< Matthew 5 >

1 Having seen then the crowds He went up on the mountain, and when was sitting down He they came to Him the disciples of Him.
2 And opening the mouth of Him He was teaching them saying:
Na ka puaki tona mangai, a ka whakaako ia i a ratou, ka mea,
3 Blessed [are] the poor in the spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens.
Ka koa te hunga he rawakore nei te wairua: no ratou hoki te rangatiratanga o te rangi.
4 Blessed [are] those mourning, for they themselves will be comforted.
Ka koa te hunga e tangi ana: ka whakamarietia hoki ratou.
5 Blessed [are] the meek, for they themselves will inherit the earth.
Ka koa te hunga ngakau mahaki: ka riro hoki i a ratou te whenua.
6 Blessed [are] those hungering and thirsting for righteousness, for they themselves will be filled.
7 Blessed [are] the merciful, for they themselves will receive mercy.
Ka koa te hunga tohu tangata: e tohungia hoki ratou.
8 Blessed [are] the pure in heart, for they themselves God will see.
Ka koa te hunga ngakau ma: e kite hoki ratou i te Atua.
9 Blessed [are] the peacemakers, for they themselves sons of God will be called.
10 Blessed [are] those persecuted on account of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens.
Ka koa te hunga e whakatoia ana mo te tika: no ratou hoki te rangatiratanga o te rangi.
11 Blessed are you when they may insult you and they may persecute [you] and they may say all kinds of evil (declaration *k) against you lying on account of Me.
Ka koa koutou ina tawai ratou i a koutou, ina whakatoi, ina puaki i a ratou nga kupu kino katoa mo koutou, he mea teka, he whakaaro hoki ki ahau.
12 do rejoice and do exult, for the reward of you [is] great in the heavens; thus for they persecuted the prophets before you.
Kia hari, kia whakamanamana: he rahi hoki te utu mo koutou i te rangi: he penei hoki ta ratou whakatoi i nga poropiti i mua i a koutou.
13 You yourselves are the salt of the earth; if however the salt shall become tasteless, with what will it be salted? For no [thing] it is useful any longer only except for (being cast *N+kO) out (and *k) is to be trampled upon by men.
14 You yourselves are the light of the world; Not is able a city to be hidden on a hill lying;
Ko koutou te whakamarama o te ao. E kore e ngaro te pa e tu ana i runga maunga.
15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket but upon the lampstand, and it shines for all those in the house.
16 Thus should shine the light of you before men so that they may see your good works and they may glorify the Father of you who [is] in the heavens.
Waihoki kia tiaho to koutou marama ki te aroaro o nga tangata, kia kite ai ratou i a koutou hanga pai, kia whakakororia ai i to koutou Matua i te rangi.
17 Not may think that I have come to abolish the law or the Prophets; not I have come to abolish but to fulfill.
18 Amen for I say to you; until when may pass away the heaven and the earth, iota one or one stroke of a letter certainly not may pass away from the law until when everything may happen.
He tino pono hoki taku e mea nei ki a koutou, Pahemo noa te rangi me te whenua, e kore tetahi tongi, tetahi tohu ranei o te ture e pahemo, kia rite katoa ra ano.
19 Who[ever] if then shall break one of the commandments of these the least and shall teach so the others, least he will be called in the kingdom of the heavens. who[ever] now maybe may keep and may teach [them], this [one] great will be called in the kingdom of the heavens.
20 I say for to you that only unless shall abound your righteousness above [that] of the scribes and Pharisees, certainly not shall you enter into the kingdom of the heavens.
21 You have heard that it was said to the ancients; Not you will murder; who[ever] now maybe may murder, liable will be to the judgment;’
22 I myself however say to you that everyone who is being angry with the brother of him (in vain *KO) liable will be to the judgment; who[ever] now maybe may say to the brother of him; Raca,’ liable will be to the Sanhedrin; who[ever] now maybe may say; Fool, liable will be to the hell of fire. (Geenna g1067)
(Geenna g1067)
23 If therefore you shall offer the gift of you at the altar and there and there shall remember that the brother of you has something against you,
Na reira, ki te mauria e koe tau whakahere ki te aata, a ka mahara i reira i hara koe ki tou hoa;
24 do leave there the gift of you before the altar and do go away, first do be reconciled to the brother of you, and then having come do offer the gift of you.
Waiho tau whakahere i reira, i mua o te aata, a haere, matua houhia te rongo ki tou teina, ka haere ai, ka mau ai i tau whakahere.
25 do be agreeing with the accuser of you quickly before which you are with him on the way otherwise otherwise you shall deliver the accuser to the judge, and the judge (you he may betray *KO) to the officer, and into prison you will be cast.
