Luc 4
1 Jésus, rempli de l'Esprit saint, revint des bords du Jourdain; l'Esprit le poussait au désert.
And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, turned back from the Jordan, and was brought in the Spirit to the wilderness,
2 Il y passa quarante jours; il était tenté par le diable. Durant ces quarante jours, il ne mangea rien, et quand ils furent achevés, il eut faim.
forty days being tempted by the Devil, and he did not eat anything in those days, and they having been ended, he afterward hungered,
3 Le diable lui dit: «Si tu es Fils de Dieu, dis à cette pierre de se changer en pain»;
and the Devil said to him, 'If Son thou art of God, speak to this stone that it may become bread.'
4 et, Jésus lui répondit: «Il est écrit: «Ce n'est pas de pain seulement que vivra l'homme.»
And Jesus answered him, saying, 'It hath been written, that, not on bread only shall man live, but on every saying of God.'
5 Puis le diable l'emmena, et lui montrant en un instant tous les royaumes de la terre:
And the Devil having brought him up to an high mountain, shewed to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time,
6 «Je te donnerai, lui dit-il, toute cette puissance et la gloire de ces royaumes, car elfe m'a été livrée, et je la donne à qui je veux.
and the Devil said to him, 'To thee I will give all this authority, and their glory, because to me it hath been delivered, and to whomsoever I will, I do give it;
7 Donc, prosterne-toi en adoration devant moi et tout cela est à toi.»
thou, then, if thou mayest bow before me — all shall be thine.'
8 Et Jésus lui fit cette réponse: «Il est écrit: «Tu adoreras le Seigneur ton Dieu et c'est à lui seul que tu rendras un culte.»
And Jesus answering him said, 'Get thee behind me, Adversary, for it hath been written, Thou shalt bow before the Lord thy God, and Him only thou shalt serve.'
9 Le menant à Jérusalem, le diable le plaça sur le faîte du Temple et lui dit: «Si tu es Fils de Dieu, jette-toi d'ici en bas,
And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, 'If the Son thou art of God, cast thyself down hence,
10 car il est écrit: «A ses anges il donnera l'ordre de te garder
for it hath been written — To His messengers He will give charge concerning thee, to guard over thee,
11 Et de te soutenir de leurs mains, De peur que ton pied ne se heurte contre une pierre.»
and — On hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou mayest dash against a stone thy foot.'
12 Jésus lui répondit par ces mots: «Il est dit: «Tu ne tenteras point le Seigneur ton Dieu.»
And Jesus answering said to him — 'It hath been said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.'
13 Toute espèce de tentation étant achevée, te diable s'éloigna de lai, jusqu'à une autre occasion.
And having ended all temptation, the Devil departed from him till a convenient season.
14 Puissant par l'Esprit, Jésus retourna en Galilée; sa renommée se répandit dans toute la contrée;
And Jesus turned back in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and a fame went forth through all the region round about concerning him,
15 il enseignait dans les synagogues du pays et tous célébraient ses louanges.
and he was teaching in their synagogues, being glorified by all.
16 Étant allé à Nazareth, où il avait été élevé, il entra dans la synagogue le jour du sabbat, selon sa coutume, et il se leva pour faire la lecture.
And he came to Nazareth, where he hath been brought up, and he went in, according to his custom, on the sabbath-day, to the synagogue, and stood up to read;
17 On lui présenta le livre du prophète Ésaïe. Il l'ouvrit et trouva un passage où il était écrit:
and there was given over to him a roll of Isaiah the prophet, and having unfolded the roll, he found the place where it hath been written:
18 «L'Esprit du Seigneur est sur moi; m'a consacré par son onction pour annoncer l'Évangile aux pauvres, Il m'a envoyé pour annoncer aux captifs leur délivrance, Aux aveugles qu'ils vont recevoir la vue, Pour renvoyer les opprimés affranchis,
'The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, Because He did anoint me; To proclaim good news to the poor, Sent me to heal the broken of heart, To proclaim to captives deliverance, And to blind receiving of sight, To send away the bruised with deliverance,
19 Pour annoncer une année de faveur de la part du Seigneur.
To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.'
20 Il ferma le livre, le rendit au servant et s'assit. Tout le monde, dans la synagogue, avait les yeux fixés sur lui.
And having folded the roll, having given [it] back to the officer, he sat down, and the eyes of all in the synagogue were gazing on him.
21 Il commença ainsi: «Aujourd'hui s'accomplit ce passage de l'Écriture que vous venez d'entendre...»
And he began to say unto them — 'To-day hath this writing been fulfilled in your ears;'
22 Tous lui rendaient témoignage et étaient ravis des paroles de grâce qui sortaient de sa bouche. «N'est-ce pas là, disait-on, le fils de Joseph?» —
and all were bearing testimony to him, and were wondering at the gracious words that are coming forth out of his mouth, and they said, 'Is not this the son of Joseph?'
23 «Vous irez jusqu'à m'appliquer ce proverbe, reprit-il: Médecin, guéris-toi toi-même. Tout ce que tu as fait à Capharnaüm et dont nous avons entendu parler, fais-le donc également ici même dans ta patrie.»
