Job 26

1 And Job answereth and saith: —

Job svarade, och sade:

2 What — thou hast helped the powerless, Saved an arm not strong!

Hvem äst du biståndig? Dem som ingen magt hafver? Hjelper du honom, som ingen starkhet hafver i armenom?

3 What — thou hast given counsel to the unwise, And wise plans in abundance made known.

Hvem gifver du råd? Dem som intet vet? Och du bär fram dina stora gerningar?

4 With whom hast thou declared words? And whose breath came forth from thee?

För hvem talar du? Och inför hvem går anden ifrå dig?

5 The Rephaim are formed, Beneath the waters, also their inhabitants.

De Reser ängslas under vattnen, och de som när dem bo.

6 Naked [is] Sheol over-against Him, And there is no covering to destruction. (Sheol h7585)

Helvetet är bart för honom, och förderfvet hafver intet öfvertäckelse. (Sheol h7585)

7 Stretching out the north over desolation, Hanging the earth upon nothing,

Han sträcker ut nordet på ingo, och hänger jordena uppå intet.

8 Binding up the waters in His thick clouds, And the cloud is not rent under them.

Vattnet samkar han i sina skyar, och skyarna remna icke derunder.

9 Taking hold of the face of the throne, Spreading over it His cloud.

Han håller sin stol, och utbreder sin sky derföre.

10 A limit He hath placed on the waters, Unto the boundary of light with darkness.

Han hafver satt ett mål om vattnet, intilldess ljus och mörker blifver ändadt.

11 Pillars of the heavens do tremble, And they wonder because of His rebuke.

Himmelens stodar skälfva, och gifva sig för hans näpst.

12 By His power He hath quieted the sea, And by His understanding smitten the proud.

För hans kraft varder hafvet hasteliga stormande, och för hans klokhet stillar sig hafsens höghet.

13 By His Spirit the heavens He beautified, Formed hath His hand the fleeing serpent.

På himmelen varder det klart igenom hans väder, och hans hand drifver bort hvalfisken.

14 Lo, these [are] the borders of His way, And how little a matter is heard of Him, And the thunder of His might Who doth understand?

Si, alltså går det till med hans gerningar; men hvad besynnerligit hafve vi derutinnan hört? Ho kan förstå hans magts dunder?
