Luc 7
1 Quand il eut achevé tous ces discours adressés au peuple, Jésus entra dans Capharnaüm.
And whanne he hadde fulfillid alle hise wordis in to the eeris of the puple, he entride in to Cafarnaum.
2 Or un centurion avait, malade et près de mourir, un serviteur qui lui était très cher.
But a seruaunt of a centurien, that was precious to hym, was sijk, and drawynge to the deeth.
3 Ayant entendu parler de Jésus, il lui envoya quelques Anciens d'entre les Juifs, pour lui demander de venir et de guérir son serviteur.
And whanne he hadde herd of Jhesu, he sente to hym the eldere men of Jewis, and preiede hym, that he wolde come, and heele his seruaunt.
4 Ceux-ci, ayant abordé Jésus, le prièrent avec de grandes instances: «Il mérite, lui dirent-ils, que tu lui accordes cela,
And whanne thei camen to Jhesu, thei preieden hym bisili, and seiden to hym, For he is worthi, that thou graunte to hym this thing;
5 car il aime notre nation et c'est lui qui nous a bâti la synagogue.»
for he loueth oure folk, and he bildide to vs a synagoge.
6 Jésus était parti avec eux; comme il n'était plus qu'à une o petite distance de la maison, le centurion envoya de ses amis lui dire: «Seigneur, ne prends pas tant de peine, car je ne suis pas digne que tu entres sous mon toit,
And Jhesus wente with hem. And whanne he was not fer fro the hous, the centurien sente to hym freendis, and seide, Lord, nyle thou be trauelid, for Y am not worthi, that thou entre vnder my roof;
7 et c'est pour cela que je ne me suis pas moi-même jugé digne d'aller à toi. Mais donne un ordre et mon serviteur sera guéri.
for which thing and Y demede not my silf worthi, that Y come to thee; but seie thou bi word, and my child schal be helid.
8 Car moi (qui ne suis pourtant qu'un subordonné) j'ai sous mes ordres des soldats, et si je dis à l'un: «Va-t'en», il s'en va; à l'autre: «Viens vient; à mon, esclave: «Fais cela», il le fait.»
For Y am a man ordeyned vndur power, and haue knyytis vndur me; and Y seie to this, Go, and he goith, and to anothir, Come, and he cometh, and to my seruaunt, Do this thing, and he doith.
9 Jésus fut dans l'admiration de ce langage; et se tournant vers la foule qui le suivait: «Je vous le déclare, dit-il, même en Israël, je n'ai pas trouvé une foi aussi grande.»
And whanne this thing was herd, Jhesus wondride; and seide to the puple suynge hym, Treuli Y seie to you, nether in Israel Y foond so greet feith.
10 De retour à la maison, les envoyés du centurion trouvèrent le serviteur en pleine santé.
And thei that weren sent, turneden ayen home, and founden the seruaunt hool, which was sijk.
11 Le lendemain il se dirigea vers une ville appelée Naïn; avec lui allaient un grand nombre de ses disciples et une foule considérable.
And it was don aftirward, Jhesus wente in to a citee, that is clepid Naym, and hise disciplis; and ful greet puple wente with hym.
12 Comme il arrivait à la porte de la cité, il se trouva que l'on portait en terre un mort; c'était un fils unique dont la mère était veuve. Une grande quantité d'habitants de la ville étaient avec elle.
And whanne he cam nyy to the yate of the citee, lo! the sone of a womman that hadde no mo children, was borun out deed; and this was a widowe; and myche puple of the citee with hir.
13 En la voyant, le Seigneur fut touché de compassions envers elle et lui dit: «Ne pleure point!»
And whanne the Lord Jhesu hadde seyn hir, he hadde reuthe on hir, and seide to hir, Nyle thou wepe.
14 Puis il s'approcha et toucha le cercueil. Les porteurs s'arrêtèrent, et il dit: «Jeune homme, je te l'ordonne, lève-toi!»
And he cam nyy, and touchide the beere; and thei that baren stoden. And he seide, Yonge man, Y seie to thee, rise vp.
15 Et le mort se dressa sur son séant et se mit à parler. Jésus le rendit à sa mère.
And he that was deed sat vp ayen, and bigan to speke; and he yaf hym to his modir.
16 La crainte les saisit tous et ils glorifiaient Dieu: «Un grand prophète, disaient-ils, a surgi parmi nous, et Dieu a visité son peuple.»
And drede took alle men, and thei magnyfieden God, and seiden, For a grete profete is rysun among vs, and, For God hath visitid his puple.
17 Le bruit de ce qui s'était passé se répandit partout en Judée et dans tout le pays environnant.
And this word wente out of hym in to al Judee, and in to al the cuntre aboute.
