Matthew 25
1 Thanne the kyngdoom of heuenes schal be lijk to ten virgyns, whiche token her laumpis, and wenten out ayens the hosebonde and the wijf;
Alors le royaume des cieux sera fait semblable à dix vierges qui, ayant pris leurs lampes, sortirent à la rencontre de l’époux.
2 and fyue of hem weren foolis, and fyue prudent.
Et cinq d’entre elles étaient prudentes, et cinq folles.
3 But the fyue foolis token her laumpis, and token not oile with hem;
Celles qui étaient folles, en prenant leurs lampes, ne prirent pas d’huile avec elles;
4 but the prudent token oile in her vessels with the laumpis.
mais les prudentes prirent de l’huile dans leurs vaisseaux avec leurs lampes.
5 And whilis the hosebonde tariede, alle thei nappiden and slepten.
Or, comme l’époux tardait, elles s’assoupirent toutes et s’endormirent.
6 But at mydnyyt a cryy was maad, Lo! the spouse cometh, go ye oute to mete with him.
Mais au milieu de la nuit il se fit un cri: Voici l’époux; sortez à sa rencontre.
7 Thanne alle tho virgyns risen vp, and araieden her laumpis.
Alors toutes ces vierges se levèrent et apprêtèrent leurs lampes.
8 And the foolis seiden to the wise, Yyue ye to vs of youre oile, for oure laumpis ben quenchid.
Et les folles dirent aux prudentes: Donnez-nous de votre huile, car nos lampes s’éteignent.
9 The prudent answeriden, and seiden, Lest perauenture it suffice not to vs and to you, go ye rather to men that sellen, and bie to you.
Mais les prudentes répondirent, disant: [Non], de peur qu’il n’y en ait pas assez pour nous et pour vous; allez plutôt vers ceux qui en vendent, et achetez-en pour vous-mêmes.
10 And while thei wenten for to bie, the spouse cam; and tho that weren redi, entreden with him to the weddyngis; and the yate was schit.
Or, comme elles s’en allaient pour en acheter, l’époux vint; et celles qui étaient prêtes entrèrent avec lui aux noces; et la porte fut fermée.
11 And at the last the othere virgyns camen, and seiden, Lord, lord, opene to vs.
Ensuite viennent aussi les autres vierges, disant: Seigneur, Seigneur, ouvre-nous!
12 And he answeride, and seide, Treuli Y seie to you, Y knowe you not.
Mais lui, répondant, dit: En vérité, je vous dis: je ne vous connais pas.
13 Therfor wake ye, for ye witen not the dai ne the our.
Veillez donc; car vous ne savez ni le jour ni l’heure.
14 For as a man that goith in pilgrimage, clepide hise seruauntis, and bitook to hem hise goodis;
Car c’est comme un homme qui, s’en allant hors du pays, appela ses propres esclaves et leur remit ses biens.
15 and to oon he yaf fyue talentis, and to another tweyne, and to another oon, to ech after his owne vertu; and wente forth anoon.
Et à l’un, il donna cinq talents; à un autre, deux; à un autre, un; à chacun selon sa propre capacité; et aussitôt il s’en alla hors du pays.
16 And he that hadde fyue besauntis, wente forth, and wrouyte in hem, and wan othere fyue.
Or celui qui avait reçu les cinq talents s’en alla et les fit valoir, et acquit cinq autres talents.
17 Also and he that hadde takun tweyne, wan othere tweyne.
De même aussi, celui qui avait reçu les deux, en gagna, lui aussi, deux autres.
18 But he that hadde takun oon, yede forth, and dalf in to the erthe, and hidde the money of his lord.
Mais celui qui en avait reçu un, s’en alla et creusa dans la terre, et cacha l’argent de son maître.
19 But after long tyme, the lord of tho seruauntis cam, and rekenede with hem.
Et longtemps après, le maître de ces esclaves vient et règle compte avec eux.
