Luke 19
1 He entered and was passing through Jericho.
Entró en Jericó, e iba pasando.
2 There was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector, and he was rich.
Y he aquí que un hombre rico llamado Zaqueo, que era jefe de los publicanos,
3 He was trying to see who Jesus was, and couldn’t because of the crowd, because he was short.
buscaba ver a Jesús para conocerlo, pero no lo lograba a causa de la mucha gente, porque era pequeño de estatura.
4 He ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was going to pass that way.
Entonces corrió hacia adelante, y subió sobre un sicomoro para verlo, porque debía pasar por allí.
5 When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.”
Cuando Jesús llegó a este lugar, levantó los ojos y dijo: “Zaqueo, desciende pronto, porque hoy es necesario que Yo me hospede en tu casa”.
6 He hurried, came down, and received him joyfully.
Y este descendió rápidamente, y lo recibió con alegría.
7 When they saw it, they all murmured, saying, “He has gone in to lodge with a man who is a sinner.”
Viendo lo cual, todos murmuraban y decían: “Se ha ido a hospedar en casa de un varón pecador”.
8 Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, half of my goods I give to the poor. If I have wrongfully exacted anything of anyone, I restore four times as much.”
Mas Zaqueo, puesto en pie, dijo al Señor: “Señor, he aquí que doy a los pobres la mitad de mis bienes; y si en algo he perjudicado a alguno le devuelvo el cuádruplo”.
9 Jesus said to him, “Today, salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham.
Jesús le dijo: “Hoy se obró salvación a esta casa, porque también él es un hijo de Abrahán.
10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost.”
Vino el Hijo del hombre a buscar y a salvar lo perdido”.
11 As they heard these things, he went on and told a parable, because he was near Jerusalem, and they supposed that God’s Kingdom would be revealed immediately.
Oyendo ellos todavía estas cosas, agregó una parábola, porque se hallaba próximo a Jerusalén, y ellos pensaban que el reino de Dios iba a ser manifestado en seguida.
12 He said therefore, “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return.
Dijo pues: “Un hombre de noble linaje se fue a un país lejano a tomar para sí posesión de un reino y volver.
13 He called ten servants of his and gave them ten mina coins, and told them, ‘Conduct business until I come.’
Llamó a diez de sus servidores y les entregó diez minas, diciéndoles: “Negociad hasta que yo vuelva”.
14 But his citizens hated him, and sent an envoy after him, saying, ‘We don’t want this man to reign over us.’
Ahora bien, sus conciudadanos lo odiaban, y enviaron una embajada detrás de él diciendo: “No queremos que ese reine sobre nosotros”.
15 “When he had come back again, having received the kingdom, he commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know what they had gained by conducting business.
Al retornar él, después de haber recibido el reinado, dijo que le llamasen a aquellos servidores a quienes había entregado el dinero, a fin de saber lo que había negociado cada uno.
16 The first came before him, saying, ‘Lord, your mina has made ten more minas.’
Presentose el primero y dijo: “Señor, diez minas ha producido tu mina”.
17 “He said to him, ‘Well done, you good servant! Because you were found faithful with very little, you shall have authority over ten cities.’
Le dijo: “Enhorabuena, buen servidor, ya que has sido fiel en tan poca cosa, recibe potestad sobre diez ciudades”.
18 “The second came, saying, ‘Your mina, Lord, has made five minas.’
Y vino el segundo y dijo: “Tu mina, Señor, ha producido cinco minas”.
19 “So he said to him, ‘And you are to be over five cities.’
A él también le dijo: “Y tú sé gobernador de cinco ciudades”.
20 Another came, saying, ‘Lord, behold, your mina, which I kept laid away in a handkerchief,
Mas el otro vino diciendo: “Señor, aquí tienes tu mina, que tuve escondida en un pañuelo.
21 for I feared you, because you are an exacting man. You take up that which you didn’t lay down, and reap that which you didn’t sow.’
Pues te tenía miedo, porque tú eres un hombre duro; sacas lo que no pusiste, y siegas lo que no sembraste”.
22 “He said to him, ‘Out of your own mouth I will judge you, you wicked servant! You knew that I am an exacting man, taking up that which I didn’t lay down and reaping that which I didn’t sow.
Replicole: “Por tu propia boca te condeno, siervo malvado. ¿Pensabas que soy hombre duro, que saco lo que no puse, y siego lo que no sembré?
23 Then why didn’t you deposit my money in the bank, and at my coming, I might have earned interest on it?’
Y entonces por qué no diste el dinero mío al banco? ( Así al menos ) a mi regreso lo hubiera yo recobrado con réditos”.
