1 Après cela, il y eut une fête des Juifs, et Jésus monta à Jérusalem.
After that ther was a feast of the Iewes and Iesus went vp to Ierusalem.
2 Or, à Jérusalem, près de la porte des Brebis, il y a une piscine qui s'appelle en hébreu Béthesda, et qui a cinq portiques.
And ther is at Ierusalem by ye slaughterhousse a pole called in ye Ebrue toge Bethseda havinge five porches
3 Sous ces portiques étaient couchés un grand nombre de malades, d'aveugles, de boiteux et de paralytiques; [ils attendaient le bouillonnement de l'eau.
in which laye a greate multitude of sicke folke of blinde halt and wyddered waytinge for the movinge of the water.
4 Car un ange du Seigneur descendait à certains temps dans la piscine, et agitait l'eau: et celui qui y descendait le premier après l'agitation de l'eau, était guéri de son infirmité quelle qu'elle fût.]
For an angell wet doune at a certayne ceason into ye pole and troubled ye water. Whosoever then fyrst after the steringe of the water stepped in was made whoale of what soever disease he had.
5 Là se trouvait un homme malade depuis trente-huit ans.
And a certayne ma was theare which had bene diseased. xxxviii. yeares
6 Jésus l'ayant vu gisant, et sachant qu'il était malade depuis longtemps, lui dit: " Veux-tu être guéri? "
When Iesus sawe him lye and knewe that he now longe tyme had bene diseased he sayde vnto him. Wilt thou be made whoale?
7 Le malade lui répondit: " Seigneur, je n'ai personne pour me jeter dans la piscine dès que l'eau est agitée, et pendant que j'y vais, un autre descend avant moi. "
The sicke answered him: Syr I have no man whe the water is troubled to put me into the pole. But in the meane tyme whill I am about to come another steppeth doune before me.
8 Jésus lui dit: " Lève-toi, prends ton grabat et marche. "
And Iesus sayde vnto him: ryse take vp thy beed and walke.
9 Et à l'instant cet homme fut guéri; il prit son grabat et se mit à marcher. C'était un jour de sabbat.
And immediatly the man was made whole and toke vp his beed and went. And the same daye was the Saboth daye
10 Les Juifs dirent donc à celui qui avait été guéri: " C'est le sabbat, il ne t'est pas permis d'emporter ton grabat. "
The Iewes therfore sayde vnto him that was made whole. It is ye Saboth daye it is not laufull for the to cary thy beed
11 Il leur répondit: " Celui qui m'a guéri m'a dit: Prends ton grabat et marche. "
He answered them: he that made me whole sayde vnto me: take vp thy beed and get the hence.
12 Ils lui demandèrent: " Qui est l'homme qui t'a dit: Prends ton grabat et marche? "
Then axed they him: what man is that which sayde vnto the take vp thy beed and walke.
13 Mais celui qui avait été guéri ne savait pas qui c'était; car Jésus s'était esquivé, grâce à la foule qui était en cet endroit.
And he yt was healed wist not who it was. For Iesus had gotte him selfe awaye be cause yt ther was preace of people in ye place.
14 Plus tard, Jésus le trouva dans le temple et lui dit: " Te voilà guéri; ne pèche plus, de peur qu'il ne t'arrive quelque chose de pire. "
And after that Iesus founde him in the teple and sayd vnto him: beholde thou arte made whole synne no moore lest a worsse thinge happe vnto the.
15 Cet homme s'en alla, et annonça aux Juifs que c'était Jésus qui l'avait guéri.
The man departed and tolde ye Iewes that yt was Iesus whiche had made him whole.
16 C'est pourquoi les Juifs persécutaient Jésus, parce qu'il faisait ces choses le jour du sabbat.
And therfore the Iewes dyd persecute Iesus and sought the meanes to slee him because he had done these thinges on the Saboth daye.
17 Mais Jésus leur dit: " Mon Père agit jusqu'à présent, et moi aussi j'agis. "
And Iesus answered them: my father worketh hidder to and I worke.
18 Sur quoi, les Juifs cherchaient encore avec plus d'ardeur à le faire mourir, parce que, non content de violer le sabbat, il disait encore que Dieu était son père, se faisant égal à Dieu. Jésus reprit donc la parole et leur dit:
Therfore the Iewes sought the moare to kill him not only because he had broken the Saboth: but sayde also that God was his father and made him selfe equall with God.
19 " En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, le Fils ne peut rien faire de lui-même, mais seulement ce qu'il voit faire au Père; et tout ce que fait le Père, le Fils aussi le fait pareillement.
Then answered Iesus and sayde vnto them: verely verely I saye vnto you: the sonne can do no thinge of him selfe but that he seeth ye father do. For whatsoever he doeth yt doeth the sonne also.
20 Car le Père aime le Fils, et lui montre tout ce qu'il fait; et il lui montrera des œuvres plus grandes que celles-ci, qui vous jetteront dans l'étonnement.
For the father loveth ye sonne and sheweth him all thinges whatsoever he him selfe doeth. And he will shewe him greter workes then these because ye shoulde marvayle.
21 Car, comme le Père ressuscite les morts et donne la vie, aussi le Fils donne la vie à qui il veut.
For lykwyse as the father rayseth vp ye deed and quickeneth them even so the sonne quyckeneth whom he will.
22 Le Père même ne juge personne, mais il a donné au Fils le jugement tout entier,
Nether iudgeth ye father eny ma: but hath comitted all iudgemet vnto the sonne
23 afin que tous honorent le Fils comme ils honorent le Père. Celui qui n'honore pas le Fils n'honore pas le Père qui l'a envoyé.
because that all men shuld honoure the sonne eve as they honoure the father. He that honoureth not ye sonne the same honoureth not the father which hath sent him.
