Luc 13
1 En ce même temps, quelques-uns vinrent raconter à Jésus ce qui était arrivé aux Galiléens, dont Pilate avait mêlé le sang avec celui de leurs sacrifices.
Now some were present at the same time who informed him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate mingled with their sacrifices.
2 Il leur répondit: « Pensez-vous que ces Galiléens fussent de plus grands pécheurs que tous les autres Galiléens, pour avoir souffert de la sorte?
And having answered, Jesus said to them, Do ye suppose that these Galileans became sinful above all the Galileans because they have suffered such things?
3 Non, je vous le dis; mais si vous ne vous repentez, vous périrez tous comme eux.
I tell you, no, but if ye do not repent, ye will all perish similarly.
4 Ou bien ces dix-huit sur qui tomba la tour de Siloé, et qu’elle tua, pensez-vous que leur dette fût plus grande que celle de tous les autres habitants de Jérusalem?
Or those eighteen upon whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them. Do ye think that these became debtors above all the men who dwell in Jerusalem?
5 Non, je vous le dis; mais si vous ne vous repentez, vous périrez tous de même. »
I tell you, no, but if ye do not repent, ye will all likewise perish.
6 Il dit aussi cette parabole: « Un homme avait un figuier planté dans sa vigne; il vint pour y chercher des fruits, et n’en trouvant point,
And he spoke this parable. A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it, and found none.
7 il dit au vigneron: Voilà trois ans que je viens chercher du fruit à ce figuier, et je n’en trouve point; coupe-le donc: pourquoi rend-il la terre improductive?
And he said to the vine workman, Behold, three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none. Cut it down, why also waste the ground?
8 Le vigneron lui répondit: Seigneur, laissez-le encore cette année, jusqu’à ce que j’aie creusé et mis du fumier tout autour.
And having answered, he says to him, Sir, allow it this year also until I may dig around it and cast manure.
9 Peut-être portera-t-il du fruit ensuite; sinon, vous le couperez. »
Although surely it should bear fruit, and if not, in the coming year thou will cut it down.
10 Jésus enseignait dans une synagogue un jour de sabbat.
And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath day.
11 Or, il y avait là une femme possédée depuis dix-huit ans d’un esprit qui la rendait infirme: elle était courbée, et ne pouvait absolument pas se redresser.
And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years. And she was bent over, and not being able to straighten up completely.
12 L’ayant vue, Jésus l’appela et lui dit: « Femme, tu es délivrée de ton infirmité. »
And when Jesus saw her, he called out, and said to her, Woman, thou are loosed from thine infirmity.
13 Et il lui imposa les mains; aussitôt elle se redressa, et elle glorifiait Dieu.
And he laid his hands upon her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
14 Mais le chef de synagogue, indigné de ce que Jésus avait fait cette guérison un jour de sabbat, prit la parole et dit au peuple: « Il y a six jours pour travailler, venez donc vous faire guérir ces jours-là et non pas le jour du sabbat. —
And having responded, the synagogue-ruler, being indignant because Jesus healed on the sabbath, answered and said to the multitude, There are six days in which he ought to work. Therefore coming in these, be healed, and not on the day of the sabbath.
15 Hypocrite, lui répondit le Seigneur, est-ce que chacun de vous, le jour du sabbat, ne détache pas de la crèche son bœuf ou son âne, pour le mener boire?
But the Lord therefore answered him and said, Ye hypocrites, does not each of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his donkey from the stall, and after leading away, give to drink?
16 Et cette fille d’Abraham, que Satan tenait liée depuis dix-huit ans, il ne fallait pas la délivrer de cette chaîne le jour du sabbat! »
And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham whom Satan has bound, lo, eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the day of the sabbath?
17 Pendant qu’il parlait ainsi, tous ses adversaires étaient couverts de confusion, et tout le peuple était ravi de toutes les choses merveilleuses qu’il accomplissait.
And as he said these things all those opposing him were shamed, and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.
18 Il disait encore: « A quoi le royaume de Dieu est-il semblable, et à quoi le comparerai-je?
And he said, What is the kingdom of God like, and to what will I compare it?
