Josué 16

1 Et le sort fit échoir aux fils de Joseph leur lot à partir du Jourdain près de Jéricho; des eaux de Jéricho à l'orient le désert qui de Jéricho va s'élevant à la montagne de Béthel;

And the lot of the children of Joseph fell from Jordan by Jericho, unto the water of Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goeth up from Jericho throughout mount Beth-el,

2 puis à partir de Béthel la limite courait vers Luz et continuait jusqu'au territoire des Archites, à Ataroth,

And goeth out from Beth-el to Luz, and passeth along unto the borders of Archi to Ataroth,

3 ensuite elle descendait à l'occident vers le territoire des Japhlétites jusqu'à la frontière de Beth-Horon, la basse, et à Gézer pour aboutir à la mer.

And goeth down westward to the coast of Japhleti, unto the coast of Beth-horon the nether, and to Gezer: and the goings out thereof are at the sea.

4 C'est ce dont furent mis en possession les fils de Joseph, Manassé et Ephraïm.

So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.

5 Et la frontière des fils d'Ephraïm, selon leurs familles, la limite de leur lot était, du côté de l'orient, Ataroth-Addar jusqu'à Beth-Horon, la haute.

And the border of the children of Ephraim according to their families was [thus: ] even the border of their inheritance on the east side was Ataroth-addar, unto Beth-horon the upper;

6 Et la frontière courait à l'occident vers Michmethath, au nord, puis tournait à l'orient vers Thaenath-Silo, qu'elle longeait à l'orient jusqu'à Janoha,

And the border went out toward the sea to Michmethah on the north side; and the border went about eastward unto Taanath-shiloh, and passed by it on the east to Janohah;

7 ensuite de Janoha elle descendait à Ataroth et Naaratha pour toucher à Jéricho et aboutir au Jourdain.

And it went down from Janohah to Ataroth, and to Naarath, and came to Jericho, and went out at Jordan.

8 De Thappuah la frontière allait vers l'occident à Nahal-Kana (rivière des joncs) pour aboutir à la mer.

The border went out from Tappuah westward unto the river Kanah; and the goings out thereof were at the sea. This [is] the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim by their families.

9 Tel est le lot de la Tribu des fils d'Ephraïm selon leurs familles, [plus] les villes réservées pour les fils d'Ephraïm et enclavées dans le lot des fils de Manassé, toutes ces villes avec leurs villages.

And the separate cities for the children of Ephraim [were] among the inheritance of the children of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages.

10 Et ils ne dépossédèrent point les Cananéens habitant Gézer; dès là les Cananéens sont demeurés au milieu d'Ephraïm jusqu'aujourd'hui et ont été soumis à la corvée.

And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day, and serve under tribute.
