Psalms 54

1 For the Chief Musician. On stringed instruments. A contemplation by David, when the Ziphites came and said to Saul, “Isn’t David hiding himself among us?” Save me, God, by your name. Vindicate me in your might.

Au maître chantre. Avec instruments à cordes. Hymne de David, lorsque les Siphéens vinrent, et dirent à Saül: Voici, David est caché parmi nous. Dieu, sois par ton nom mon sauveur, et par ta puissance, mon défenseur!

2 Hear my prayer, God. Listen to the words of my mouth.

O Dieu, écoute ma prière, prête l'oreille aux paroles de ma bouche!

3 For strangers have risen up against me. Violent men have sought after my soul. They haven’t set God before them. (Selah)

Car des étrangers s'élèvent contre moi, et des furieux attentent à ma vie; ils ne mettent point Dieu en vue de leurs regards. (Pause)

4 Behold, God is my helper. The Lord is the one who sustains my soul.

Voici, Dieu m'est secourable, le Seigneur est le soutien de ma vie:

5 He will repay the evil to my enemies. Destroy them in your truth.

Il fera retomber sur mes ennemis leur méchanceté. Selon ta fidélité anéantis-les!

6 With a free will offering, I will sacrifice to you. I will give thanks to your name, Yahweh, for it is good.

D'un cœur empressé je te ferai des sacrifices, je célébrerai ton nom, Éternel, car il est bon,

7 For he has delivered me out of all trouble. My eye has seen triumph over my enemies.

car il m'a délivré de toute adversité, et mes ennemis réjouissent mes regards.
