Psalms 6

1 For the chief musician; on stringed instruments, set to the Sheminith style. A psalm of David. Yahweh, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath.

Au chef des chantres, avec les instruments à cordes, à l’octave. Psaume de David. Seigneur, ne me réprimande pas dans ta colère, ne me châtie pas dans ton courroux.

2 Have mercy on me, Yahweh, for I am frail; heal me, Yahweh, for my bones are shaking.

Aie pitié de moi, Seigneur, car je suis abattu; guéris-moi, Eternel, car mes membres sont en désarroi,

3 My soul also is very troubled. But you, Yahweh—how long will this continue?

mon âme est bien troublée: et toi, ô Eternel, jusques à quand?

4 Return, Yahweh! rescue me. Save me because of your covenant faithfulness!

Daigne de nouveau, Seigneur, délivrer mon âme, viens à mon secours en raison de ta bonté;

5 For in death there is no remembrance of you. In Sheol who will give you thanks? (Sheol h7585)

car dans la mort ton souvenir est effacé; dans le Cheol, qui te rend hommage? (Sheol h7585)

6 I am weary with my groaning. All night I drench my bed with tears; I wash my couch away with my tears.

Je me suis exténué en gémissements; chaque nuit je baigne mon lit de larmes; de mes pleurs j’inonde ma couche.

7 My eyes grow dim from grief; they grow weak because of all my adversaries.

Ma vue s’éteint de chagrin, elle vieillit à cause de tous mes ennemis.

8 Get away from me, all you who practice iniquity; for Yahweh has heard the sound of my weeping.

Loin de moi, vous tous, artisans d’iniquité! Car l’Eternel entend le bruit de mes sanglots.

9 Yahweh has heard my appeal for mercy; Yahweh has accepted my prayer.

L’Eternel exauce ma supplication, l’Eternel accueille ma prière.

10 All my enemies will be ashamed and greatly troubled. They will turn back and be suddenly humiliated.

Qu’ils soient confus, effarés, tous mes ennemis! Qu’ils lâchent pied, couverts soudain de honte!
