Proverbes 7
1 Mon fils, conserve mes paroles, et serre mes préceptes dans ton cœur!
My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
2 Conserve mes préceptes, pour avoir la vie, et mes leçons, comme la prunelle de tes yeux:
Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
3 attache-les à tes doigts, écris-les sur les tablettes de ton cœur!
Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.
4 Dis à la sagesse: Tu es ma sœur! et appelle la prudence ton amie intime!
Say unto wisdom, Thou [art] my sister; and call understanding [thy] kinswoman:
5 pour qu'elle te garde de la femme d'autrui, de l'étrangère dont la langue est flatteuse.
That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger [which] flattereth with her words.
6 Car, étant à la fenêtre de ma maison, je regardais à travers mes jalousies:
For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,
7 et je vis parmi les inconsidérés, je remarquai entre les fils un jeune homme sans raison.
And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,
8 Il passait dans la rue près de l'angle où elle se tenait. et il prenait le chemin de sa demeure:
Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,
9 c'était au crépuscule, au déclin du jour, quand la nuit est noire et obscure.
In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:
10 Et voici, une femme vint au devant de lui ayant la mise d'une courtisane, et possédant son cœur,
And, behold, there met him a woman [with] the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.
11 elle était agitée, et sans frein; ses pieds ne se tenaient point dans sa maison;
(She [is] loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:
12 tantôt dans la rue, tantôt dans les places, elle était aux aguets près de tous les angles.
Now [is she] without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)
13 Et elle le saisit et l'embrassa, et d'un air effronté lui dit:
So she caught him, and kissed him, [and] with an impudent face said unto him,
14 « Je devais un sacrifice d'actions de grâces, aujourd'hui j'ai acquitté mon vœu.
[I have] peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.
15 C'est pourquoi je suis sortie au devant de toi, pour chercher ton visage, et je t'ai trouvé.
Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.
16 Sur mon lit j'ai étendu des couvertures, des tapis diaprés de lin d'Egypte;
I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved [works], with fine linen of Egypt.
17 j'ai répandu sur ma couche la myrrhe, l'aloès et le cinnamome.
I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
18 Viens, enivrons-nous d'amour jusqu'au matin, et délectons-nous par des caresses!
Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.
19 Car mon mari n'est pas au logis, il voyage au loin;
For the goodman [is] not at home, he is gone a long journey:
20 il a pris avec lui la bourse de l'argent; il revient à la maison le jour de la pleine lune! »
He hath taken a bag of money with him, [and] will come home at the day appointed.
21 Elle le séduisit par tous ses discours, et l'entraîna par le doux langage de ses lèvres.
With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.
22 Il la suit soudain, comme le bœuf va à la tuerie, comme les chaînes [que traîne] le fou qu'on châtie,
He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;
23 jusqu'à ce qu'une flèche lui perce le foie; comme l'oiseau qui se précipite dans les lacs, ignorant qu'ils menacent sa vie.
Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it [is] for his life.
24 Or maintenant, mes fils, écoutez-moi, et soyez attentifs aux paroles de ma bouche!
Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.
25 Ne laisse pas ton cœur incliner vers sa voie, et ne t'égare pas dans ses sentiers!
Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.
26 Car elle en a percé et fait tomber plusieurs, et ils sont nombreux tous ceux qu'elle a tués.
For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong [men] have been slain by her.