20 And he that hadde takun fyue besauntis, cam, and brouyte othere fyue, and seide, Lord, thou bytokist to me fyue besauntis, loo! Y haue getun aboue fyue othere.
Et celui qui avait reçu les cinq talents vint et apporta cinq autres talents, disant: Maître, tu m’as remis cinq talents; voici, j’ai gagné cinq autres talents par-dessus.
21 His lord seide to hym, Wel be thou, good seruaunt and feithful; for on fewe thingis thou hast be trewe, Y schal ordeyne thee on manye thingis; entre thou in to the ioye of thi lord.
Son maître lui dit: Bien, bon et fidèle esclave; tu as été fidèle en peu de chose, je t’établirai sur beaucoup: entre dans la joie de ton maître.
22 And he that hadde takun twey talentis, cam, and seide, Lord, thou bitokist to me twey besauntis; loo!
Et celui qui avait reçu les deux talents vint aussi et dit: Maître, tu m’as remis deux talents; voici, j’ai gagné deux autres talents par-dessus.
23 Y haue wonnen ouer othir tweyne. His lord seide to him, Wel be thou, good seruaunt and trewe; for on fewe thingis thou hast be trewe, Y schal ordeyne thee on many thingis; entre thou in to the ioie of thi lord.
Son maître lui dit: Bien, bon et fidèle esclave; tu as été fidèle en peu de chose, je t’établirai sur beaucoup: entre dans la joie de ton maître.
24 But he that hadde takun o besaunt, cam, and seide, Lord, Y woot that thou art an hard man; thou repist where thou hast not sowe, and thou gederist togidere where thou hast not spred abrood;
Et celui qui avait reçu un talent vint aussi et dit: Maître, je te connaissais, que tu es un homme dur, moissonnant où tu n’as pas semé et recueillant où tu n’as pas répandu;
25 and Y dredynge wente, and hidde thi besaunt in the erthe; lo! thou hast that that is thin.
et, craignant, je m’en suis allé et j’ai caché ton talent dans la terre; voici, tu as ce qui est à toi.
26 His lord answeride, and seide to hym, Yuel seruaunt and slowe, wistist thou that Y repe where Y sewe not, and gadir to gidere where Y spredde not abrood?
Et son maître, répondant, lui dit: Méchant et paresseux esclave, tu savais que je moissonne où je n’ai pas semé, et que je recueille où je n’ai pas répandu,
27 Therfor it bihofte thee to bitake my money to chaungeris, that whanne Y cam, Y schulde resseyue that that is myn with vsuris.
– tu aurais donc dû placer mon argent chez les banquiers, et, quand je serais venu, j’aurais reçu ce qui est à moi avec l’intérêt.
28 Therfor take awei fro hym the besaunt, and yyue ye to hym that hath ten besauntis.
Ôtez-lui donc le talent, et donnez-le à celui qui a les dix talents;
29 For to euery man that hath me schal yyue, and he schal encreese; but fro hym that hath not, also that that hym semeth to haue, schal be taken awey fro him.
car à chacun qui a il sera donné, et il sera dans l’abondance; mais à celui qui n’a pas, cela même qu’il a lui sera ôté.
30 And caste ye out the vnprofitable seruaunt in to vtmer derknessis; ther schal be wepyng, and gryntyng of teeth.
Et jetez l’esclave inutile dans les ténèbres de dehors: là seront les pleurs et les grincements de dents.
31 Whanne mannus sone schal come in his maieste, and alle hise aungels with hym, thanne he schal sitte on the sege of his maieste;
Or, quand le fils de l’homme viendra dans sa gloire, et tous les anges avec lui, alors il s’assiéra sur le trône de sa gloire,
32 and alle folkis schulen be gaderid bifor hym,
et toutes les nations seront assemblées devant lui; et il séparera les uns d’avec les autres, comme un berger sépare les brebis d’avec les chèvres;
33 and he schal departe hem atwynne, as a scheeperde departith scheep from kidis; and he schal sette the scheep on his riythalf, and the kidis on the lefthalf.
et il mettra les brebis à sa droite et les chèvres à sa gauche.
