Psaumes 21
1 Au maître chantre. Cantique de David. Éternel, ta puissance donne au Roi de la joie, et comme ton secours le transporte!
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!
2 Tu as satisfait au désir de son cœur, et tu n'as point rebuté la prière de ses lèvres. (Pause)
Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. (Selah)
3 Tu lui as présenté des biens excellents, et tu as mis sur sa tête un diadème d'or.
For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head.
4 Il te demandait la vie; tu la lui as donnée, une vie longue, permanente, éternelle.
He asked life of thee, [and] thou gavest [it] him, [even] length of days for ever and ever.
5 Sa gloire est grande, grâce à ton secours, et tu lui accordes splendeur et majesté;
His glory [is] great in thy salvation: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him.
6 car tu le rends béni éternellement, tu le réjouis du bonheur de ta présence.
For thou hast made him most blessed for ever: thou hast made him exceeding glad with thy countenance.
7 Car le Roi se confie en l'Éternel, et, par la faveur du Très-haut, il n'est point ébranlé.
For the king trusteth in the LORD, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.
8 Ta main saura trouver tous tes ennemis, et ta droite trouvera ceux qui te sont hostiles.
Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies: thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee.
9 Tu les rendras pareils à une fournaise ardente, dès que tu te montreras; l'Éternel dans son courroux les détruira, et ils seront consumés par le feu;
Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the LORD shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.
10 de la terre tu extermineras leur fruit, et leur race, d'entre les fils des hommes;
Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.
11 parce qu'ils ourdirent contre toi les trames de la malice, et formèrent des complots: ils seront impuissants;
For they intended evil against thee: they imagined a mischievous device, [which] they are not able [to perform].
12 car tu leur feras prendre la fuite, et tu dirigeras ton arc contre leurs faces.
Therefore shalt thou make them turn their back, [when] thou shalt make ready [thine arrows] upon thy strings against the face of them.
13 Lève-toi, Éternel, avec ta puissance! Nous voulons chanter et célébrer tes hauts faits.
Be thou exalted, LORD, in thine own strength: [so] will we sing and praise thy power.