19 Il est semblable à un grain de sénevé qu’un homme prit et jeta dans son jardin; il poussa et il devint un arbre, et les oiseaux du ciel firent leur demeure dans ses rameaux. »
It is like a grain of a mustard plant, which having taken, a man cast into his own garden. And it grew and developed into a great tree, and the birds of the sky lodged in the branches if it.
20 Il dit encore: « A quoi comparerai-je le royaume de Dieu?
And again he said, To what will I compare the kingdom of God?
21 Il est semblable au levain qu’une femme prend et mêle dans trois mesures de farine, de façon à faire lever toute la pâte. »
It is like leaven that a woman having taken, hid in three measures of meal, until the whole was leavened.
22 Il allait donc par les villes et les villages, enseignant et s’avançant vers Jérusalem.
And he went through by cities and villages, teaching, and making a journey toward Jerusalem.
23 Quelqu’un lui demanda: « Seigneur, n’y aura-t-il qu’un petit nombre de sauvés? » Il leur dit:
And a certain man said to him, Lord, are they few who are being saved? And he said to them,
24 « Efforcez-vous d’entrer par la porte étroite; car beaucoup, je vous le dis, chercheront à entrer, et ne le pourront pas.
Compete to enter in by the narrow gate, because many, I say to you, will seek to enter in, and will not be able.
25 Une fois que le père de famille se sera levé et aura fermé la porte, si vous êtes dehors et que vous vous mettiez à frapper, en disant: Seigneur, ouvrez-nous! Il vous répondra: Je ne sais d’où vous êtes.
From the time the house-ruler has risen up, and has closed the door, and ye begin to stand outside, and to knock the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us, and having answered, he will say to you, I know not where ye are from,
26 Alors vous vous mettrez à dire: Nous avons mangé et bu devant vous, et vous avez enseigné dans nos places publiques.
then ye will begin to say, We ate and drank in thy presence, and thou taught in our thoroughfares.
27 Et il vous répondra: Je vous le dis, je ne sais d’où vous êtes; retirez-vous de moi, vous tous, ouvriers d’iniquités.
And he will say, I tell you, I know not where ye are from. Depart from me, all ye workmen of unrighteousness.
28 C’est alors qu’il y aura des pleurs et des grincements de dents, lorsque vous verrez Abraham, Isaac et Jacob, et tous les prophètes dans le royaume de Dieu, tandis que vous serez jetés dehors.
There will be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth, when ye will see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and you being thrust out.
29 Il en viendra de l’Orient et de l’Occident, de l’Aquilon et du Midi; et ils prendront place au banquet dans le royaume de Dieu.
And they will arrive from the east and west, and from the north and south, and will sit down in the kingdom of God.
30 Et tels sont les derniers, qui seront les premiers; et tels sont les premiers, qui seront les derniers. »
And behold, there are last who will be first, and there are first who will be last.
31 Le même jour, quelques Pharisiens vinrent lui dire: « Retires-toi et pars d’ici; car Hérode veut te faire mourir. »
In the same day some Pharisees came, saying to him, Get thee out and depart from here, because Herod wants to kill thee.
32 Il leur répondit: « Allez et dites à ce renard: Je chasse les démons et guéris les malades aujourd’hui et demain, et le troisième jour j’aurai fini.
And he said to them, Having gone, say to this fox, Behold, I cast out demons and finish cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I am fully perfected.
33 Seulement il faut que je poursuive ma route aujourd’hui, et demain, et le jour suivant; car il ne con vient pas qu’un prophète meure hors de Jérusalem.
Nevertheless it is necessary for me to go today and tomorrow and the following, because it is not possible for a prophet to perish outside of Jerusalem.
34 Jérusalem, Jérusalem, qui tues les prophètes, et lapide ceux qui sont envoyés vers elle! Combien de fois j’ai voulu rassembler tes enfants comme la poule rassemble sa couvée sous ses ailes, et vous ne l’avez pas voulu!
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that kills the prophets, and stones those who are sent to her. How often I wanted to gather thy children together as a hen does her brood under her wings, and ye would not.
35 Voici que votre maison va vous être laissée. Je vous le dis, vous ne me verrez plus, jusqu’à ce que vienne le jour où vous direz: Béni soit celui qui vient au nom du Seigneur! »
Behold, your house is left to you desolate. And I say to you, that ye will, no, not see me, until it will come when ye say, Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
