahweh and he proclaimed a fast over all Judah.
4 Da versammelten sich die Judäer, um Jahwe um Hilfe anzugehen; auch aus allen Städten kamen sie, Jahwe zu suchen.
And they gathered Judah to seek from Yahweh also from all [the] cities of Judah they came to seek Yahweh.
5 Josaphat aber trat in der Volksgemeinde Judas und Jerusalems, im Tempel Jahwes, vor den neuen Vorhof hin
And he stood Jehoshaphat in [the] assembly of Judah and Jerusalem in [the] house of Yahweh before the courtyard new.
6 und sprach: Jahwe, du Gott unserer Väter, du bist ja Gott im Himmel, du der Herrscher über alle Reiche der Heiden! In deiner Hand ist Kraft und Stärke, und niemand vermag dir gegenüber standzuhalten.
And he said O Yahweh [the] God of ancestors our ¿ not [are] you he God in the heavens and you [are] ruler over all [the] kingdoms of the nations and [are] in hand your power and strength and there not [is] with you to hold ground.
7 Du, unser Gott, hast ja die Bewohner dieses Landes vor deinem Volk Israel vertrieben und es den Nachkommen Abrahams, deines Freundes, für immer übergeben.
¿ Not - you O God our did you dispossess [the] inhabitants of the land this from to before people your Israel and you gave it to [the] offspring of Abraham friend your for ever.
8 Und sie ließen sich darin nieder und erbauten dir darin ein Heiligtum für deinen Namen, indem sie sprachen:
And they have dwelt in it and they have built for you - in it a sanctuary for name your saying.
9 Wenn uns ein Unglück trifft, Krieg, Strafgericht, Pest oder Hungersnot, so wollen wir vor diesen Tempel und vor dich treten - denn dein Name wohnt in diesem Tempel! - und dich in unserer Not anflehen, damit du uns hörest und errettest.
If it will come on us calamity sword judgment and pestilence and famine we will stand before the house this and before you for name your [is] in the house this so we may cry out to you from distress our so you may hear and you may save.
10 Nun sind da die Ammoniter und Moabiter und die vom Gebirge Seïr, deren Land du die Israeliten, als sie aus Ägypten kamen, nicht betreten ließest; vielmehr wichen sie ihnen aus und vernichteten sie nicht.
And therefore here! [the] people of Ammon and Moab and [the] mountain of Seir which not you permitted to Israel to go in them when came they from [the] land of Egypt for they turned aside from on them and not they destroyed them.
11 Und jetzt üben sie Vergeltung gegen uns und kommen, uns aus deinem Besitztum, das du uns verliehen hast, zu vertreiben!
And here! they [are] repaying to us by coming to drive out us from possession your which you caused to possess us.
12 O unser Gott! Willst du sie nicht strafen? Denn wir sind kraftlos gegenüber diesem gewaltigen Haufen, der gegen uns anrückt; wir wissen nicht, was wir thun sollen, sondern auf dich sind unsere Augen gerichtet!
O God our ¿ not will you enter into judgment on them for there not in us [is] strength before the multitude great this which is coming on us and we not we know what? will we do for [are] on you eyes our.
13 Sämtliche Judäer aber standen da vor Jahwe samt ihren kleinen Kindern, ihren Frauen und ihren Söhnen.
And all Judah [were] standing before Yahweh also little one[s] their wives their and children their.
14 Da kam der Geist Jahwes inmitten der Volksgemeinde über Jahasïel, den Sohn Sacharjas, des Sohnes Benajas, des Sohnes Jeïels, des Sohnes Mattanjas, den Leviten aus den Nachkommen Asaphs,
And Jahaziel [the] son of Zechariah [the] son of Benaiah [the] son of Jeiel [the] son of Mattaniah the Levite one of [the] descendants of Asaph it was on him [the] spirit of Yahweh in [the] midst of the assembly.
15 und er rief: Merkt auf, all' ihr Judäer und ihr Bewohner Jerusalems, und du, o König Josaphat! So spricht Jahwe zu euch: Ihr braucht euch nicht zu fürchten, noch zu erschrecken vor diesem gewaltigen Haufen, denn nicht euch liegt der Kampf ob, sondern Gotte!
And he said pay attention O all Judah and [the] inhabitants of Jerusalem and the king Jehoshaphat thus he says Yahweh to you O you may not you be afraid and may not you be dismayed because of the multitude great this for not [belongs] to you the battle for to God.
