2 Chronicles 7
1 When Solomon finished praying, fire came down from the sky and burned all the offerings and sacrifices [that were on the altar], and the glorious radiance of Yahweh filled the temple.
Et lorsque Salomon eut terminé sa prière, le feu descendit du ciel et consuma l'holocauste et les victimes, et la gloire de l'Éternel remplit le Temple;
2 The radiance [was extremely bright], with the result that the priests could not enter the temple of Yahweh.
et les Prêtres ne pouvaient pénétrer dans le Temple de l'Éternel, car la gloire de l'Éternel avait rempli le Temple de l'Éternel.
3 When all the Israeli people [who were there] saw the fire coming down and the glory of Yahweh above the temple, they prostrated themselves with their faces touching the ground. They worshiped and thanked Yahweh, singing, “Yahweh is always good to us; he faithfully loves us forever.”
Et tous les enfants d'Israël furent témoins de la descente du feu, de la gloire de l'Éternel sur le Temple; et ils se prosternèrent la face contre terre sur le pavé et ils adorèrent, et rendirent grâces à l'Éternel de ce qu'il est bon, de ce que sa miséricorde est éternelle.
4 Then the king and all the people who were there dedicated the temple to Yahweh by offering more sacrifices to him. King Solomon gave 22,000 cattle and 120,000 sheep and goats to be sacrificed.
Et le roi et tout le peuple sacrifièrent des victimes devant l'Éternel.
Et le roi Salomon offrit le sacrifice de vingt-deux mille taureaux et de cent vingt mille moutons, et le roi et tout le peuple dédièrent ainsi le Temple de Dieu.
6 The priests stood in their positions, and the other descendants of Levi stood in their positions holding the musical instruments [to praise] Yahweh, instruments that King David had caused to be made for praising Yahweh and thanking him. [They sang], “He faithfully loves us forever.” Facing the other descendants of Levi the priests stood, blowing their trumpets, while all the Israeli people were standing [and listening].
Et les Prêtres vaquaient à leurs fonctions, ainsi que les Lévites avec les instruments de l'Éternel, qu'avait faits le roi David pour rendre grâces à l'Éternel de ce que sa miséricorde est éternelle, quand David louait [l'Éternel] par leur organe; et les Prêtres sonnaient de la trompette en face d'eux, et tous les Israélites assistaient debout.
7 Solomon dedicated the middle part of the courtyard in front of the temple. Then he gave offerings to be completely burned there along with the fat of the animals to be sacrificed to maintain fellowship with Yahweh. The priests burned them there in the courtyard because in addition to those things there were offerings of grain, with the result that there was not enough space on the bronze altar to burn all those sacrifices.
Et Salomon consacra l'aire du parvis qui est devant le Temple de l'Éternel, car il y offrit des holocaustes et les graisses des sacrifices pacifiques, parce que l'autel d'airain qu'avait fait Salomon, ne pouvait contenir les holocaustes et les offrandes et les graisses.
8 Solomon [and the other people] celebrated the Festival of Living in Temporary Shelters for seven days. There was a huge group of people who celebrated with him. Some of them came from [as far away as] Lebo-Hamath [in the far north] and the border of Egypt [in the far south].
C'est ainsi que Salomon fit la fête en ce temps-là pendant sept jours avec tous les Israélites, immense assemblée convoquée de Hamath au Torrent d'Egypte.
9 On the eighth/next day they gathered again [to worship Yahweh]. They had celebrated the dedication of the altar for seven days and the Festival of Living in Temporary Shelters for seven days.
Et ils eurent le huitième jour convocation solennelle; car ils firent la dédicace de l'autel pendant sept jours, et la fête pendant sept jours.
10 Then on the next day Solomon sent them to their homes. They were very joyful because of all the good things that Yahweh had done for David and Solomon and for all his Israeli people.
Et le vingt-troisième, jour du septième mois il renvoya le peuple à ses tentes, content et joyeux du bien que l'Éternel avait fait à David et à Salomon et à Israël, son peuple.
