Psaumes 53

1 Jusqu'à la Fin, sur Maeleth. Une instruction de David. L'insensé a dit en son cœur: Il n'y a point de Dieu. Ils se sont corrompus; ils sont devenus abominables en iniquités, et il n'en est pas qui fasse le bien.

To the Chief Musician. On Mahalath. A Psalm of Instruction, of David. The impious hath said in his heart, There is no God! They have acted corruptly, They have wrought abominable perversity, There is none that doeth good: —

2 Dieu, du haut du ciel, s'est penché vers les fils des hommes, pour voir s'il en est qui comprenne ou cherche Dieu.

God, out of the heavens, looked down upon the sons of men, —To see whether there was one that showed wisdom, Enquiring after God.

3 Tous ont dévié, et en même temps ils sont devenus inutiles; il n'en est pas qui fasse le bien, pas un seul.

They all, have turned back, together have they become tainted, —There is none that doeth good, Not so much as, one!

4 Nul ne sera-t-il instruit parmi ces ouvriers d'iniquité qui dévorent mon peuple comme du pain?

Are the workers of iniquity, without knowledge? Devouring my people, [as] they devour food? Upon God, have they not called.

5 Ils n'ont point invoqué Dieu, et ils ont tremblé de peur là où il n'y avait rien à craindre. Mais Dieu a dispersé les os de ceux qui ne veulent plaire qu'aux hommes. Ils ont été confondus, parce que Dieu les a anéantis.

There have they been in great dread where no dread was, Because, God, hath scattered the bones of thy besieger, —Thou hast put [him] to shame, Because, God, had, rejected, them.

6 Qui fera sortir de Sion le salut d'Israël? Quand le Seigneur aura ramené son peuple de la captivité, Jacob tressaillira d'allégresse, et Israël sera dans la joie.

Oh that, out of Zion, were granted the salvations of Israel! When God bringeth back the captives of his people, Jacob, shall exult, Israel, shall be glad.