16 Zieht morgen gegen sie hinab; sie werden auf der Steige von Ziz anrücken, und ihr werdet auf sie stoßen am Ende des Bachthals östlich von der Steppe von Jeruel.
Tomorrow go down on them there they [will be] coming up on [the] ascent of Ziz and you will find them at [the] end of the wadi [the] face of [the] wilderness of Jeruel.
17 Aber nicht euch liegt es ob, bei diesem Anlaß zu kämpfen; nehmt nur Aufstellung dort, so werdet ihr die Errettung sehen, die Jahwe euch, ihr Judäer und Jerusalemiten, widerfahren läßt. Fürchtet euch nicht und erschrecket nicht! Zieht ihnen morgen entgegen, und Jahwe wird mit euch sein!
Not [belongs] to you to fight in this [battle] take your stand stand and see [the] victory of Yahweh with you O Judah and Jerusalem may not you be afraid and may not you be dismayed tomorrow go out before them and Yahweh [will be] with you.
18 Da verneigte sich Josaphat mit dem Angesichte bis zur Erde, und ganz Juda und die Bewohner Jerusalems warfen sich vor Jahwe nieder, um Jahwe anzubeten.
And he bowed low Jehoshaphat face [the] ground towards and all Judah and [the] inhabitants of Jerusalem they fell down before Yahweh to bow down to Yahweh.
19 Sodann erhoben sich die Leviten, die zu den Nachkommen der Kahathiter und den Nachkommen der Korhiter gehörten, um Jahwe, den Gott Israels, mit überaus lauter Stimme zu preisen.
And they stood the Levites of [the] descendants of the Kohathites and of [the] descendants of the Korahites to praise Yahweh [the] God of Israel with a voice great upwards.
20 Am andern Morgen früh aber zogen sie nach der Steppe von Thekoa, und als sie auszogen, trat Josaphat hin und sprach: Hört mich an, ihr Judäer und ihr Bewohner Jerusalems! Vertraut auf Jahwe, euren Gott, so werdet ihr Bestand haben; vertraut auf seine Propheten, so werdet ihr Gelingen haben!
And they rose early in the morning and they went out to [the] wilderness of Tekoa and when went out they he stood Jehoshaphat and he said listen to me O Judah and [the] inhabitants of Jerusalem trust in Yahweh God your so you may be established trust in prophets his and succeed.
21 Sodann verabredete er sich mit dem Volk und bestellte Sänger Jahwes, daß sie im heiligen Schmucke den Lobpreis anstimmten, während sie vor den Kampfgerüsteten einherzögen, und sprächen: Danket Jahwe, denn ewig währt seine Gnade!
And he consulted the people and he appointed [those who] sang to Yahweh and [those who] praised to adornment of holiness when went out before the [man] equipped and saying give thanks to Yahweh for [is] for ever covenant loyalty his.
22 Sobald sie aber mit dem Jubelruf und Lobpreis begonnen hatten, sorgte Jahwe für Auflauerer gegen die Ammoniter, Moabiter und die vom Gebirge Seïr, die gegen Juda anrückten, und sie wurden geschlagen.
And at [the] time [when] they began with a shout of joy and praise he set Yahweh - ambushers on [the] people of Ammon Moab and [the] mountain of Seir who were coming to Judah and they were defeated.
23 Und zwar standen die Ammoniter und Moabiter gegen die Bewohner des Gebirges Seïr, sie niederzumetzeln und zu vertilgen, und als sie mit den Bewohnern Seïrs fertig waren, halfen sie sich einander zum Verderben.
And they rose up [the] people of Ammon and Moab on [the] inhabitants of [the] mountain of Seir to totally destroy [them] and to destroy [them] and just as had finished they with [the] inhabitants of Seir they helped each on neighbor his to destruction.
24 Als nun die Judäer auf die Höhe kamen, von der aus man die Steppe übersehen konnte, und nach dem Völkerhaufen ausschauten, da fand sich, daß es lauter Leichen waren, die am Boden lagen, ohne daß einer entronnen war.
And Judah it came to the watchtower of the wilderness and they turned to the multitude and there they [were] corpses lying [the] ground towards and there not [was] an escaped remnant.
