< Genesis 10 >

1 (This is/I will now give) a list of the descendants of Noah’s sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. They had many children after the flood.
Now these are the generations of the sonnes of Noah, Shem, Ham and Iapheth: vnto whom sonnes were borne after the flood.
2 The sons of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.
The sonnes of Iapheth were Gomer and Magog, and Madai, and Iauan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.
3 The sons of Gomer were Askenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.
And the sonnes of Gomer, Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.
4 The sons of Javan were Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.
Also the sonnes of Iauan, Elishah and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.
5 Those sons and their families who were descended from Javan lived on the islands and on the land close to the [Mediterranean] Sea. Their descendants became tribes, each with its own language and clans and territory.
Of these were the yles of the Gentiles deuided in their landes, euery man after his tongue, and after their families in their nations.
6 The descendants of Ham were Cush, Egypt, Put, and Canaan.
Moreouer, ye sonnes of Ham were Cush, and Mizraim, and Put, and Canaan.
7 The descendants of Cush were Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The descendants of Raamah were Sheba and Dedan.
And the sonnes of Cush, Seba and Hauilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtecha: also the sonnes of Raamah were Sheba and Dedan.
8 Another one of Cush’s descendants was Nimrod. Nimrod was the first person on earth who became a mighty warrior.
And Cush begate Nimrod, who began to be mightie in the earth.
9 Yahweh saw that he had become (OR, caused him to become) a great hunter. That is why people say to a great hunter, “Yahweh (sees that you are/has caused you to be) a great hunter like Nimrod.”
He was a mightie hunter before the Lord. wherefore it is saide, As Nimrod the mightie hunter before the Lord.
10 Nimrod became a king who ruled in Babylonia. The first cities over which he ruled were Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh.
And the beginning of his kingdome was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.
11 From there he went [with others] to Assyria and built the cities of Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah,
Out of that land came Asshur, and builded Niniueh, and the citie Rehoboth, and Calah:
12 and Resen. Resen was a large city between Nineveh and Calah.
Resen also betweene Niniueh and Calah: this is a great citie.
13 Ham’s son, Egypt, became the ancestor of the Lud, Anam, Lehab and Naphtuh,
And Mizraim begate Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim.
14 Pathrus, Casluh and Caphtor people-groups. The Philistine people were descended from Casluh.
Pathrusim also, and Casluhim (out of whom came the Philistims) and Caphtorims.
15 Ham’s youngest son, Canaan, became the father of Sidon, who was his eldest son, and Heth, his younger son.
Also Canaan begat Zidon his first borne, and Heth,
16 Canaan was also the ancestor of the Jebus, Amor, Girgash,
And Iebusi, and Emori, and Girgashi,
17 Hiv, Ark, Sin,
And Hiui, and Arki, and Sini,
18 Arved, Zemar and Hamath people-groups. Later the descendants of Canaan dispersed over a large area.
And Aruadi, and Zemari, and Hamathi: and afterwarde were the families of the Canaanites spred abroade.
19 Their land extended from Sidon [city] in the north as far south as Gaza [town], and then to the east as far as Gerar [town], and then farther east to Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim [towns], and even as far as Lasha [town].
Then the border of the Canaanites was from Zidon, as thou commest to Gerar vntil Azzah, and as thou goest vnto Sodom, and Gomorah, and Admah, and Zeboijm, euen vnto Lasha.
20 Those are the descendants of Ham. They became groups that had their own clans, their own languages, and their own land.
These are the sonnes of Ham according to their families, according to their tongues in their countries and in their nations.
21 Shem, the older brother of Japheth, became the father of Eber, and the ancestor of all the descendants of Eber.
Vnto Shem also the father of all the sonnes of Eber, and elder brother of Iapheth were children borne.
22 The sons of Shem were Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram.
The sonnes of Shem were Elam and Asshur, and Arpachshad, and Lud, and Aram.
23 The sons of Aram were Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.
And the sonnes of Aram, Vz and Hul, and Gether and Mash.
24 Arphaxad became the father of Shelah. Shelah became the father of Eber.
Also Arpachshad begate Shelah, and Shelah begate Eber.
25 Eber became the father of two sons. One of them was named Peleg, [which means ‘division’], because during the time he lived, people on [MTY] the earth became divided and scattered everywhere. Peleg’s younger brother was Joktan.
Vnto Eber also were borne two sonnes: the name of the one was Peleg: for in his dayes was the earth diuided: and his brothers name was Ioktan.
26 Joktan became the ancestor of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,
Then Ioktan begate Almodad and Sheleph, and Hazarmaueth, and Ierah,
27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,
And Hadoram, and Vzal, and Dicklah,
28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba,
And Obal, and Abimael, and Sheba,
29 Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All those people were descended from Joktan.
And Ophir, and Hauilah, and Iobab: all these were the sonnes of Ioktan.
30 The areas in which they lived extended from Mesha westward to Sephar, which is in the (hill country/area that has a lot of hills).
And their dwelling was from Mesha, as thou goest vnto Sephar a mount of the East.
31 They are descendants of Shem. They became groups that had their own clans, their own languages, and their own land.
These are the sonnes of Shem according to their families, according to their tongues, in their countreis and nations.
32 All those groups descended from the sons of Noah. Each group had its own (genealogy/record of people’s ancestors) and each became a separate ethnic group. Those ethnic groups formed after the flood and spread all around the earth.
These are the families of the sonnes of Noah, after their generations among their people: and out of these were the nations diuided in the earth after the flood.
