Luke 22
1 The Feast of the Unleavened Bread, known as the Passover, was near.
Se aproximaba la Pascua, la fiesta de los Panes sin Levadura.
2 The Chief Priest and the Teachers of the Law were looking for an opportunity of destroying Jesus, for they were afraid of the people.
Los principales sacerdotes y los escribas buscaban cómo matarlo pero temían al pueblo.
3 Now Satan took possession of Judas, who was known as Iscariot, and who belonged to the Twelve;
Entonces Satanás entró en Judas Iscariote, quien era de los 12.
4 and he went and discussed with the Chief Priests and Officers in charge at the Temple the best way of betraying Jesus to them.
Él fue y habló con los principales sacerdotes y magistrados en cuanto a cómo lo entregaría.
5 They were glad of this, and agreed to pay him.
Se regocijaron y acordaron darle plata.
6 So Judas assented, and looked for an opportunity to betray Jesus to them, in the absence of a crowd.
Él aceptó y buscaba una ocasión para entregárselo sin alboroto.
7 When the day of the Festival of the Unleavened Bread came, on which the Passover lambs had to be killed,
Entonces llegó el día de los Panes sin Levadura. Era necesario sacrificar la pascua.
8 Jesus sent forward Peter and John, saying to them: “Go and make preparations for our eating the Passover.”
Envió a Pedro y Juan y les dijo: Vayan, prepárennos la pascua para que la comamos.
9 “Where do you wish us to make preparations?” they asked.
Y ellos le preguntaron: ¿Dónde quieres que [la] preparemos?
10 “Listen,” he answered, “when you have got into the city, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you; follow him into whatever house he enters;
Él les contestó: Miren, vayan a la ciudad. Se encontrarán con un hombre que lleva un cántaro de agua. Síganlo hasta la casa donde entre
11 and you shall say to the owner of the house ‘The Teacher says to you — Where is the room where I am to eat the Passover with my disciples?’
y digan al dueño de [la] casa: El Maestro te pregunta: ¿Dónde está el aposento donde comeré la pascua con mis discípulos?
12 The man will show you a large upstairs room, set out; there make preparations.”
Él les mostrará un gran aposento alto ya listo. Preparen allí.
13 So Peter and John went on, and found everything just as Jesus had told them, and they prepared the Passover.
Ellos fueron y hallaron como les dijo, y prepararon la pascua.
14 When the time came, Jesus took his place at table, and the Apostles with him.
Cuando llegó la hora Él [se] reclinó con los apóstoles
15 “I have most earnestly wished,” he said, “to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.
y les dijo: ¡Ardientemente deseé comer esta pascua con ustedes antes de mi padecimiento!
16 For I tell you that I shall not eat it again, until it has had its fulfilment in the Kingdom of God.”
Porque les digo: Que de ningún modo la coma [otra vez] hasta que se cumpla en el reino de Dios.
17 Then, on receiving a cup, after saying the thanksgiving, he said:
Tomó una copa, dio gracias y dijo: Tomen esto y repártanlo entre ustedes,
18 “Take this and share it among you. For I tell you that I shall not, after to-day, drink of the juice of the grape, till the Kingdom of God has come.”
porque de ahora en adelante, que de ningún modo beba del fruto de la vid hasta que venga el reino de Dios.
19 Then Jesus took some bread, and, after saying the thanksgiving, broke it and gave to them, with the words: “This is my body, [which is now to be given on your behalf. Do this in memory of me.”]
Tomó un pan, dio gracias, lo partió, les dio y les dijo: Esto es mi cuerpo que es entregado por ustedes. Hagan esto en memoria de Mí.
20 [And in the same way with the cup, after supper, saying: “This cup is the New Covenant made by my blood which is being poured out on your behalf. ]
Después de comerlo, [tomó] también la copa y dijo: Esta copa es el Nuevo Pacto en mi sangre, la cual es derramada por ustedes.
21 Yet see! the hand of the man that is betraying me is beside me upon the table!
Pero observen, la mano del que me entrega está conmigo en la mesa.
22 True, the Son of Man is passing, by the way ordained for him, yet alas for that man by whom he is being betrayed!”
Porque en verdad, el Hijo del Hombre se conduce según lo que fue determinado. Pero ¡ay de aquel hombre que lo entrega!
23 Then they began questioning one another which of them it could be that was going to do this.
Ellos discutieron quién sería el que iba a cometer esto.
24 And a dispute arose among them as to which of them was to be regarded as the greatest.
También discutieron entre ellos quién era el más importante.
25 Jesus, however, said: “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their oppressors are styled ‘Benefactors.’
Entonces Él les dijo: Los reyes de las naciones ejercen señorío sobre ellas, y los que tienen autoridad son llamados benefactores.
