Acts 23
1 Having looked intently then Paul at the Council he said; Men brothers, I myself in all conscience good have lived as a citizen to God unto this day.
Paulus aber blickte das Synedrium unverwandt an und sprach: Brüder! ich habe mit allem guten Gewissen vor [O. mit, für] Gott gewandelt bis auf diesen Tag.
2 Then the high priest Ananias commanded to those standing by him to strike of him the mouth.
Der Hohepriester Ananias aber befahl denen, die bei ihm standen, ihn auf den Mund zu schlagen.
3 Then Paul to him said; To strike you is about God, wall whitewashed! And you yourself do you sit judging me according to the law, and violating law you command me to be struck?
Da sprach Paulus zu ihm: Gott wird dich schlagen, du getünchte Wand! Und du, sitzest du da, mich nach dem Gesetz zu richten, und, wider das Gesetz handelnd, befiehlst du mich zu schlagen?
4 Those who now standing by said; The high priest of God do you insult?
Die Dabeistehenden aber sprachen: Schmähst du den Hohenpriester Gottes?
5 Was saying then Paul; Not I had known, brothers, that he is high priest; it has been written for (that *no) [The] ruler of the people of you not you will speak evil [of].’
Und Paulus sprach: Ich wußte nicht, Brüder, daß es der Hohepriester ist; denn es steht geschrieben: "Von dem Obersten [O. Fürsten] deines Volkes sollst du nicht übel reden". [2. Mose 22,28]
6 Having known then Paul that the one part consists of Sadducees but the other of Pharisees (he was crying out *N+kO) in the Council; Men brothers, I myself a Pharisee am, [the] son (of Pharisees; *N+KO) concerning [the] hope and resurrection of [the] dead I myself am judged.
Da aber Paulus wußte, daß der eine Teil von den Sadducäern, der andere aber von den Pharisäern war, rief er in dem Synedrium: Brüder, ich bin ein Pharisäer, ein Sohn von Pharisäern; wegen der Hoffnung und Auferstehung der Toten werde ich gerichtet.
7 This then of him (saying *N+k+o) arose a dissension between the Pharisees and (of the *k) Sadducees, and was divided the crowd.
Als er aber dies gesagt hatte, entstand ein Zwiespalt unter den Pharisäern und Sadducäern, und die Menge teilte sich.
8 Sadducees indeed for say not there to be resurrection (neither [to be] *N+kO) angel nor [to be] spirit; Pharisees however confess both.
Denn die Sadducäer sagen, es gebe keine Auferstehung, noch Engel, noch Geist; die Pharisäer aber bekennen beides.
9 Arose then a clamor great; and having risen up (some *NO) (of the scribes *N+kO) of the party of the Pharisees they were contending saying; No [thing] evil we find in man this; What if now a spirit has spoken to him or an angel (Surely we shall be fighting God? *K)
Es entstand aber ein großes Geschrei, und die Schriftgelehrten von der Partei der Pharisäer standen auf und stritten und sagten: Wir finden an diesem Menschen nichts Böses; wenn aber ein Geist oder ein Engel zu ihm geredet hat
10 great then (is becoming *N+kO) dissension, (having feared *N+kO) the commander lest may be torn to pieces Paul by them he commanded the troop (having gone down *NK+o) (and *k) to take by force him from midst of them, to bring [him] then into the barracks.
Als aber ein großer Zwiespalt [O. Aufruhr] entstand, fürchtete der Oberste, Paulus möchte von ihnen zerrissen werden, und befahl, daß das Kriegsvolk hinabgehe und ihn aus ihrer Mitte wegreiße und in das Lager führe.
11 But on the following night having stood by him the Lord said; Take courage (Paul; *k) as for you have fully testified about Me at Jerusalem, thus you it behooves also in Rome to testify.
In der folgenden Nacht aber stand der Herr bei ihm und sprach: Sei gutes Mutes! denn wie du von mir in Jerusalem gezeugt [Eig. das mich Betreffende bezeugt] hast, so mußt du auch in Rom zeugen.
12 When it was becoming then day having made a conspiracy (the Jews *N+kO) put under an oath themselves declaring neither to eat nor to drink until that they may kill Paul.
Als es aber Tag geworden war, rotteten sich die Juden zusammen, verfluchten sich und sagten, daß sie weder essen noch trinken würden, bis sie Paulus getötet hätten.
13 There were now more than forty this plot (having made; *N+kO)
Es waren aber mehr als vierzig, die diese Verschwörung gemacht hatten,
14 who having come to the chief priests and to the elders said; With an oath we have bound ourselves nothing to eat until that we may kill Paul.
welche zu den Hohenpriestern und den Ältesten kamen und sprachen: Wir haben uns mit einem Fluche verflucht, nichts zu genießen, bis wir den Paulus getötet haben.
15 Now therefore you yourselves do make a report to the commander along with the Council, so that (tomorrow *K) he may bring down him (to *N+kO) you as being about to examine more earnestly the [things] about him; we ourselves then before drawing near of him ready we are to execute him.
Machet ihr nun jetzt mit dem Synedrium dem Obersten Anzeige, damit er ihn zu euch herabführe, als wolltet ihr seine Sache genauer entscheiden; wir aber sind bereit, ehe er nahe kommt, ihn umzubringen.
16 Having heard however the son of the sister of Paul (of the ambush, *N+kO) having come near and having entered into the barracks he reported [it] to Paul.
Als aber der Schwestersohn des Paulus von der Nachstellung gehört hatte, kam er hin und ging in das Lager und meldete es dem Paulus.
