Luke 23
1 And the whole multitude of them arose and ledde him vnto Pylate.
അനന്തരം ആ സംഘം ഒന്നാകെ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് യേശുവിനെ റോമൻ ഭരണാധികാരിയായ പീലാത്തോസിന്റെ അടുത്തേക്ക് കൊണ്ടുപോയി.
2 And they beganne to accuse him sayinge: We have founde this felowe pervertynge the people and forbiddynge to paye tribute to Cesar: sayinge that he is Christ a kynge.
“ഈ മനുഷ്യൻ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ജനങ്ങളെ വഴിതെറ്റിക്കുന്നതായി ഞങ്ങൾ കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. കൈസർക്കു നികുതി കൊടുക്കുന്നത് ഇയാൾ വിലക്കുകയും താൻ ക്രിസ്തു എന്ന രാജാവാണെന്ന് അവകാശപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു,” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ട് അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെമേൽ കുറ്റം ആരോപിക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങി.
3 And Pylate apposed him sayinge: arte thou the kynge of the iewes? He answered him and sayde: thou sayest it.
പീലാത്തോസ് യേശുവിനോട്, “നീയാണോ യെഹൂദരുടെ രാജാവ്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന് യേശു, “അതേ, താങ്കൾ പറയുന്നതുപോലെതന്നെ” എന്നു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.
4 Then sayde Pylate to the hye prestes and to the people: I fynde noo faute in this man.
അപ്പോൾ പീലാത്തോസ് പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാരോടും ജനക്കൂട്ടത്തോടും, “ഞാൻ ഈ മനുഷ്യനിൽ കുറ്റമൊന്നും കാണുന്നില്ല” എന്നു പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു.
5 And they were the moore fearce sayinge. He moveth the people teachynge thorowout all Iewry and beganne at Galile even to this place.
അതിന് അവർ, “ഇവൻ അങ്ങ് ഗലീലാപ്രവിശ്യയിൽ ആരംഭിച്ച് ഇങ്ങ് യെഹൂദ്യവരെ എല്ലായിടത്തും ജനങ്ങളെ തന്റെ ഉപദേശംകൊണ്ട് കലഹിപ്പിക്കുകയാണ്” എന്നു തറപ്പിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.
6 When Pilate hearde mencion of Galile he axed whether the ma were of Galile.
ഇതു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ പീലാത്തോസ് ചോദിച്ചു: “ഈ മനുഷ്യൻ ഗലീലക്കാരനോ?”
7 And assone as he knewe that he was of Herodes iurisdiccion he sent him to Herode which was also at Ierusalem in those dayes.
യേശു ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ അധികാരപരിധിയിൽ ഉൾപ്പെട്ടവൻ എന്നറിഞ്ഞിട്ട്, അയാൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ആ സമയത്തു ജെറുശലേമിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന, ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ അടുത്തേക്കയച്ചു.
8 And when Herode sawe Iesus he was excedinglie gladde. For he was desyrous to se him of a longe season because he had hearde many thinges of him and trusted to have sene some myracle done by him.
യേശുവിനെ കണ്ട് ഹെരോദാവ് അത്യധികം ആനന്ദിച്ചു, കാരണം അയാൾ വളരെക്കാലമായി അദ്ദേഹത്തെ കാണാൻ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. യേശുവിനെക്കുറിച്ചു കേട്ടിരുന്നതിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ, അദ്ദേഹം എന്തെങ്കിലും അത്ഭുതം പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നതു കാണാമെന്നു പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ചു.
9 Then questeoned he with him of many thinges. But he answered him not one worde.
അയാൾ യേശുവിനോട് ഒട്ടേറെ ചോദ്യങ്ങൾ ചോദിച്ചെങ്കിലും യേശു അയാൾക്ക് യാതൊരുത്തരവും നൽകിയില്ല.
10 The hye prestes and scribes stode forthe and accused him straytly.
പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാരും വേദജ്ഞരും ശക്തിയുക്തം അദ്ദേഹത്തിൽ കുറ്റം ആരോപിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
11 And Herod wt his men of warre despysed him and mocked him and arayed him in whyte and sent him agayne to Pylate.
ഹെരോദാവും അയാളുടെ സൈനികരും അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പുച്ഛിക്കുകയും പരിഹസിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. പിന്നെ, അദ്ദേഹത്തെ വിശിഷ്ടമായ പുറങ്കുപ്പായം ധരിപ്പിച്ച് പീലാത്തോസിന്റെ അടുത്തേക്ക് മടക്കി അയച്ചു.
