Ézéchiel 1
1 La trentième année, le quatrième mois, le cinquième jour du mois, comme j'étais parmi les captifs près du fleuve Chébar, les Cieux s'ouvrirent, et je vis des visions de Dieu.
Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth [month], in the fifth [day] of the month, as I [was] among the captives by the river of Chebar, [that] the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.
2 Le cinquième jour du mois (c'était la cinquième année de la captivité du roi Jéhojachin),
In the fifth [day] of the month, which [was] the fifth year of king Jehoiachin’s captivity,
3 la parole de l'Éternel fut adressée à Ézéchiel, fils de Buzi, le sacrificateur, dans le pays des Chaldéens, près du fleuve Chébar; et là, la main de l'Éternel fut sur lui.
The word of the LORD came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of the LORD was there upon him.
4 Et je regardai, et voici, du nord arrivait un tourbillon, une grande nuée et un globe de feu; et une splendeur l'environnait, et de son centre, du centre du feu, sortait comme l'éclat de l'airain.
And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness [was] about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.
5 Et de son centre sortait une forme de quatre animaux; et tel était leur aspect: ils avaient une figure humaine.
Also out of the midst thereof [came] the likeness of four living creatures. And this [was] their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.
6 Et chacun d'eux avait quatre faces, et chacun d'eux avait quatre ailes.
And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.
7 Et leurs pieds étaient droits, et la plante de leurs pieds avait la forme du pied d'un veau, et ils brillaient comme l'éclat de l'airain poli.
And their feet [were] straight feet; and the sole of their feet [was] like the sole of a calf’s foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass.
8 Et ils avaient par-dessous leurs ailes des mains d'homme, à chacun de leurs quatre côtés; et tous quatre ils avaient leurs visages et leurs ailes.
And [they had] the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings.
9 Leurs ailes étaient attachées l'une à l'autre; ils ne se tournaient point en se mettant en marche, mais ils suivaient chacun la direction de leurs faces.
Their wings [were] joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.
10 [Par devant] leurs faces avaient la figure de la face d'un homme, et à droite la figure de celle d'un lion pour tous les quatre, et à gauche la figure de celle d'un bœuf pour tous les quatre, et [par derrière] celle d'un aigle pour tous les quatre.
As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.
11 Et en haut leurs faces et leurs ailes étaient séparées; deux ailes des uns étaient attachées aux ailes des autres, et deux couvraient leurs corps.
Thus [were] their faces: and their wings [were] stretched upward; two [wings] of every one [were] joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.
12 Or ils allaient chacun dans la direction de leurs faces; ils allaient où l'esprit les poussait à aller, et ne se tournaient point dans leur marche.
And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; [and] they turned not when they went.
13 Et l'aspect de ces animaux ressemblait à des charbons de feu brûlants; c'était comme l'aspect des flambeaux, et ce feu circulait entre les animaux, et répandait de l'éclat, et du feu sortaient des éclairs.
As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance [was] like burning coals of fire, [and] like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.
14 Et les animaux couraient et revenaient tels qu'on voit la foudre.
And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.
15 Comme je regardais les animaux, voici, il y avait une roue sur la terre près des animaux à leurs quatre côtés.
Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces.
16 L'aspect des roues et leur structure étaient ceux de la pierre de Tarsis; et la forme de l'une était celle des quatre; et leur aspect et leur structure étaient comme si une roue passait par le milieu de l'autre roue.
The appearance of the wheels and their work [was] like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work [was] as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.
17 Dans leur marche elles cheminaient de leurs quatre côtés, et ne se tournaient point dans leur marche.
When they went, they went upon their four sides: [and] they turned not when they went.
18 Et leurs jantes étaient hautes et formidables, et leurs jantes étaient remplies d'yeux de toutes parts à toutes quatre.
As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings [were] full of eyes round about them four.
19 Quand les animaux marchaient, les roues cheminaient aussi à côté d'eux, et quand les animaux s'élevaient de terre, les roues s'élevaient aussi.
And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by them: and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.
20 Au lieu où l'esprit les poussait à aller, ils y allaient, là où l'esprit les poussait à aller; et les roues s'élevaient avec eux, car l'esprit des animaux était dans les roues.
Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went, thither [was their] spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature [was] in the wheels.
21 Quand ils allaient, elles allaient; et quand ils s'arrêtaient, elles s'arrêtaient; et quand ils s'élevaient de terre, les roues s'élevaient aussi avec eux, car l'esprit des animaux était dans les roues.
When those went, [these] went; and when those stood, [these] stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature [was] in the wheels.
22 Et au-dessus des têtes des animaux était comme un firmament qui avait l'air d'un cristal merveilleux, étendu sur leurs têtes dans le haut.
And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature [was] as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.
23 Et sous le firmament étaient leurs ailes dirigées l'une contre l'autre; chacun en avait deux qui de chaque côté couvraient leur corps.
And under the firmament [were] their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and every one had two, which covered on that side, their bodies.
24 Et j'entendis le bruit de leurs ailes pareil au bruit de grandes eaux, pareil à la voix du Tout-Puissant, quand ils marchaient, tumulte pareil au bruit d'un camp; quand ils s'arrêtaient, ils laissaient retomber leurs ailes.
And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings.
25 Et une voix retentissait au-dessus du firmament qui était sur leur tête; quand ils s'arrêtaient, ils laissaient retomber leurs ailes.
And there was a voice from the firmament that [was] over their heads, when they stood, [and] had let down their wings.
26 Et au-dessus du firmament posé sur leur tête était une forme de trône, qui avait l'aspect du saphir, et sur la forme de trône était une figure ayant l'air d'un homme placé dessus en haut.
And above the firmament that [was] over their heads [was] the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne [was] the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.
27 Et au dedans et autour je vis comme le brillant de l'airain, comme l'aspect du feu; en regardant de ses reins en haut et en regardant de ses reins en bas, je vis comme l'aspect du feu, et une splendeur l'environnait.
And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.
28 Tel l'aspect de l'arc qui est dans la nue au jour de la pluie, tel était l'aspect de la splendeur qui l'environnait. C'était l'aspect de l'image de la gloire de l'Éternel. Et je regardai et tombai sur ma face, et j'entendis la voix de quelqu'un qui parlait.
As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so [was] the appearance of the brightness round about. This [was] the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw [it], I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.
