1 Chroniques 12
1 Voici ceux qui vinrent vers David à Siceleg, lorsqu’il devait encore se tenir éloigné de la face de Saül, fils de Cis; ils étaient parmi les vaillants qui le secoururent pendant la guerre.
Now these, are they who came unto David, to Ziklag, he yet being shut up, because of Saul son of Kish, —and, they, were among the heroes, helpers in the war;
2 C’étaient des archers, exercés à lancer des pierres de la main droite et de la main gauche, et à tirer des flèches avec leur arc; ils étaient d’entre les frères de Saül, de Benjamin.
armed with the bow, using right hand or left with stones, and with arrows in the bow, —of the brethren of Saul, out of Benjamin:
3 A leur tête Ahiéser, puis Joas, tous deux fils de Samaa, de Gabaa; Jaziel et Phallet, fils d’Azmoth; Baracha; Jéhu, d’Anatoth;
the chief, Ahiezer, and Joash, sons of Shemaah the Gibeathite, and Jeziel and Pelet, sons of Azmaveth, —and Beracah, and Jehu the Anathothite;
4 Samaïas, de Gabaon, vaillant parmi les Trente et chef des Trente; Jérémie; Jéhéziel; Johanan; Jézabad, de Gédéra;
and Ishmaiah, the Gibeonite, a hero among the thirty, and over the thirty, —and Jeremiah and Jahaziel, and Johanan, and Jozabad, the Gederathite;
5 Eluzaï; Jérimuth; Baalia; Samaria; Saphatia, de Haruph;
Eluzai and Jerimoth and Bealiah and Shemariah, and Shephatiah, the Haruphite;
6 Elcana, Jésia, Azaréel, Joéser et Jesbaam, fils de Coré;
Elkanah and Isshiah, and Azarel, and Joezer and Jashobeam, the Korahites;
7 Joéla et Zabadia, fils de Jéroham, de Gédor.
and Joelah and Zebadiah, sons of Jeroham, of Gedor.
8 Parmi les Gadites, des hommes vaillants passèrent auprès de David, dans les lieux forts, au désert: guerriers exercés au combat, sachant manier le bouclier et la lance, ayant un aspect de lions, aussi agiles que des gazelles sur les montagnes.
And, of the Gadites, there separated themselves unto David, to the stronghold towards the desert, heroes of valour, men of war, for battle, men that could handle shield and spear, —and, faces of lions, were their faces, and, like gazelles upon the mountains, were they, for swiftness:
9 Ezer était le chef; Obdias, le second; Eliab, le troisième;
Ezer, the chief, Obadiah, the second, —Eliab, the third;
10 Masmana, le quatrième; Jérémie, le cinquième;
Mashmannah, the fourth, Jeremiah, the fifth;
11 Ethi, le sixième; Eliel, le septième;
Attai, the sixth, Eliel the seventh;
12 Johanan, le huitième; Elzébad, le neuvième;
Johanan, the eighth, Elzabad, the ninth;
13 Jérémie, le dixième; Machbanaï, le onzième.
Jeremiah, the tenth, Machbannai, the eleventh.
14 C’étaient des fils de Gad, chefs de l’armée; un seul, le plus petit, pouvait l’emporter sur cent, et le plus grand sur mille.
These, were of the sons of Gad, chiefs of the host, —one to a hundred, the least, and, the greatest, to a thousand.
15 Ce sont eux qui passèrent le Jourdain au premier mois, alors qu’il déborde sur toutes ses rives, et qui mirent en fuite tous les habitants des vallées, à l’orient et à l’occident.
These, are they who passed over the Jordan, in the first month, when, it, was full, over all its banks, —and they put to flight all them of the vales, to the east and to the west.
16 Des fils de Benjamin et de Juda vinrent vers David, dans les lieux forts.
And there came, of the sons of Benjamin, and Judah, as far as the stronghold, unto David.
17 David sortit au-devant d’eux, prit la parole, et leur dit: « Si vous êtes venus à moi avec des sentiments pacifiques, pour me secourir, mon cœur se portera vers vous, en vue de nous unir; mais si c’est pour me livrer perfidement à mes ennemis, lorsque aucune violence ne s’attache à mes mains, que le Dieu de nos pères le voie et qu’il fasse justice! »
And David went forth to meet them, and responded, and said to them, If, peaceably, ye are come unto me, to help me, I shall have towards you, a heart for unity, —but, if to betray me to mine adversaries, there being no violence in my hands, may the God of our fathers see and rebuke!
18 L’Esprit revêtit Amasaï, chef des Trente, et il dit: « A toi, David, et avec toi, fils d’Isaï! Paix, paix à toi, et paix à celui qui te secourt, car ton Dieu t’a secouru! » Et David les accueillit et les plaça parmi les chefs de la bande.
Then, the spirit, clothed Amasai, chief of the thirty, Thine, O David, Yea, with, thee, O son of Jesse! Prosperity, prosperity to thee, And prosperity to thy helpers, For thy God, hath helped thee: So David accepted them, and set them among the chiefs of the band.
19 Des hommes de Manassé se joignirent à David, lorsqu’il alla avec les Philistins faire la guerre à Saül. Mais ils ne secoururent pas les Philistins; car les princes des Philistins renvoyèrent à dessein David en disant: « Au péril de nos têtes, il joindrait son maître Saül. »
And, of Manasseh, there fell away unto David, when he came with the Philistines against Saul to battle, but they helped them not, —for the lords of the Philistines advisedly sent him away, saying, At the price of our heads, he might fall away to his master, Saul.