26 Amen I say to you; certainly not you may come out from there until when you may pay the last kodranten!
He pono taku e mea atu nei ki a koe, E kore rawa koe e puta i reira, kia utua ra ano te patene whakamutunga.
27 You have heard that it was said (to the ancients: *K) Not will you commit adultery.’
Kua rongo koutou, i korerotia, Kaua e puremu:
28 I myself however say to you that everyone who is looking upon a woman in order to lust after (her *N+kO) already has committed adultery with her in the heart of him.
29 If now the eye of you right causes to stumble you, do pluck out it and do cast [it] from you; it is better indeed for you that may perish one of the members of you and not all the body of you may be cast into hell. (Geenna g1067)
Ki te he koe i tou kanohi matau, tikarohia, maka atu: he pai ke hoki ki a koe ki te ngaro tetahi wahi ou, a ka kore e maka tou tinana katoa ki Kehena. (Geenna g1067)
30 And if the right of you hand causes to stumble you, do cut off it and do cast [it] from you; it is better indeed for you that may perish one of the members of you and not all the body of you into hell (may depart. *N+KO) (Geenna g1067)
Ki te he ano hoki koe i tou ringa matau, poutoa, maka atu: he pai ke ki te mate tetahi wahi ou, a ka kore e maka tou tinana katoa ki Kehena. (Geenna g1067)
31 It was said also (that: *k) Who[ever] maybe may divorce the wife of him, he should give to her a letter of divorce.’
I korerotia ano, Ki te whakarere tetahi i tana wahine, me hoatu ki a ia tetahi pukapuka whakarere:
32 I myself however say to you that (everyone who is divorcing *N+kO) the wife of him except on account of sexual immorality causes her (to be adulterated; *N+KO) And who[ever] if divorced shall marry, commits adultery.
33 Again you have heard that it was said to the ancients; Not will you swear falsely, you will keep now to the Lord the oaths of you.
Kua rongo ano koutou, i korerotia ki nga tupuna, Kaua e oati teka, engari me whakamana au oati ki te Ariki:
34 I myself however say to you not to swear at all, neither [swear] by heaven because [the] throne it is of God,
35 nor [swear] by the earth because [the] footstool it is of the feet of Him, nor [swear] by Jerusalem because [the] city it is of the great King,
36 nor by the head of you may you swear because not you are able one hair white to make or black.
Kaua ano e oatitia tou matenga, e kore hoki e ahei i a koe te mea kia ma tetahi makawe, kia mangu ranei.
37 should be however the statement of you Yes Yes, [and] ‘No ‘No; The however excessive of these from evil comes.
Erangi ko tenei hei kupu ma koutou, Ae, ae; Kahore, kahore: no te mea ki te maha atu i ena, no te kino.
38 You have heard that it was said; Eye for eye and tooth for tooth.’
Kua rongo koutou i korerotia, He kanohi mo te kanohi, he niho mo te niho:
39 I myself however say to you not to resist the evil [person]. Instead whoever you (strike on *N+kO) the right cheek of you, do turn to him also the other;
40 and to the [one] willing you to sue and the tunic of you to take, do yield to him also the cloak;
41 and whoever you will compel to go mile one, do go with him two.
A ki te tonoa koe e tetahi kia haere kotahi te maero, kia rua au e haere tahi ai me ia.
42 To the [one] asking you (do give *N+kO) and the [one] desiring from you to borrow not may you turn away from.
43 You have heard that it was said; You will love the neighbour of you and will hate the enemy of you.’
Kua rongo koutou i korerotia, Kia aroha ki tou hoa tata, kia kino hoki ki tou hoa whawhai:
44 I myself however say to you; do love the enemies of you (do bless those cursing you well do *K) (to those hating *K+o) (you *K) and do pray for those (mistreating you and *K) persecuting you,
Na ko taku kupu tenei ki a koutou, Arohaina o koutou hoa whawhai, manaakitia te hunga e kanga ana i a koutou, kia pai te mahi ki te hunga e kino ana ki a koutou, me inoi hoki mo te hunga e whakawhiu ana i a koutou, e whakatoi ana i a koutou;
45 so that you may be sons of the Father of you who is in (the *o) heavens, For the sun of Him He makes rise on evil and good and He sends rain on righteous and unrighteous.
46 If for you shall love those loving you, what reward have you? Surely also the tax collectors the (same *NK+o) do?
47 And if you shall greet the (brothers *NK+O) of you only, what excessive do you? Surely also the (Gentiles *N+KO) (the *no) (same *N+kO) do?
A ki te oha koutou ki o koutou teina anake, he aha ta koutou mahi i nui ake i ta etahi? kahore ianei nga tauiwi e pena hoki?
48 Will be therefore you yourselves perfect (how *N+kO) the Father of you who (Heavenly *N+KO) perfect is.
Na kia tika koutou, kia pera me to koutou Matua i te rangi e tika ana.