25 Josaphat aber kam mit seinen Kriegern herzu, um als Beute zu nehmen, was sie bei sich hatten; da fanden sie eine Menge Vieh und Fahrhabe und Kleider und kostbare Geräte und nahmen sich davon so viel, daß es nicht fortzubringen war. Und so waren sie drei Tage mit der Plünderung beschäftigt - so groß war die Beute.
And he went Jehoshaphat and people his to plunder booty their and they found among them to abundance and property and corpses and articles of precious things and they plundered for themselves to there not [was] carrying and they were days three plundering the booty for [was] much it.
26 Am vierten Tag aber versammelten sie sich im Lobpreisthale. Denn dort preisen sie Jahwe; darum nennt man jene Örtlichkeit bis auf den heutigen Tag “Lobpreisthal”.
And on the day fourth they assembled to [the] valley of Berachah for there they blessed Yahweh there-fore people have called [the] name of the place that [the] valley of Berachah until this day.
27 Hierauf wandten alle Männer von Juda und Jerusalem und Josaphat an ihrer Spitze um, um voller Freude nach Jerusalem zurückzukehren, denn Jahwe hatte sie in betreff ihrer Feinde mit Freude erfüllt.
And they turned back every man of Judah and Jerusalem and Jehoshaphat at head their to return to Jerusalem with joy for he had made rejoice them Yahweh from enemies their.
28 Und so kamen sie nach Jerusalem mit Harfen, Zithern und Trompeten zum Tempel Jahwes.
And they came Jerusalem with lyres and with harps and with trumpets to [the] house of Yahweh.
29 Alle Reiche der Heidenländer aber befiel ein Schrecken Gottes, als sie vernahmen, daß Jahwe selbst mit den Feinden Israels gestritten hatte.
And it was [the] dread of God on all [the] kingdoms of the lands when heard they that he had fought Yahweh with [the] enemies of Israel.
30 Und so herrschte Josaphat in Frieden, und sein Gott verschaffte ihm rings umher Ruhe.
And it was at peace [the] kingdom of Jehoshaphat and he had given rest to him God his from round about.
31 Und Josaphat herrschte über Juda; fünfunddreißig Jahre regierte er zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter aber hieß Asuba, die Tochter Silhis.
And he reigned Jehoshaphat over Judah a son of thirty and five year[s] when became king he and twenty and five year[s] he reigned in Jerusalem and [the] name of mother his [was] Azubah [the] daughter of Shilhi.
32 Und er wandelte auf dem Wege seines Vaters Asa und wich nicht von ihm ab, indem er that, was Jahwe wohlgefiel.
And he walked in [the] way of father his Asa and not he turned aside from it to do the right in [the] eyes of Yahweh.
33 Nur wurden die Höhen nicht abgeschafft, und noch immer hatte das Volk seinen Sinn nicht auf den Gott seiner Väter gerichtet.
Only the high places not they were removed and still the people not they directed heart their to [the] God of ancestors their.
34 Die übrige Geschichte Josaphats aber, die frühere wie die spätere, findet sich aufgezeichnet in der Geschichte Jehus, des Sohnes Hananis, die in das Buch der Könige Israels eingerückt ist.
And [the] rest of [the] matters of Jehoshaphat former and latter there they [are] written in [the] words of Jehu [the] son of Hanani which it was recorded on [the] scroll of [the] kings of Israel.
35 Darnach verbündete sich Josaphat, der König von Juda, mit Ahasja, dem Könige von Israel; derselbe handelte frevelhaft.
And after this he made an alliance Jehoshaphat [the] king of Judah with Ahaziah [the] king of Israel he he acted wickedly to do.
36 Er nahm ihn aber zum Bundesgenossen, um Schiffe für die Fahrt nach Tarsis zu bauen, und so bauten sie Schiffe zu Ezeon-Geber.
And he allied himself with him to make ships to go Tarshish and they made ships in Ezion Geber.
37 Da weissagte Elieser, der Sohn Dodawahus, von Maresa wider Josaphat und sprach: Weil du dich mit Ahasja verbündet hast, wird Jahwe dein Machwerk zertrümmern! Und die Schiffe scheiterten und vermochten nicht, nach Tarsis zu fahren.
And he prophesied Eliezer [the] son of Dodavahu from Mareshah on Jehoshaphat saying as making alliance you with Ahaziah he will break Yahweh works your and they were broken ships and not they retained to go to Tarshish.