20 Comme il revenait à Siceleg, des hommes de Manassé se joignirent à lui: Ednas, Jozabad, Jédihel, Michaël, Jozabad, Eliu et Salathi, chefs des milliers de Manassé.
When he went into Ziklag, there fell away unto him, of Manasseh, Adnah and Jozabad, and Jediael and Michael and Jozabad, and Elihu and Zillethai, —chiefs of the thousands that pertained to Manasseh;
21 Ils secoururent David contre les bandes, car ils étaient tous des vaillants, et ils furent chefs dans l’armée.
and, they, helped with David, against the [marauding] band, for, heroes of valour, were they all, —and they became captains in the host;
22 Et de jour en jour des hommes arrivaient auprès de David pour le secourir, jusqu’à ce qu’il eût une grande armée, comme une armée de Dieu.
for, from day to day, there came unto David, to help him, —until it was a great camp, like a camp of God.
23 Voici le nombre des chefs des hommes armés pour la guerre qui vinrent auprès de David à Hébron, pour lui transférer la royauté de Saül, selon l’ordre de Yahweh.
And, these, are the numbers of the chiefs armed for war, they came unto David, to Hebron, —to turn round the kingdom of Saul unto him, according to the bidding of Yahweh:
24 Fils de Juda, portant le bouclier et la lance, six mille huit cents, armés pour la guerre. —
Sons of Judah, bearers of shield and spear, six thousand and eight hundred, armed for war.
25 Des fils de Siméon, hommes vaillants à la guerre, sept mille cent. —
Of sons of Simeon, heroes of valour for the war, seven thousand, and one hundred.
26 Des fils de Lévi, quatre mille six cents;
Of the sons of Levi, four thousand, and six hundred.
27 et Joïada, chef de la famille d’Aaron, et avec lui trois mille sept cents;
And Jehoiada, was chief ruler for Aaron, —and, with him, three thousand and seven hundred;
28 et Sadoc, jeune homme vaillant, et la maison de son père, vingt-deux chefs. —
and Zadok, a young man, a hero of valour, —and the house of his father, captains twenty and two.
29 Des fils de Benjamin, frères de Saül, trois mille; car jusqu’alors la plus grande partie d’entre eux gardaient fidélité à la maison de Saül. —
And, of the sons of Benjamin, brethren of Saul, three thousand, —and, hitherto, the greater part of them, had been keeping the charge of the house of Saul.
30 Des fils d’Ephraïm, vingt mille huit cents, hommes vaillants et renommés dans les maisons de leurs pères. —
And, of the sons of Ephraim, twenty thousand, and eight hundred, —heroes of valour, men of renown, to their ancestral house.
31 De la demi-tribu de Manassé, dix-huit mille, qui furent nominativement désignés pour aller établir David roi. —
And, of the half tribe of Manasseh, eighteen thousand, who were distinguished by name, coming in to make David king.
32 Des fils d’Issachar, ayant l’intelligence des temps pour savoir ce que devait faire Israël, deux cents chefs, et tous leurs frères sous leurs ordres. —
And, of the sons of Issachar, such as were of good understanding of the times, to know what Israel, should do, their chiefs, were two hundred, and, all their brethren, were at their bidding.
33 De Zabulon, cinquante mille, en état d’aller à l’armée, prêts à la guerre et en parfait équipement de guerre, pour se ranger en bataille d’un cœur résolu. —
Of Zebulun—such as were ready to go forth in host, expert for battle with all weapons of war, fifty thousand, —and for setting in array, not of two minds!
34 De Nephthali, mille chefs, et avec eux trente-sept mille, portant le bouclier et la lance. —
And, of Naphtali, a thousand captains, —and, with them, with shield and spear, thirty-seven thousand.
35 Des Danites prêts à la guerre, vingt-huit mille six cents. —
And, of the Danite, expert for war, twenty-eight thousand, and six hundred.
36 D’Aser, en état d’aller à l’armée et prêts à la guerre, quarante mille. —
And, of Asher, such as were ready to go forth in host to set in array for battle, forty thousand.
37 Et de l’autre coté du Jourdain, des Rubenites, des Gadites et de la demi-tribu de Manassé, en parfait équipement d’armes de guerre, cent vingt mille.
And, from over the Jordan, of the Reubenites and Gadites and half tribe of Manasseh, with all manner of weapons of war for battle, a hundred and twenty thousand.
38 Tous ces hommes de guerre, sachant se ranger en bataille, vinrent d’un cœur sincère à Hébron pour établir David roi sur tout Israël; et tout le reste d’Israël n’avait également qu’un cœur pour établir David roi.
All these, being men of war, expert in setting in battle-array, with a perfect heart, came to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel, —moreover also, all the rest of Israel, were of one heart to make David king.
39 Ils furent là trois jours avec David, mangeant et buvant, car leurs frères leur avaient préparé des provisions.
So they were there, with David, three days, eating and drinking, —for their brethren had made preparation for them.
40 Et même ceux qui habitaient près d’eux, jusqu’à Issachar, à Zabulon et à Nephthali, apportaient des vivres sur des ânes, sur des chameaux, sur des mulets et sur des bœufs, des provisions de farine, des masses de figues sèches et des raisins secs, du vin, de l’huile, des bœufs et des brebis en abondance; car il y avait joie en Israël.
Moreover also, they who were near of kin unto them, as far as Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, were bringing bread, on asses and on camels and on mules and on oxen, meal-food, cakes of figs and cakes of raisins, and wine, and oil, and oxen, and sheep—in abundance, —for there was joy Israel.