12 And the same daye Pylate and Herod were made frendes togeder. For before they were at variaunce.
അന്ന് ഹെരോദാവും പീലാത്തോസും സ്നേഹിതന്മാരായിത്തീർന്നു; അതിനുമുമ്പ് അവർ പരസ്പരം ശത്രുക്കളായിരുന്നു.
13 And Pylate called to geder the hye prestes and the rulers and the people
പീലാത്തോസ് പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാരെയും ഭരണാധികാരികളെയും ജനങ്ങളെയും വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി, അവരോട് ഇങ്ങനെ വിധിപ്രസ്താവിച്ചു:
14 and sayde vnto them: Ye have brought this man vnto me as one that perverted the people. And beholde I have examined him before you and have founde no faute in this man of those thinges where of ye accuse him.
“ഈ മനുഷ്യൻ ജനങ്ങളെ കലഹത്തിനായി പ്രേരിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് നിങ്ങൾ ഇയാളെ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെമുമ്പാകെ ഇയാളെ വിസ്തരിച്ചിട്ടും ഇയാൾക്കെതിരേ നിങ്ങൾ ഉന്നയിക്കുന്ന ആരോപണങ്ങൾക്ക് യാതൊരടിസ്ഥാനവും കാണാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല;
15 No nor yet Herode. For I sent you to him: and lo no thinge worthy of deeth is done to him.
ഹെരോദാവിനും അതു കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല; അദ്ദേഹം ഇയാളെ നമ്മുടെ അടുക്കൽ മടക്കി അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നല്ലോ. ഇയാൾ മരണയോഗ്യമായതൊന്നും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല.
16 I will therfore chasten him and let him lowsse.
അതുകൊണ്ട് ഇയാളെ ചമ്മട്ടികൊണ്ട് അടിപ്പിച്ച് നാം വിട്ടയയ്ക്കും.”
17 For of necessite he must have let one lowse vnto them at that feast.
പെസഹാഘോഷവേളയിൽ ജനക്കൂട്ടം തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്ന ഒരു തടവുകാരനെ ഭരണാധികാരി മോചിപ്പിക്കുക പതിവുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
18 And all the people cryed at once sayinge: awaye with him and delyvre to vs Barrabas:
അവർ ഒറ്റസ്വരത്തിൽ ഉറക്കെ വിളിച്ചു: “ഇവനെ നീക്കിക്കളയുക, ബറബ്ബാസിനെ മോചിപ്പിക്കുക!”
19 which for insurrccion made in the cite and morther was cast into preson.
(എന്നാൽ ഈ ബറബ്ബാസ് നഗരത്തിലുണ്ടായ ഒരു കലാപവും കൊലപാതകവും നിമിത്തം തടവിൽ അടയ്ക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ ആയിരുന്നു.)
20 Pylate spake agayne to them willynge to let Iesus lowse.
യേശുവിനെ മോചിപ്പിക്കാൻ ആഗ്രഹിച്ച് പീലാത്തോസ് അവരോടു വീണ്ടും സംസാരിച്ചു.
21 And they cryed sayinge: Crucify him Crucify him
അവരോ, അത്യുച്ചത്തിൽ “അവനെ ക്രൂശിക്ക, അവനെ ക്രൂശിക്ക” എന്നു വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
22 He sayde vnto them the thyrde tyme. What evyll hath he done? I fynde no cause of deeth in him. I will therfore chasten him and let him lowse.
പീലാത്തോസ് മൂന്നാമതും അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചു: “അയാൾ എന്തു കുറ്റമാണു ചെയ്തത്? മരണശിക്ഷയ്ക്കു യോഗ്യമായതൊന്നും ഞാൻ ഇയാളിൽ കണ്ടില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ട് ഞാൻ ഇവനെ ചമ്മട്ടികൊണ്ട് അടിപ്പിച്ച് വിട്ടയയ്ക്കും.”
23 And they cryed with loude voyce and required that he myght be crucifyed. And the voyce of them and of the hye Prestes prevayled.
