Jesaja 43

1 Nun aber spricht der Herr, dein Schöpfer, Jakob, dein Bildner, Israel: "Sei ohne Furcht! Denn ich erlöse dich. Ich rufe dich beim Namen; du bist mein.

Now, therefore, Thus, saith Yahweh—Creating thee, O Jacob, and Fashioning thee O Israel, —Do not fear, For I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name. Mine, thou art!

2 Wenn du durchs Wasser gehen mußt, bin ich bei dir, durch Ströme, doch sie schwemmen dich nicht fort. Wenn du durchs Feuer gehen mußt, verbrennst du nicht; die Flamme sengt dich nicht.

When thou passest through the waters, with thee, I am, Or, through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee, —When thou walkest through fire, thou shall not be scorched, And, a flame, shall not kindle upon thee;

3 Denn ich, der Herr, ich bin dein Gott, der Heilige Israels dein Retter. Zum Lösegeld für dich geb ich Ägypten hin, für dich auch Äthiopien und Saba.

For, I,—Yahweh, am, Thy God, The Holy One of Israel Ready to save thee, —I have given, as thy ransom, Egypt, Ethiopia and Seba, in thy stead.

4 Weil teuer du in meinen Augen bist und wertgeachtet, mir so lieb, drum gebe ich auch andre Leute für dich hin und andre Völker für dein Leben.

Because thou art precious in mine eyes, art honoured And, I, love thee, —And will give mankind, in thy stead, Yea, peoples, for thy life,

5 Sei ohne Furcht! Ich bin mit dir. Von Osten bring ich dein Geschlecht herbei, von Westen dich zuhauf.

Do not fear for, with thee, I am, —From the East, will I bring in thy seed, And, from the West, will I gather thee:

6 Ich sage zu dem Norden: 'Gib heraus!' Zum Süden: 'Halt sie nicht zurück! Bringt aus der Ferne meine Söhne her und meine Töchter von der Erde Rand!',

I will say to the North Give up! And to the South Do not withhold! Bring in My sons from far, and My daughters from the end of the earth;

7 sie alle, die genannt nach meinem Namen: ich schaffe es um meiner Ehre willen und mache es und führe es auch aus."

Every one who is called by my Name, Whom for mine own glory, I have created—formed—yea, made!

8 "Das Volk! Heraus mit ihm, das blind und dennoch Augen hat, die taub und dennoch Ohren haben!

Bring forth A blind people that have, eyes, and A deaf, that have, ears.

9 Zusammenstehen sollen all die Heidenvölker und die Nationen sich zusammenscharen! Wer kann bei jenen solches melden? Sie sollen Früheres uns hören lassen! Sie sollen ihre Zeugen bringen, daß sie Recht bekommen, auf daß man's höre und dann sage: 'Richtig'!

All the nations, are gathered together Yea there is an assembling of peoples, Who among them, can tell this, And things in advance, can let us hear? Let them set forth their witnesses that they may get their right, Or let them hear, and say Truth!

10 Ihr seid nun meine Zeugen", ein Spruch des Herrn, "mein Knecht, den ich erwählt, daß ihr gewißlich an mich glaubt und merkt, daß ich es bin, daß nicht ein Gott vor mir gebildet ward, und daß es nach mir keinen anderen gibt.

Ye, are my witnesses Declareth Yahweh, And my Servant, whom I have chosen, —That ye may take note—and believe me, And perceive that, I, am He, Before me, was not formed a GOD, Nor after me, shall one come into being:

11 Ich, ich nur bin der Herr, und außer mir gibt's keinen Helfer.

I—I, am Yahweh, —And there is none besides me ready to save:

12 Ich habe es verkündet und alsdann geholfen. Als ich's verkünden ließ, war unter euch kein Fremder. Das müßt ihr mir bezeugen." Ein Spruch des Herrn. "So bin ich also Gott.

I, have told—and will save, and make known, That there is among you no strange one; And, ye, are my witnesses, Declareth Yahweh That, I, am GOD.

13 Von jeher war ich stets derselbe. Aus meiner Hand ist niemand zu erretten. Was ich beginne, wer will's hindern?"

Even from To-day, I, am He, And none, out of my hand, can deliver, —I work and who reverseth?