18 Les disciples de Jean ayant rapporté tout cela à leur maître,
And Joones disciplis toolden hym of alle these thingis.
19 celui-ci en désigna deux, et les envoya dire au Seigneur: «Es-tu celui qui doit venir, ou devons-nous en attendre un autre?»
And Joon clepide tweyn of hise disciplis, and sente hem to Jhesu, and seide, Art thou he that is to come, or abiden we anothir?
20 S'étant donc présentés à Jésus, ces hommes lui dirent: «Jean-Baptiste nous a adressés à toi pour te dire: Es-tu celui qui doit venir ou devons-nous en attendre un autre?»
And whanne the men cam to hym, thei seiden, Joon Baptist sente vs to thee, and seide, Art thou he that is to come, or we abiden anothir?
21 Or, en cet instant même, Jésus guérissait nombre de malades, d'infirmes, de possédés; à beaucoup d'aveugles il faisait don de la vue.
And in that our he heelide many men of her sijknessis, and woundis, and yuel spiritis; and he yaf siyt to many blynde men.
22 Alors il fit aux messagers celte réponse: «Allez annoncer à Jean ce que vous avez vu et entendu: des aveugles voient, des estropiés marchent, des lépreux sont guéris, des sourds entendent, des morts ressuscitent, des pauvres entendent l'Évangiles.
And Jhesus answerde, and seide to hem, Go ye ayen, and telle ye to Joon tho thingis that ye han herd and seyn; blynde men seyn, crokid men goen, mesels ben maad cleene, deef men heren, deed men risen ayen, pore men ben takun to prechyng of the gospel.
23 Heureux est celui pour qui je ne serai pas une occasion de chute.»
And he that schal not be sclaundrid in me, is blessid.
24 Quand les messagers furent partis, Jésus se mit à parler de Jean aux multitudes: «Au désert, qu'êtes-vous allés voir? Est-ce un roseau agité par le vent?
And whanne the messangeris of Joon weren go forth, he bigan to seie of Joon to the puple,
25 Qu'êtes-vous allés voir? Est-ce un homme aux vêtements efféminés? Mais ceux qui se revêtent de riches habits et qui vivent au milieu des délices vivent dans les palais des rois.
What wenten ye out in to desert to se? a reed waggid with the wynd?
26 Qu'êtes-vous donc allés voir? Est-ce un prophète? Oui, vous dis-je, et plus qu'un prophète.
But what wenten ye out to se? a man clothid with softe clothis? Lo! thei that ben in precious cloth and in delicis, ben in kyngis housis. But what wenten ye out to se? a profete? Yhe, Y seie to you, and more than a profete.
27 C'est celui dont il est écrit: Voici que j'envoie mon messager pour te précéder Et préparer ton chemin devant toi.
This is he, of whom it is writun, Lo! Y sende myn aungel bifor thi face, which schal make `thi weie redi bifor thee.
28 «Je vous le déclare, parmi ceux que les femmes ont enfantés, nul n'est plus grand que Jean. Mais le plus petit dans le Royaume de Dieu est plus grand que lui.»
Certis Y seie to you, there is no man more prophete among children of wymmen, than is Joon; but he that is lesse in the kyngdom of heuenes, is more than he.
29 «En se faisant baptiser du baptême de Jean, tout le peuple qui l'écoutait, même les publicains ont reconnu la justice de Dieu;
And al the puple herynge, and pupplicans, that hadden be baptisid with baptym of Joon, iustifieden God;
30 mais en ne se faisant pas baptiser par lui, les Pharisiens et les légistes ont rejeté le dessein de Dieu à leur égard.»
but the Farisees and the wise men of the lawe, that weren not baptisid of hym, dispisiden the counsel of God ayens hem silf.
31 «A qui donc assimilerai-je les hommes de cette génération-ci? et à qui ressemblent-ils?
And the Lord seide, Therfor to whom schal Y seie `men of this generacioun lijk, and to whom ben thei lijk?
32 Ils ressemblent à des enfants assis sur la place publique qui se crient les uns aux autres: Nous avons joué de la flûte Et vous n'avez pas dansé; Nous avons entonné des chants lugubres Et vous n'avez pas pleuré.»
Thei ben lijk to children sittynge in chepyng, and spekynge togider, and seiynge, We han sungun to you with pipis, and ye han not daunsid; we han maad mornyng, and ye han not wept.
33 «Et, en effet, Jean-Baptiste est venu s'abstenant de manger du pain et de boire du vin; et vous dites: «Il est possédé d'un démon.»
For Joon Baptist cam, nethir etynge breed, ne drynkynge wyne, and ye seyen, He hath a feend.
34 Le Fils de l'homme est venu mangeant et buvant comme tout le monde, et vous dites: «Voilà un amateur de bonne chère, un buveur de vin, un ami des publicains et des pécheurs.»