അവരോ, നിർബന്ധപൂർവം “യേശുവിനെ ക്രൂശിക്കണം,” എന്ന് ഉച്ചസ്വരത്തിൽ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. അവരുടെ നിലവിളി വിജയംകണ്ടു.
24 And Pylate gave sentence that it shuld be as they required
അങ്ങനെ, അവരുടെ ആവശ്യം സാധിച്ചുകൊടുക്കാൻ പീലാത്തോസ് തീരുമാനിച്ചു.
25 and let lowse vnto them him that for insurreccion and morther was cast into preson whom they desyred: and delyvered Iesus to do with him what they wolde.
കലാപത്തിനും കൊലപാതകത്തിനും തടവുശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നവനെ അവരുടെ ആവശ്യപ്രകാരം മോചിപ്പിക്കുകയും യേശുവിനെ അവരുടെ ഇഷ്ടത്തിനു വിട്ടുകൊടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
26 And as they ledde him awaye they caught one Symon of Syrene commynge out of the felde: and on him layde they the crosse to beare it after Iesus.
യേശുവിനെ കൊണ്ടുപോകുമ്പോൾ, നാട്ടിൻപുറത്തുനിന്നു വരികയായിരുന്ന, കുറേനഗ്രാമവാസിയായ ശിമോൻ എന്നയാളിനെ സൈനികർ പിടിച്ച് ക്രൂശ് ചുമപ്പിച്ച് യേശുവിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ നടത്തി.
27 And ther folowed him a greate company of people and of wemen which weme bewayled and lamented him.
ഒരു വലിയ ജനാവലി അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പിൻതുടർന്നുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. അക്കൂട്ടത്തിൽ യേശുവിനുവേണ്ടി വിലപിക്കുകയും മുറവിളികൂട്ടുകയുംചെയ്യുന്ന സ്ത്രീകളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
28 But Iesus turned backe vnto them and sayde: Doughters of Ierusalem wepe not for me: but wepe for youre selves and for youre chyldren.
യേശു തിരിഞ്ഞ് അവരോട്, “ജെറുശലേംപുത്രിമാരേ, എനിക്കുവേണ്ടി കരയേണ്ടാ; നിങ്ങൾക്കായും നിങ്ങളുടെ മക്കൾക്കായും കരയുക;
29 For beholde the dayes will come when men shall saye: happy are the baren and the wombes that never bare and the pappes which never gave sucke.
എന്തുകൊണ്ടെന്നാൽ, ‘വന്ധ്യകളും പ്രസവിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്തവരും മുലകുടിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്തവരും സൗഭാഗ്യവതികൾ!’ എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ പറയുന്ന കാലം വരുന്നു.
30 Then shall they beginne to saye to the mountaynes fall on vs: and to the hilles cover vs.
“‘അന്ന്, ജനം മലകളോട്, “ഞങ്ങളുടെമേൽ വീഴുക” എന്നും കുന്നുകളോട് “ഞങ്ങളെ മൂടുക” എന്നും’ പറയും.
31 For yf they do this to a grene tree what shalbe done to the drye?
പച്ചമരത്തോട് മനുഷ്യർ ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുന്നെങ്കിൽ ഉണങ്ങിയതിന് എന്തായിരിക്കും സംഭവിക്കുന്നത്?”
32 And ther were two evyll doers ledde with him to be slayne.
കുറ്റവാളികളായ രണ്ടുപേരെക്കൂടെ അദ്ദേഹത്തോടൊപ്പം വധിക്കാൻ കൊണ്ടുപോയി.
33 And when they were come to the place which is called Calvary there they crucified him and the evyll doers one on ryght honde and the other on the lefte.
തലയോട്ടിയുടെ സ്ഥലം എന്നർഥമുള്ള സ്ഥലത്ത് എത്തിയപ്പോൾ അവിടെ അവർ യേശുവിനെ മധ്യത്തിലും കുറ്റവാളികളിൽ ഒരാളെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വലത്തും മറ്റേയാളെ ഇടത്തുമായി ക്രൂശിച്ചു.