11 Solomon’s [workers] finished building the temple and Solomon’s palace. And Solomon finished doing everything else that he had planned to do.
C'est ainsi que Salomon acheva le Temple de l'Éternel et le palais royal; et tout ce que Salomon avait eu la pensée d'exécuter dans le Temple de l'Éternel et dans son palais, lui réussit.
12 Then Yahweh appeared to him one night [in a dream] and said to him, “I have heard your prayer, and I have chosen this temple to be the place where my people will offer sacrifices to me.
Alors l'Éternel apparut à Salomon de nuit et lui dit: J'ai entendu ta prière et choisi pour moi ce lieu-ci comme maison sacrificatoire.
13 “When I prevent any rain from falling, or when I command locusts to eat all the crops, or when I send a plague among my people,
Dans le cas où je fermerai les Cieux pour qu'il n'y ait pas de pluie, et commanderai aux sauterelles de brouter le pays, et enverrai la peste dans mon peuple,
14 if the people who belong to me humble themselves and pray, and request me to help them, and if they turn away from their sinful behavior, then I will hear from heaven. I will forgive them for having sinned and I will cause them to prosper again.
et si mon peuple qui porte mon Nom s'humilie et me prie et cherche ma face, et revient de ses mauvaises voies, de mon côté j'écouterai du ciel et pardonnerai leur péché et restaurerai leur pays.
15 I [SYN] will see them and I [SYN] will hear them when they pray to me in this place.
Désormais mes yeux seront ouverts et mes oreilles attentives aux prières de ce lieu-ci.
16 I have chosen and have (set apart/dedicated) this temple in order that people may worship [MTY] me there forever. I will always watch over [MTY] it and protect [IDM] it.
J'ai donc choisi et sanctifié ce Temple afin que mon Nom y soit éternellement, et mes yeux et ma dilection y seront à perpétuité.
17 “And as for you, if you obey me as David your father did, and if you do all that I command you to do, and obey all my laws and decrees,
Quant à toi, si tu marches devant moi comme a marché David, ton père, et que dans tes actes tu te conformes à tout ce que je t'ai prescrit, et gardes mes statuts et mes arrêts,
18 I will make sure that your descendants will always be kings, which is what I promised to David your father, saying, ‘Some of your descendants will always be the kings of Israel.’
alors je maintiendrai sur pied ton trône royal, ainsi que je m'y suis engagé envers David, ton père, en ces termes: Tu ne manqueras jamais d'un homme pour être dominateur d'Israël.
19 “But if you Israelis turn away from me and disobey the decrees and commands that I have given to you, and you start to worship other gods,
Mais si vous faites défection et abandonnez mes statuts et mes commandements que j'ai mis devant vous, et si vous vous en allez servir d'autres dieux et les adorer,
20 I will cause you to be expelled from this land that I have given to you, and I will abandon this temple that I have set apart to be the place where people should worship me. I will cause it to be despised and ridiculed by people of all nations.
alors je vous arracherai de mon sol que je vous ai donné, et ce Temple que j'ai sanctifié pour mon Nom, je le repousserai loin de mes regards, et le ferai passer en proverbe et en sarcasme parmi tous les peuples.
21 Although this temple is now greatly respected, when that happens, all the people who pass by will be appalled, and they will say, ‘Why has Yahweh done terrible things like this to this country and to this temple?’
Et ce Temple qui aura été si éminent, quiconque y passera, aura le frisson et dira: Pourquoi l'Éternel a-t-Il ainsi fait à ce pays et à ce Temple?
22 And others will reply, ‘It happened because they rejected Yahweh, the God to whom their ancestors belonged, the one who brought their ancestors out of Egypt, and they have been worshiping other gods and trying to please them. And that is why Yahweh has caused them to experience all these disasters.’”
Et l'on dira: Parce qu'ils ont abandonné l'Éternel, Dieu de leurs pères, qui les avait retirés du pays d'Egypte, et qu'ils se sont attachés à d'autres dieux et qu'ils les ont adorés et les ont servis: c'est pour cela qu'il a fait fondre sur eux tout ce désastre.