17 Having called to [him] then Paul one of the centurions he was saying; young man this (do take *NK+o) to the commander; he has for to report something to him.
Paulus aber rief einen von den Hauptleuten zu sich und sagte: Führe diesen Jüngling zu dem Obersten, denn er hat ihm etwas zu melden.
18 The [one] indeed therefore having taken him he brought [him] to the commander and he says; The prisoner Paul having called to me he asked [me] this (young man *N+kO) to lead to you having something to say to you.
Der nun nahm ihn zu sich und führte ihn zu dem Obersten und sagt: Der Gefangene Paulus rief mich herzu und bat mich, diesen Jüngling zu dir zu führen, der dir etwas zu sagen habe.
19 Having taken hold then of the hand of him the commander and having withdrawn in private he was inquiring: What is it that you have to report to me?
Der Oberste aber nahm ihn bei der Hand und zog sich mit ihm besonders zurück und fragte: Was ist es, das du mir zu melden hast?
20 He said then that The Jews have agreed to ask you that tomorrow Paul you may bring down into the Council as (it being about *N+K+O) something more earnestly to inquire about him.
Er aber sprach: Die Juden sind übereingekommen, dich zu bitten, daß du morgen den Paulus in das Synedrium hinabbringest, als wollest du etwas Genaueres über ihn erkunden.
21 You yourself therefore not may be persuaded by them, Lie in wait indeed for him of them men more than forty, who was put under an oath themselves neither to eat nor to drink until that they may execute him and now they are ready awaiting the from you promise.
Du nun, laß dich nicht von ihnen überreden, denn mehr als vierzig Männer von ihnen stellen ihm nach, welche sich verflucht haben, weder zu essen noch zu trinken, bis sie ihn umgebracht haben; und jetzt sind sie bereit und erwarten die Zusage von dir.
22 Indeed therefore [the] commander dismissed the (young man *N+kO) having instructed [him] No one to tell that these things you reported to me.
Der Oberste nun entließ den Jüngling und befahl ihm: Sage niemandem, daß du mir dies angezeigt hast.
23 And having called to [him] two certain of the centurions he said; do prepare soldiers two hundred so that they may go as far as Caesarea and horsemen seventy and spearmen two hundred for [the] third hour of the night,
Und als er zwei von den Hauptleuten herzugerufen hatte, sprach er: Machet zweihundert Kriegsknechte bereit, damit sie bis Cäsarea ziehen, und siebzig Reiter und zweihundert Lanzenträger, von der dritten Stunde der Nacht an.
24 Mounts then providing so that having set upon [them] Paul they may bring [him] safely to Felix the governor;
Und sie sollten Tiere bereit halten, auf daß sie den Paulus darauf setzten und sicher zu Felix, dem Landpfleger, hinbrächten.
25 having written a letter (having *N+kO) form this:
Und er schrieb einen Brief folgenden Inhalts:
26 Claudius Lysias To the most excellent governor Felix Greeting.
Klaudius Lysias dem vortrefflichsten Landpfleger Felix seinen Gruß!
27 man this having been seized by the Jews and being about to be executed by them, having come up with the troop I rescued (him *k) having learned that a Roman he is;
Diesen Mann, der von den Juden ergriffen wurde und nahe daran war, von ihnen umgebracht zu werden, habe ich, mit dem Kriegsvolk einschreitend, ihnen entrissen, da ich erfuhr, daß er ein Römer sei.
28 Resolving (then to know *N+kO) the charge on account of which they were accusing him I brought down (him *k) to the council of them;
Da ich aber die Ursache wissen wollte, weswegen sie ihn anklagten, führte ich ihn in ihr Synedrium hinab.
29 whom I found being accused concerning questions of the law of them, not however [of anything] worthy of death or of chains having accusation.
Da fand ich, daß er wegen Streitfragen ihres Gesetzes angeklagt war, daß aber keine Anklage gegen ihn vorlag, die des Todes oder der Bande wert wäre.
30 When was being disclosed then to me a plot that against the man (to be about to *k) going to happen (by the Jews *K) (at once *NK+O) I sent [him] to you having instructed also to the accusers to speak the [things] against him before you. (Farewell! *KO)
Da mir aber ein Anschlag hinterbracht wurde, der von den Juden wider den Mann im Werke sei, habe ich ihn sofort zu dir gesandt und auch den Klägern befohlen, vor dir zu sagen, was wider ihn vorliegt. Lebe wohl!
31 Indeed therefore [the] soldiers according to that ordered them having taken Paul brought [him] through night to Antipatris.
Die Kriegsknechte nun nahmen, wie ihnen befohlen war, den Paulus und führten ihn bei der Nacht nach Antipatris.
32 On the now next day having allowed the horsemen (to go *N+kO) with him they returned to the barracks;
Des folgenden Tages aber ließen sie die Reiter mit fortziehen und kehrten nach dem Lager zurück.
33 who having entered into Caesarea and having delivered the letter to the governor presented also Paul to him.
Und als diese nach Cäsarea gekommen waren, übergaben sie dem Landpfleger den Brief und stellten ihm auch den Paulus dar.
34 Having read [it] then (governor *k) and having asked from what province he is and having learned that from Cilicia [he is],
Als er es aber gelesen und gefragt hatte, aus welcher Provinz er sei, und erfahren, daß er aus Cilicien sei,
35 I will hear fully you, he was saying, when also the accusers of you may have arrived. (having commanded *N+kO) (then *k) in the Praetorium of Herod to be guarded him.
sprach er: Ich werde dich völlig anhören, wenn auch deine Ankläger angekommen sind. Und er befahl, daß er in dem Prätorium des Herodes verwahrt werde.