34 Then sayde Iesus: father forgeve them for they woot not what they do. And they parted his rayment and cast loottes.
അപ്പോൾ യേശു, “പിതാവേ, ഇവർ ചെയ്യുന്നത് എന്താണെന്ന് ഇവർ അറിയായ്കയാൽ ഇവരോടു ക്ഷമിക്കണമേ” എന്നു പ്രാർഥിച്ചു. അതിനുശേഷം സൈനികർ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വസ്ത്രങ്ങൾ നറുക്കിട്ട് വീതിച്ചെടുത്തു.
35 And the people stode and behelde. And the rulers mocked him with thee saying: he holpe other men let him helpe him selfe yf he be Christ the chosen of god.
ജനങ്ങൾ ഇതെല്ലാം വീക്ഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുനിന്നു. അധികാരികൾ ആകട്ടെ, അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പരിഹസിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്, “ഇവൻ മറ്റുള്ളവരെ രക്ഷിച്ചു; ഇയാൾ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട ക്രിസ്തുവെങ്കിൽ സ്വയം രക്ഷിക്കട്ടെ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
36 The soudiers also mocked him and came and gave him veneger
സൈനികരും അടുത്തുവന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ നിന്ദിച്ചു. അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു പുളിച്ച വീഞ്ഞു കൊടുത്തുകൊണ്ട്,
37 and sayde: yf thou be that kynge of ye Iewes save thy silfe.
“നീ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവാണെങ്കിൽ നിന്നെത്തന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
38 And his superscripcio was writte over him in greke in latine and Ebreu: This is the kynge of the Iewes.
ഇദ്ദേഹം യെഹൂദരുടെ രാജാവ്, എന്ന ഒരു കുറ്റപത്രം ക്രൂശിൽ യേശുവിന്റെ ശിരസ്സിനുമീതേ വെച്ചിരുന്നു.
39 And one of the evyll doers which hanged rayled on him sayinge: If thou be Christ save thy selfe and vs.
ക്രൂശിക്കപ്പെട്ട കുറ്റവാളികളിൽ ഒരാൾ, “നീ ക്രിസ്തു അല്ലയോ? നിന്നെത്തന്നെയും ഞങ്ങളെയും രക്ഷിക്കുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അപമാനിച്ചു.
40 The other answered and rebuked him sayinge. Net herfearest thou god because thou arte in the same damnacion?
മറ്റേ കുറ്റവാളി അയാളെ ശാസിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്, “തുല്യശിക്ഷാവിധിയിൽ ആയിട്ടും നീ ദൈവത്തെ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നില്ലയോ?
41 We are ryghteously punesshed for we receave accordynge to oure dedes: But this man hath done nothinge amysse.
നമ്മൾ ശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കുന്നതു ന്യായമായിട്ടുതന്നെ; നമ്മുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികൾക്ക് അനുയോജ്യമായതല്ലേ നമുക്കു കിട്ടിയത്! ഈ മനുഷ്യനോ ഒരുതെറ്റും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
42 And he sayde vnto Iesus: Lorde remember me when thou comest into thy kyngdome.
പിന്നെ അയാൾ, “യേശുവേ, അങ്ങു രാജാവായി മടങ്ങിവരുമ്പോൾ എന്നെ ഓർക്കണേ” എന്നപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
43 And Iesus sayde vnto him: Verely I saye vnto the to daye shalt thou be with me in Paradyse.
യേശു അയാളോട്, “ഇന്നു നീ എന്നോടുകൂടെ പറുദീസയിൽ ആയിരിക്കും, നിശ്ചയം എന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
44 And it was about the sixt houre. And ther came a darcknes over all the londe vntyll ye nynth houre
അപ്പോൾ ഏകദേശം മധ്യാഹ്നം പന്ത്രണ്ടുമണി ആയിരുന്നു; സൂര്യൻ ഇരുണ്ടുപോയതുകൊണ്ട്
45 and the sonne was darckened. And the vayle of the temple dyd rent even thorow the myddes.
മൂന്നുമണിവരെ ദേശത്തെല്ലായിടത്തും ഇരുട്ടു വ്യാപിച്ചു. ദൈവാലയത്തിലെ തിരശ്ശീല രണ്ടായി ചീന്തിപ്പോയി.
46 And Iesus cryed with a greate voyce and sayd: Father into thy hondes I comende my sprete. And when he thus had sayd he gave vp the goost.