Mannus sone cam etynge and drynkynge, and ye seien, Lo! a man a deuourer, and drynkynge wyne, a frend of pupplicans and of synful men.
35 «A la sagesse, justice est rendue par tous ses enfants.»
And wisdom is iustified of her sones.
36 Un des Pharisiens le pria de venir manger chez lui. Jésus, étant donc entré dans la maison du Pharisien, se mit à table.
But oon of the Farisees preiede Jhesu, that he schulde ete with hym. And he entride in to the hous of the Farise, and sat at the mete.
37 Or, une femme de la ville qui vivait dans le péché, ayant appris qu'il était à table dans la maison de ce Pharisien, apporta un vase d'albâtre rempli de parfum.
And lo! a synful womman, that was in the citee, as sche knewe, that Jhesu sat at the mete in the hous of the Farisee, sche brouyte an alabaustre box of oynement;
38 Elle se plaça derrière lui, en pleurant, et se tint à ses pieds, qu'elle arrosa d'abord de ses larmes et qu'elle essuya ensuite de ses cheveux, à ses pieds qu'elle baisa longtemps et qu'elle oignit de son parfum.
and sche stood bihynde bysidis hise feet, and bigan to moiste hise feet with teeris, and wipide with the heeris of hir heed, and kiste hise feet, and anoyntide with oynement.
39 Voyant cela, le Pharisien qui l'avait invité pensait en lui-même: «Si cet homme était prophète, il saurait qui est cette femme qui le touche; et ce qu'elle est: une pécheresse.
And the Farise seynge, that hadde clepide hym, seide within hym silf, seiynge, If this were a prophete, he schulde wite, who and what maner womman it were that touchith hym, for sche is a synful womman.
40 Jésus alors s'adressant à lui: «Simon, j'ai quelque chose à te dire.» — «Parle, maître», répondit Simon.» —
And Jhesus answeride, and seide to hym, Symount, Y haue sumthing to seie to thee. And he seide, Maistir, seie thou.
41 «Un certain créancier avait deux débiteurs; le premier lui devait cinq cents deniers; et le second cinquante.
And he answeride, Twei dettouris weren to o lener; and oon auyt fyue hundrid pans, and `the other fifti;
42 Ni l'un ni l'autre n'ayant de quoi le payer, il fit à chacun d'eux remise de sa dette. Lequel des deux l'aimera le plus?»
but whanne thei hadden not wherof `thei schulden yeelde, he foryaf to bothe. Who thanne loueth hym more?
43 Simon fit cette réponse: «Celui, je suppose, auquel il a remis davantage.» — «Tu viens de juger en toute droiture», reprit Jésus;
Symount answeride, and seide, Y gesse, that he to whom he foryaf more. And he answeride to hym, Thou hast demyd riytli.
44 puis, se tournant vers la femme et parlant toujours à Simon: «Tu vois cette femme? Quand je suis entré dans ta maison tu ne m'as pas apporté d'eau pour mes pieds, mais elle, c'est avec ses larmes qu'elle les a arrosés, c'est avec ses cheveux qu'elle les a essuyés.
And he turnede to the womman, and seide to Symount, Seest thou this womman? I entride into thin hous, thou yaf no watir to my feet; but this hath moistid my feet with teeris, and wipide with hir heeris.
45 Tu ne m'as pas donné de baiser; mais elle, depuis l'instant où elle est entrée n'a cessé d'embrasser mes pieds.
Thou hast not youun to me a cosse; but this, sithen sche entride, ceesside not to kisse my feet.
46 Sur ma tête, tu n'as pas fait d'onction d'huile; mais elle, ce sont mes pieds qu'elle a oints de parfum.
Thou anoyntidist not myn heed with oile; but this anoyntide my feet with oynement.
47 A cause de cela, je te le déclare, ses nombreux péchés lui sont pardonnés, parce qu'elle a beaucoup aimé. Celui à qui on pardonne peu, aime peu.»
For the which thing Y seie to thee, many synnes ben foryouun to hir, for sche hath loued myche; and to whom is lesse foryouun, he loueth lesse.
48 Puis il lui dit à elle: «Tes péchés te sont pardonnés.» —
And Jhesus seide to hir, Thi synnes ben foryouun to thee.
49 «Qui est cet homme qui va jusqu'à pardonner des péchés?» se demandèrent entre eux les convives.
And thei that saten to gider at the mete, bigunnen to seie with ynne hem silf, Who is this that foryyueth synnes.
50 Lui, cependant, dit à la femme: «Ta foi t'a sauvée; va en paix!»
But he seide to the womman, Thi feith hath maad thee saaf; go thou in pees.