24 He said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina away from him and give it to him who has the ten minas.’
Y dijo a los que estaban allí: “Quitadle la mina, y dádsela al que tiene diez”.
25 “They said to him, ‘Lord, he has ten minas!’
Dijéronle: “Señor, tiene diez minas”.
26 ‘For I tell you that to everyone who has, will more be given; but from him who doesn’t have, even that which he has will be taken away from him.
“Os digo: a todo el que tiene, se le dará; y al que no tiene, aun lo que tiene le será quitado.
27 But bring those enemies of mine who didn’t want me to reign over them here, and kill them before me.’”
En cuanto a mis enemigos, los que no han querido que yo reinase sobre ellos, traedlos aquí y degolladlos en mi presencia”.
28 Having said these things, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.
Después de haber dicho esto, marchó al frente subiendo a Jerusalén.
29 When he came near to Bethsphage and Bethany, at the mountain that is called Olivet, he sent two of his disciples,
Y cuando se acercó a Betfagé y Betania, junto al Monte de los Olivos, envió a dos de su discípulos,
30 saying, “Go your way into the village on the other side, in which, as you enter, you will find a colt tied, which no man has ever sat upon. Untie it and bring it.
diciéndoles: “Id a la aldea de enfrente. Al entrar en ella, encontraréis un burrito atado sobre el cual nadie ha montado todavía; desatadlo y traedlo.
31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say to him: ‘The Lord needs it.’”
Y si alguien os pregunta: “¿Por qué lo desatáis?”, diréis así: “El Señor lo necesita”.
32 Those who were sent went away and found things just as he had told them.
Los enviados partieron y encontraron las cosas como les había dicho.
33 As they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?”
Cuando desataban el burrito, los dueños les dijeron: “Por qué desatáis el pollino?”
34 They said, “The Lord needs it.”
Respondieron: “El Señor lo necesita”.
35 Then they brought it to Jesus. They threw their cloaks on the colt and sat Jesus on them.
Se lo llevaron a Jesús, pusieron sus mantos encima, e hicieron montar a Jesús.
36 As he went, they spread their cloaks on the road.
Y mientras Él avanzaba, extendían sus mantos sobre el camino.
37 As he was now getting near, at the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works which they had seen,
Una vez que estuvo próximo al descenso del Monte de los Olivos, toda la muchedumbre de los discípulos, en su alegría, se puso a alabar a Dios con gran voz, por todos los portentos que habían visto,
38 saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest!”
y decían: “Bendito el que viene, el Rey en nombre del Señor. En el cielo paz, y gloria en las alturas”.
39 Some of the Pharisees from the multitude said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”
Pero algunos fariseos, de entre la multitud, dirigiéndose a Él, dijeron: “Maestro, reprende a tus discípulos”.
40 He answered them, “I tell you that if these were silent, the stones would cry out.”
Mas Él respondió: “Os digo, si estas gentes se callan, las piedras se pondrán a gritar”.
41 When he came near, he saw the city and wept over it,
Y cuando estuvo cerca, viendo la ciudad, lloró sobre ella.
42 saying, “If you, even you, had known today the things which belong to your peace! But now, they are hidden from your eyes.
y dijo: “¡Ah si en este día conocieras también tú lo que sería para la paz! Pero ahora está escondido a tus ojos.
43 For the days will come on you when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, surround you, hem you in on every side,
Porque vendrán días sobre ti, y tus enemigos te circunvalarán con un vallado, y te cercarán en derredor y te estrecharán de todas partes;
44 and will dash you and your children within you to the ground. They will not leave in you one stone on another, because you didn’t know the time of your visitation.”
derribarán por tierra a ti, y a tus hijos dentro de ti, y no dejarán en ti piedra sobre piedra, porque no conociste el tiempo en que has sido visitada”.
45 He entered into the temple and began to drive out those who bought and sold in it,
Entró en el Templo y se puso a echar a los vendedores,
46 saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house is a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of robbers’!”
y les dijo: “Está escrito: «Mi casa será una casa de oración», y vosotros la habéis hecho una cueva de ladrones”.
47 He was teaching daily in the temple, but the chief priests, the scribes, and the leading men among the people sought to destroy him.
Y día tras día enseñaba en el Templo. Mas los sumos sacerdotes y los escribas andaban buscando perderle, y también los jefes del pueblo;
48 They couldn’t find what they might do, for all the people hung on to every word that he said.
pero no acertaban con lo que habían de hacer, porque el pueblo entero estaba en suspenso, escuchándolo.