26 But with you it must not be so. No, let the greatest among you become like the youngest, and him who leads like him who serves.
Pero no es así entre ustedes, sino el más importante es como el de menos importancia, y el líder como el que sirve.
27 Which is the greater — the master at the table or his servant? Is not it the master at the table? Yet I myself am among you as one who serves.
Porque, ¿quién es más importante, el reclinado o el que sirve? ¿No es el reclinado? Y Yo estoy entre ustedes como el que sirve.
28 You are the men who have stood by me in my trials;
Pero ustedes son quienes permanecieron conmigo en mis pruebas.
29 and, just as my Father has assigned me a Kingdom, I assign you places,
Como mi Padre me asignó un reino, Yo también lo asigno a ustedes,
30 so that you may eat and drink at my table in my Kingdom, and be seated upon twelve thrones as judges of the twelve tribes of Israel.
para que coman y beban a mi mesa en mi reino, y se sienten en tronos a juzgar a las 12 tribus de Israel.
31 Simon! Simon! listen. Satan demanded leave to sift you all like wheat,
Simón, Simón, piensa esto: Satanás te reclamó para zarandearte como el trigo.
32 but I prayed for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. And you, when you have returned to me, are to strengthen your Brothers.”
Pero Yo hablé con Dios por ti para que tu fe no desfallezca. Y tú, cuando vuelvas, fortalece a tus hermanos.
33 “Master,” said Peter, “with you I am ready to go both to prison and to death.”
Pero él le dijo: Señor, estoy listo a ir contigo tanto a [la] cárcel como a [la] muerte.
34 “I tell you, Peter,” replied Jesus, “the cock will not crow to-day till you have disowned all knowledge of me three times.”
Él respondió: Pedro, un gallo no cantará hoy hasta que me niegues tres veces.
35 Then he said to them all: “When I sent you out as my Messengers, without either purse, or bag, or sandals, were you in need of anything?” “No; nothing,” they answered.
Y les dijo: Cuando los envié sin bolsa, ni morral, ni sandalias, ¿les faltó algo? Y ellos contestaron: Nada.
36 “Now, however,” he said, “he who has a purse must take it and his bag as well; and he who has not must sell his cloak and buy a sword.
Pero ahora, el que tiene bolsa, llévela, y el que tiene morral, también. El que no tiene espada, venda su ropa y compre [una].
37 For, I tell you, that passage of Scripture must be fulfilled in me, which says — ‘He was counted among the godless’; indeed all that refers to me is finding its fulfilment.”
Porque es necesario que se cumpla en Mí lo que está escrito: Fue contado con inicuos. Porque lo que está escrito de Mí se cumple.
38 “Master,” they exclaimed, “look, here are two swords!” “Enough!” said Jesus.
Ellos dijeron: Señor, aquí hay dos espadas. Él les respondió: Es suficiente.
39 Jesus then went out, and made his way as usual to the Mount of Olives, followed by his disciples.
Como acostumbraba, fue a la Montaña de Los Olivos, y lo siguieron sus discípulos.
40 And, when he reached the spot, he said to them: “Pray that you may not fall into temptation.”
Cuando llegaron al lugar, les dijo: Hablen con Dios para que no entren en tentación.
41 Then he withdrew about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and began to pray.
Y Él se apartó de ellos como [a distancia de] un tiro de piedra, se arrodilló y hablaba con Dios:
42 “Father,” he said, “if it is thy pleasure, spare me this cup; only, not my will but thine be done.”
Padre, si quieres, aparta esta copa de Mí, pero que no se cumpla mi voluntad, sino la tuya.
43 Presently there appeared to him an angel from Heaven, who strengthened him.
44 And, as his anguish became intense, he prayed still more earnestly, while his sweat was like great drops of blood falling on the ground.
45 Then he rose from praying, and came to the disciples and found them sleeping for sorrow.
Y cuando terminó de hablar con Dios, fue a los discípulos y los halló dormidos por causa de la tristeza.
46 “Why are you asleep?” he asked them. “Rise and pray, that you may not fall into temptation.”
Y les preguntó: ¿Por qué duermen? Levántense, hablen con Dios para que no entren en tentación.
47 While he was still speaking, a crowd appeared in sight, led by the man called Judas, who was one of the Twelve. Judas approached Jesus, to kiss him;
Mientras Él hablaba, apareció Judas, uno de los 12, seguido por una turba. Se acercó a Jesús para besarlo.
48 on which Jesus said to him: “Judas, is it by a kiss that you betray the Son of Man?”
Jesús le preguntó: Judas, ¿con un beso entregas al Hijo del Hombre?
