Psaumes 51
1 Au maître chantre. Cantique de David, quand Nathan, le prophète, vint vers lui, après que David se fut approché de Bathséba. Fais-moi grâce, ô Dieu, selon ta miséricorde, selon tes grandes compassions, efface mes péchés!
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bath-sheba. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2 Lave, lave encore, et enlève mon crime, et purifie-moi de mon péché!
Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3 Car je connais ma faute, et mon péché est toujours en face de moi.
For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin [is] ever before me.
4 Contre toi, toi seul, j'ai péché, et j'ai fait ce qui est mal à tes yeux… [Je l'avoue] afin que ta justice ressorte, quand tu prononces, et ta pureté, quand tu juges.
Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done [this] evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, [and] be clear when thou judgest.
5 Voici, je naquis en péché, et en iniquité ma mère me conçut.
Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6 Voici, tu aimes la vérité dans le cœur: fais-moi donc intérieurement connaître la sagesse!
Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden [part] thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
7 Avec l'hysope fais sur moi l'expiation, afin que je devienne pur! lave-moi, pour que je sois plus blanc que la neige!
Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Annonce-moi l'allégresse et la joie! fais tressaillir mes os que tu as brisés!
Make me to hear joy and gladness; [that] the bones [which] thou hast broken may rejoice.
9 Cache-toi la face devant mes péchés, et efface toutes mes fautes!
Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
10 Crée en moi un cœur pur, ô Dieu! et mets en moi un esprit ferme et nouveau!
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Ne me bannis pas de ta présence, et ne me retire pas ton Esprit Saint!
Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12 Rends-moi les délices de ton secours, et d'un esprit prompt à bien faire donne-moi l'appui!
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me [with thy] free spirit.
13 Alors aux pécheurs je montrerai tes voies, et ceux qui s'écartent, reviendront à toi.
[Then] will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
14 Décharge-moi du sang versé, ô Dieu, mon Dieu Sauveur, afin que ma langue chante ta grâce!
Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: [and] my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
15 Seigneur, ouvre mes lèvres, et ma bouche publiera tes louanges.
O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.
16 Car tu n'aimes pas les sacrifices, sinon j'en offrirais; les holocaustes ne te sont point agréables.
For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give [it: ] thou delightest not in burnt offering.
17 Le sacrifice que Dieu veut, c'est un esprit contrit; un cœur contrit et brisé, de toi, ô Dieu, n'est point dédaigné,
The sacrifices of God [are] a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
18 Sois par ta faveur le bienfaiteur de Sion, édifie les murs de Jérusalem!
Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Alors tu agréeras les pieux sacrifices, les holocaustes et les victimes entières, car sur ton autel on offrira des taureaux.
Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.