“പിതാവേ, അങ്ങയുടെ കരങ്ങളിൽ ഞാൻ എന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ തിരുക്കരങ്ങളിൽ ഭരമേൽപ്പിക്കുന്നു” എന്ന് യേശു അത്യുച്ചത്തിൽ പറഞ്ഞു. ഇതു പറഞ്ഞിട്ട് അദ്ദേഹം പ്രാണത്യാഗംചെയ്തു.
47 When ye Centurion sawe what had happened he glorified God sayinge: Of a surtie this man was perfecte.
സംഭവിച്ചതെല്ലാം കണ്ട് ശതാധിപൻ ദൈവത്തെ പുകഴ്ത്തിക്കൊണ്ട്, “ഈ മനുഷ്യൻ നീതിനിഷ്ഠനായിരുന്നു, നിശ്ചയം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
48 And all the people that came to geder to that sight beholdynge the thinges which were done: smoote their bestes and returned home.
കാണാൻ വന്നുകൂടിയവർ എല്ലാവരും സംഭവിച്ചതുകണ്ട് നെഞ്ചത്തടിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് തിരികെപ്പോയി.
49 And all his acquayntaunce and the wemen that folowed him from Galile stode a farre of beholdynge these thinges.
എന്നാൽ, ഗലീലയിൽനിന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അനുഗമിച്ച സ്ത്രീകൾ ഉൾപ്പെടെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പരിചയക്കാർ എല്ലാവരും ഇവയെല്ലാം നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ട് ദൂരത്തുനിന്നിരുന്നു.
50 And beholde ther was a man named Ioseph a councelloure and was a good man and a iuste
ന്യായാധിപസമിതിയിലെ ഒരംഗവും നല്ലവനും നീതിനിഷ്ഠനുമായ യോസേഫ് എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ അവിടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
51 and dyd not consent to the counsell and dede of them which was of Aramathia a cite of the Iewes: which same also wayted for ye kyngdome of God:
അയാൾ അവരുടെ തീരുമാനത്തിനും അത് നടപ്പിലാക്കിയതിനും അനുകൂലമായിരുന്നില്ല. അയാൾ അരിമഥ്യ എന്ന യെഹൂദാപട്ടണത്തിൽനിന്നുള്ളയാളും ദൈവരാജ്യത്തിന്റെ വരവിനായി കാത്തിരുന്നയാളുമായിരുന്നു.
52 he went vnto Pilate and begged the boddy of Iesus
അയാൾ പീലാത്തോസിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന് യേശുവിന്റെ മൃതദേഹം വിട്ടുതരണമെന്നപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
53 and toke it doune and wrapped it in a lynnen clooth and layed it in an hewen toumbe wherin was never man before layed.
പിന്നെ അയാൾ യേശുവിന്റെ ശരീരം താഴെയിറക്കി മൃദുലവസ്ത്രത്തിൽ പൊതിഞ്ഞ്, പാറയിൽ വെട്ടിയുണ്ടാക്കിയിരുന്നതും ആരെയും അതുവരെ അടക്കിയിട്ടില്ലാത്തതുമായ ഒരു കല്ലറയിൽ സംസ്കരിച്ചു.
54 And that daye was ye Saboth even and the Saboth drue on.
അന്ന് ഒരുക്കനാളായിരുന്നു; ശബ്ബത്ത് ആരംഭിക്കാനുള്ള സമയവും അടുത്തിരുന്നു.
55 The wemen that folowed after which came with him from Galile behelde the sepulcre and how his body was layed.
ഗലീലയിൽനിന്ന് യേശുവിനോടൊപ്പം വന്ന സ്ത്രീകൾ യോസേഫിന്റെ പിന്നാലെചെന്ന്, കല്ലറയും അതിൽ മൃതദേഹം സംസ്കരിച്ച വിധവും കണ്ടു.
56 And they returned and prepared odoures and oyntmetes: but rested the Saboth daye accordynge to the commaundement.
തുടർന്ന് അവർ ഭവനത്തിലേക്കു പോയി സുഗന്ധദ്രവ്യങ്ങളും പരിമളതൈലവും ഒരുക്കിവെച്ചു. കൽപ്പനയനുസരിച്ച് ശബ്ബത്തുനാളിൽ അവർ വിശ്രമിച്ചു.