49 But when those who were round Jesus saw what was going to happen, they exclaimed: “Master, shall we use our swords?”
Entonces al ver lo que sucedía, los que estaban alrededor de Él dijeron: Señor, dinos si atacamos con espada.
50 And one of them struck the High Priest’s servant and cut off his right ear;
Uno de ellos atacó al esclavo del sumo sacerdote y le amputó la oreja derecha.
51 on which Jesus said: “Let me at least do this”; and, touching his ear, he healed the wound.
Entonces Jesús dijo: ¡Permitan aun esto! Y al agarrar la oreja, lo sanó.
52 Then, turning to the Chief Priests and Officers in charge at the Temple and Councillors, who had come for him, he said: “Have you come out, as if after a robber, with swords and clubs?
Jesús dijo a los principales sacerdotes, oficiales del Templo y ancianos que llegaron contra Él: ¿[Ustedes] salieron con espadas y garrotes como contra un bandido?
53 When I was with you day after day in the Temple Courts, you did not lay hands on me; but now your time has come, and the power of Darkness.”
Cada día Yo estaba con ustedes en el Templo, y no extendieron las manos contra Mí. Pero ésta es la hora de ustedes y la potestad de la oscuridad.
54 Those who had taken Jesus prisoner took him away into the house of the High Priest. Peter followed at a distance.
[Lo] arrestaron y [lo] llevaron a la casa del sumo sacerdote. Y Pedro [lo ]seguía de lejos.
55 But, when they had lit a fire in the centre of the court-yard and had all sat down there, Peter seated himself in the middle of them.
Encendieron un fuego en medio del patio y se sentaron alrededor. Pedro se sentó entre ellos.
56 Presently a maidservant saw him sitting near the blaze of the fire. Fixing her eyes on him, she said: “Why, this man was one of his companions!”
Entonces una esclava miró fijamente a Pedro quien estaba sentado frente a la lumbre, y dijo: ¡Éste también estaba con Él!
57 But Peter denied it. “I do not know him,” he replied.
Pero él negó: ¡No lo conozco, mujer!
58 A little while afterwards some one else — a man — saw him and said: “Why, you are one of them!” “No,” Peter said, “I am not.”
Un poco después, otro de ellos lo miró y dijo: Tú también eres de ellos. Pedro contestó: ¡Hombre, no soy!
59 About an hour later another man declared positively: “This man also was certainly with him. Why, he is a Galilean!”
Como una hora más tarde, otro afirmaba: En verdad éste también estaba con Él, pues también es galileo.
60 But Peter said: “I do not know what you are speaking about.” Instantly, while he was still speaking, a cock crowed.
Pedro respondió: ¡Hombre, no sé lo que dices! Y al instante, mientras aún hablaba, un gallo cantó.
61 And the Master turned and looked at Peter; and Peter remembered the words that the Master had said to him — “Before a cock has crowed to-day, you will disown me three times”;
El Señor se volvió y miró a Pedro. Y él recordó la Palabra que el Señor le dijo: Hoy, antes que un gallo cante, me negarás tres veces.
62 and he went outside and wept bitterly.
Salió y lloró amargamente.
63 The men that held Jesus kept making sport of him and beating him.
Los hombres que lo custodiaban lo ridiculizaban y golpeaban,
64 They blindfolded him and then questioned him. “Now play the Prophet,” they said; “who was it that struck you?”
le vendaron los ojos y le decían: Profetiza, ¿quién es el que te golpeó?
65 And they heaped many other insults on him.
Y decían muchas otras cosas para blasfemar contra Él.
66 At daybreak the National Council met — both the Chief Priests and the Teachers of the Law — and took Jesus before their High Council.
Cuando amaneció, se reunieron el presbiterio del pueblo, los principales sacerdotes y los escribas. Lo llevaron ante su Tribunal Supremo
67 “If you are the Christ,” they said, “tell us so.” “If I tell you,” replied Jesus, “you will not believe me;
y le dijeron: Si tú eres el Cristo, dinos. Él les respondió: Si les digo, de ningún modo creerían,
68 and, if I question you, you will not answer.
y si les pregunto, de ningún modo responderían.
69 But from this hour ‘the Son of Man will be seated on the right hand of God Almighty.’”
Pero desde ahora el Hijo del Hombre estará sentado a [la] derecha del poder de Dios.
70 “Are you, then, the Son of God?” they all asked. “It is true,” answered Jesus, “I am.”
Y le preguntaron: ¿Entonces Tú eres el Hijo de Dios? Él les respondió: Ustedes dicen que Yo soy.
71 At this they exclaimed: “Why do we want any more evidence? We have heard it ourselves from his own lips!”
Entonces ellos preguntaron: ¿Qué necesidad tenemos aún de testimonio? Porque nosotros mismos [lo] oímos de su boca.