34 Thanne the kyng schal seie to hem, that schulen be on his riythalf, Come ye, the blessid of my fadir, take ye in possessioun the kyngdoom maad redi to you fro the makyng of the world.
Alors le roi dira à ceux qui seront à sa droite: Venez, les bénis de mon Père, héritez du royaume qui vous est préparé dès la fondation du monde;
35 For Y hungride, and ye yauen me to ete; Y thristide, and ye yauen me to drynke; Y was herboreles, and ye herboriden me;
car j’ai eu faim, et vous m’avez donné à manger; j’ai eu soif, et vous m’avez donné à boire; j’étais étranger, et vous m’avez recueilli;
36 nakid, and ye hiliden me; sijk, and ye visitiden me; Y was in prisoun, and ye camen to me.
j’étais nu, et vous m’avez vêtu; j’étais infirme, et vous m’avez visité; j’étais en prison, et vous êtes venus auprès de moi.
37 Thanne iust men schulen answere to hym, and seie, Lord, whanne siyen we thee hungry, and we fedden thee; thristi, and we yauen to thee drynk?
Alors les justes lui répondront, disant: Seigneur, quand est-ce que nous t’avons vu avoir faim, et que nous t’avons nourri; ou avoir soif, et que nous t’avons donné à boire?
38 and whanne sayn we thee herborles, and we herboreden thee; or nakid, and we hiliden thee?
Et quand est-ce que nous t’avons vu étranger, et que nous t’avons recueilli; ou nu, et que nous t’avons vêtu?
39 or whanne sayn we thee sijk, or in prisoun, and we camen to thee?
Et quand est-ce que nous t’avons vu infirme, ou en prison, et que nous sommes venus auprès de toi?
40 And the kyng answerynge schal seie to hem, Treuli Y seie to you, as longe as ye diden to oon of these my leeste britheren, ye diden to me.
Et le roi, répondant, leur dira: En vérité, je vous dis: En tant que vous l’avez fait à l’un des plus petits de ceux-ci [qui sont] mes frères, vous me l’avez fait à moi.
41 Thanne the kyng schal seie also to hem, that schulen be on his lefthalf, Departe fro me, ye cursid, in to euerlastynge fijr, that is maad redi to the deuel and hise aungels. (aiōnios g166)
Alors il dira aussi à ceux qui seront à sa gauche: Allez-vous-en loin de moi, maudits, dans le feu éternel qui est préparé pour le diable et ses anges; (aiōnios g166)
42 For Y hungride, and ye yauen not me to ete; Y thristide, and ye yauen not me to drynke;
car j’ai eu faim, et vous ne m’avez pas donné à manger; j’ai eu soif, et vous ne m’avez pas donné à boire;
43 Y was herborles, and ye herberden not me; nakid, and ye keuerden not me; sijk, and in prisoun, and ye visitiden not me.
j’étais étranger, et vous ne m’avez pas recueilli; nu, et vous ne m’avez pas vêtu; infirme et en prison, et vous ne m’avez pas visité.
44 Thanne and thei schulen answere to hym, and schulen seie, Lord, whanne sayn we thee hungrynge, or thristynge, or herboreles, or nakid, or sijk, or in prisoun, and we serueden not to thee?
Alors eux aussi répondront, disant: Seigneur, quand est-ce que nous t’avons vu avoir faim, ou avoir soif, ou être étranger, ou nu, ou infirme, ou en prison, et que nous ne t’avons pas servi?
45 Thanne he schal answere to hem, and seie, Treuli Y seie to you, `hou longe ye diden not to oon of these leeste, nether ye diden to me.
Alors il leur répondra, disant: En vérité, je vous dis: En tant que vous ne l’avez pas fait à l’un de ces plus petits, vous ne me l’avez pas fait non plus à moi.