And he said unto them, 'Certainly ye will say to me this simile, Physician, heal thyself; as great things as we heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country;'
24 Puis il ajouta: «Je vous le dis en vérité, nul prophète n'est accepté dans sa patrie.
and he said, 'Verily I say to you — No prophet is accepted in his own country;
25 Il y avait, aux jours d'Élie, ce que je vous dis là est la vérité, beaucoup de veuves en Israël, lorsque le ciel fut fermé pendant trois ans et demi, et qu'il y eut une grande famine sur toute la terre;
and of a truth I say to you, Many widows were in the days of Elijah, in Israel, when the heaven was shut for three years and six months, when great famine came on all the land,
26 et cependant Élie ne fut envoyé à aucune d'elles, mais bien à une veuve de Sarepta, dans le pays de Sidon.
and unto none of them was Elijah sent, but — to Sarepta of Sidon, unto a woman, a widow;
27 Il y avait aussi, en Israël, beaucoup de lépreux au temps du prophète Élisée, et cependant aucun d'eux ne fut guéri. Celui qui fut guéri ce fut un Syrien: Naaman.»
and many lepers were in the time of Elisha the prophet, in Israel, and none of them was cleansed, but — Naaman the Syrian.'
28 Ces paroles remplirent de colère tous ceux qui étaient dans la synagogue.
And all in the synagogue were filled with wrath, hearing these things,
29 Ils se levèrent et ils le chassèrent hors de la cité; puis ils le menèrent jusqu'au sommet de la montagne sur laquelle leur ville avait été bâtie, pour le jeter en bas.
and having risen, they put him forth without the city, and brought him unto the brow of the hill on which their city had been built — to cast him down headlong,
30 Mais lui, passant au, milieu d'eux, s'en alla
and he, having gone through the midst of them, went away.
31 et descendit à Capharnaüm, ville de Galilée. Il y enseignait aux jours de sabbat.
And he came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and was teaching them on the sabbaths,
32 Et ils étaient extrêmement frappés de son enseignement, car sa parole était pleine d'autorité
and they were astonished at his teaching, because his word was with authority.
33 Dans la synagogue il y avait un homme possédé de l'Esprit d'un démon impur. Il se mit à jeter de grands cris:
And in the synagogue was a man, having a spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a great voice,
34 «Ah! qu'y a-t-il entre nous et toi, Jésus de Nazareth? Tu es venu pour nous perdre; je sais qui tu es: le Saint de Dieu!»
saying, 'Away, what — to us and to thee, Jesus, O Nazarene? thou didst come to destroy us; I have known thee who thou art — the Holy One of God.'
35 Jésus alors le menaça: «Tais-toi, dit-il, sors de cet homme!» Le renversant par terre au milieu de l'assemblée, le démon sortit de lui sans lui faire aucun mal.
And Jesus did rebuke him, saying, 'Be silenced, and come forth out of him;' and the demon having cast him into the midst, came forth from him, having hurt him nought;
36 Tous furent terrifiés, et ils se parlaient les uns aux autres: «Qu'est-ce donc, disaient-ils, que cette parole? Il commande avec autorité et puissance aux Esprits impurs, et ils sortent!»
and amazement came upon all, and they were speaking together, with one another, saying, 'What [is] this word, that with authority and power he doth command the unclean spirits, and they come forth?'
37 Dans tout le pays environnant il n'était bruit que de lui.
and there was going forth a fame concerning him to every place of the region round about.
38 En sortant de la synagogue, il entra dans la maison de Simon. Or, la belle-mère de Simon était malade d'une forte fièvre. On implora Jésus en sa faveur.
And having risen out of the synagogue, he entered into the house of Simon, and the mother-in-law of Simon was pressed with a great fever, and they did ask him about her,
39 Il se pencha vers elle, commanda à la fièvre, et la fièvre disparut. Immédiatement cette femme se leva et se mit à les servir.
and having stood over her, he rebuked the fever, and it left her, and presently, having risen, she was ministering to them.
40 Après le coucher du soleil, tous ceux qui avaient des malades, quels que fussent leurs maux, les lui amenèrent. Imposant les mains à chacun d'eux, Jésus les guérit.
And at the setting of the sun, all, as many as had any ailing with manifold sicknesses, brought them unto him, and he on each one of them [his] hands having put, did heal them.
41 Des démons sortaient aussi d'un grand nombre, en s'écriant: «Tu es le Fils de Dieu!» Mais il les menaçait et leur défendait de parler ainsi; car ils savaient qu'il était le Christ.
And demons also were coming forth from many, crying out and saying — 'Thou art the Christ, the Son of God;' and rebuking, he did not suffer them to speak, because they knew him to be the Christ.
42 Lorsqu'il fit jour, il sortit et s'en alla dans un lieu solitaire. Les multitudes se mirent à sa recherche; elles arrivèrent jusqu'à, lui et elles le retenaient, ne voulant point qu'il les quittât.
And day having come, having gone forth, he went on to a desert place, and the multitudes were seeking him, and they came unto him, and were staying him — not to go on from them,
43 Mais il leur dit: «Il me faut annoncer dans d'autres villes aussi l'Évangile du Royaume de Dieu, car c'est pour cela que j'ai été envoyé.»
and he said unto them — 'Also to the other cities it behoveth me to proclaim good news of the reign of God, because for this I have been sent;'
44 Et il prêchait dans les synagogues de la Galilée.
and he was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.