24 En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, celui qui écoute ma parole et croit à celui qui m'a envoyé a la vie éternelle, et n'encourt point la condamnation, mais il est passé de la mort à la vie. (aiōnios g166)
Verely verely I saye vnto you: He that heareth my wordes and beleveth on him that sent me hath everlastinge lyfe and shall not come into damnacion: but is scaped fro deth vnto lyfe. (aiōnios g166)
25 En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, l'heure vient, et elle est déjà venue, où les morts entendront la voix du Fils de Dieu, et ceux qui l'auront entendue vivront.
Verely verely I saye vnto you: the tyme shall come and now is when the deed shall heare the voyce of the sonne of God. And they yt heare shall live.
26 Car, comme le Père a la vie en lui-même, ainsi il a donné au Fils d'avoir la vie en lui-même;
For as the father hath life in him silfe: so lyke wyse hath he geven to ye sonne to have lyfe in him silfe:
27 et il lui a aussi donné le pouvoir de juger, parce qu'il est Fils de l'homme.
and hath geven him power also to iudge in that he is the sonne of man.
28 Ne vous en étonnez pas; car l'heure vient où tous ceux qui sont dans les sépulcres entendront sa voix.
Marvayle not at this ye houre shall come in the which all yt are in the graves shall heare his voice
29 Et ils en sortiront, ceux qui auront fait le bien, pour une résurrection de vie; ceux qui auront fait le mal, pour une résurrection de condamnation.
and shall come forthe: they that have done good vnto the resurreccion of lyfe: and they that have done evyll vnto the resurreccion of dampnacion.
30 Je ne puis rien faire de moi-même. Selon que j'entends, je juge; et mon jugement est juste, parce que je ne cherche pas ma propre volonté, mais la volonté de celui qui m'a envoyé.
I can of myne awne selfe do nothinge at all. As I heare I iudge and my iudgemet is iust because I seke not myne awne will but the will of ye father which hath sent me.
31 Si c'est moi qui rends témoignage de moi-même, mon témoignage n'est pas véridique.
Yf I beare witnes of my selfe my witnes is not true.
32 Il y en a un autre qui rend témoignage de moi, et je sais que le témoignage qu'il rend de moi est véridique.
Ther is a nother that beareth witnes of me and I am sure that the witnes whiche he beareth of me is true.
33 Vous avez envoyé vers Jean, et il a rendu témoignage à la vérité.
Ye sent vnto Iohn and he bare witnes vnto the truthe.
34 Pour moi, ce n'est pas d'un homme que je reçois le témoignage; mais je dis cela afin que vous soyez sauvés.
But I receave not the recorde of man. Neverthelesse these thinges I saye that ye might be safe.
35 Jean était la lampe qui brûle et luit, mais vous n'avez voulu que vous réjouir un moment à sa lumière.
He was a burninge and a shyninge light and ye wolde for a season have reioysed in his light.
36 Pour moi, j'ai un témoignage plus grand que celui de Jean; car les œuvres que le Père m'a donné d'accomplir, ces œuvres mêmes que je fais, rendent témoignage de moi, que c'est le Père qui m'a envoyé.
But I have greater witnes then the witnes of Iohn. For ye workes which ye father hath geve me to fynisshe: the same workes which I do beare witnes of me that ye father sent me.
37 Et le Père qui m'a envoyé a rendu lui-même témoignage de moi. Vous n'avez jamais entendu sa voix, ni vu sa face,
And the father him silfe which hath sent me beareth witnes of me. Ye have not hearde his voyce at eny tyme nor ye have sene his shape:
38 et vous n'avez point sa parole demeurant en vous, parce que vous ne croyez pas à celui qu'il a envoyé.
therto his wordes have ye not abydinge in you. For whome he hath sent: him ye beleve not.
39 Vous scrutez les Écritures, parce que vous pensez trouver en elles la vie éternelle; or, ce sont elles qui rendent témoignage de moi; (aiōnios g166)
Searche the scriptures for in them ye thinke ye have eternall lyfe: and they are they which testify of me. (aiōnios g166)
40 et vous ne voulez pas venir à moi pour avoir la vie.
And yet will ye not come to me that ye might have lyfe.
41 Ce n'est point que je demande ma gloire aux hommes;
I receave not prayse of men.
42 mais je vous connais, je sais que vous n'avez pas en vous l'amour de Dieu.
But I knowe you that ye have not the love of God in you
43 Je suis venu au nom de mon Père, et vous ne me recevez pas; qu'un autre vienne en son propre nom, vous le recevrez.
I am come in my fathers name and ye receave me not. Yf another shall come in his awne name him will ye receave.
44 Comment pouvez-vous croire, vous qui tirez votre gloire les uns des autres, et qui ne recherchez pas la gloire qui vient de Dieu seul?
How can ye beleve which receave honoure one of another and seke not the honoure that commeth of God only?
45 Ne pensez pas que ce soit moi qui vous accuserai devant le Père; votre accusateur, c'est Moïse, en qui vous avez mis votre espérance.
Doo not thinke that I wyll accuse you to my father. Ther is one that accuseth you eve Moses in whom ye trust.
46 Car si vous croyiez Moïse, vous me croiriez aussi, parce qu'il a écrit de moi.
For had ye beleved Moses ye wold have beleved me: for he wrote of me.
47 Mais si vous ne croyez pas à ses écrits, comment croirez-vous à mes paroles? "
But now ye beleve not his writinge: how shall ye beleve my wordes.