14 So spricht der Herr, der euch erlöst, der Heilige Israels: "Um euretwillen habe ich nach Babel hingesandt. Die Segelschiffe ließ ich alle sie besteigen und die Chaldäer ihre schnellen Schiffe.

Thus saith Yahweh, Your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel, —For your sakes, have I sent into Babylon, And will bring down as fugitives, all of them, —Even the Chaldeans, in the ships which cause them loud outcry.

15 Ich bin der Herr und euer Heiliger, der Schöpfer Israels und euer König."

I—Yahweh, am Your Holy One, —The Creator of Israel, Your King.

16 So spricht der Herr, der einen Weg gab durch das Meer, durch starke Wasser eine Straße

Thus, saith Yahweh, —Who setteth in the sea, a way, —And in the mighty waters, a path;

17 und Roß und Wagen sie betreten ließ und Heerestroß und Krieger abzumal. - Da liegen sie und stehen nicht mehr auf, erloschen, wie ein Docht verglommen:

Who bringeth forth Chariot and horse, Force and strength, Together, shall they lie down They shall not arise, They are extinguished Like a wick, are they quenched!

18 "Denkt nicht der früheren Taten! Achtet des Vergangenen nicht!

Do not keep in mind former things, —And things of old, do not consider:

19 Ich schaffe etwas Neues. Es keimt schon auf. Merkt ihr es nicht? Ich bahne durch die Wüste einen Weg; ich lasse Ströme fließen durch die Öden.

Behold me! doing a new thing, Now, shall it spring forth, Will ye not take note thereof? Surely I will set In the desert, a way, In a desolate land, rivers:

20 Des Feldes Wild preist mich, Schakale, Strauße, daß in der Wüste Wasser ich jetzt spende und Ströme in den Öden, um mein erkornes Volk zu tränken.

The wild beast of the field shall honour me, Jackals, and ostriches, Because I have given—In the desert, waters, Rivers in, desolate land, To give drink unto my people, my chosen:

21 Das Volk, das ich mir selbst erschaffen, muß meinen Ruhm verkünden.

A people which I have fashioned for myself, My praise, shall they record.

22 Mich hast du, Jakob, nicht gerufen, nicht dich um mich bemüht, du Israel.

Yet not upon me, hast thou called, O Jacob, —For thou hast been wearied of me O Israel:

23 Du brachtest mir kein Lamm zum Opfer; nicht ehrtest du mich je mit deinen Schlachtopfern. Mit Speiseopfern war ich dir nicht lästig, mit Weihrauch nicht beschwerlich.

Thou hast not brought in to me small cattle as thine ascending-offerings, Nor, with thy sacrifices, hast thou honoured me, —I have not oppressed thee with meal-offerings, Nor have I wearied thee with frankincense;

24 Du kauftest nicht für mich um Geld Gewürzrohr und labtest nimmer mich durch deine fetten Schlachtopfer. Wohl aber wurdest du durch deine Sünde mir beschwerlich; durch deine Missetaten fielst du mir zur Last.

Thou hast not bought for me with silver, fragrant calamus, Nor with the fat of thy sacrifices, hast thou sated me, —Thou hast done nothing but oppress me with thy sins, Thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities.

25 Ich selber tilge nur um meinetwillen deine Missetaten, und deiner Sünden denke ich nicht mehr.

I—I, am he that is ready, To wipe out thy transgressions for mine own sake, —And, thy sins, not remember.

26 Verbessere mich nur! Wir wollen miteinander rechten. So bringe irgend etwas vor, damit du recht behaltest!

Put me in mind, Let us enter into judgment at once, —Recount, thou, that thou mayest be justified:

27 Dein erster Vater hat gesündigt, und deine Mittler brachen mir die Treue.

Thy chief father, hath sinned, And thine interpreters, have transgressed against me;

28 Die heiligen Fürsten mußte ich entweihen, dem Banne Jakob überliefern und Israel dem Hohne überlassen."

So then I must needs profane the rulers of the holy place, —And deliver Jacob to be devoted to destruction, and Israel, unto reviling!
